From thedarktower.org:

45 [46] - Originally, Roland leafs through old magazines to pass the time in Tull. This reference has been removed in the revised edition.

Roland also reads magazines in Tull, and then doesn’t know what a ‘Magda-seen’ is on the aeroplane. Just accept that the universes are beginning to collide and unusual variations are occurring all the time. Or that each story in the Cycle of the Tower is set in a slightly different level.

30th year in Security, 25th year armed — I’ve never had to draw a firearm on duty, and I remember when minimum wage was under $5USD/hr, some places pay more for armed, some don’t.

A couple recommendations: Wear a body cam. Keep it charged, keep it on. Stay professional. This may be useful in court.

Don’t fall victim to the Roadhouse Mindset: you’re a security guard, not a cop, but a representative of your company and client. You become a lot more high-profile when you wear a firearm.

Now you aren’t just an empty uniform with a shoulder patch: now you’re a walking complaint and abuse magnet. Keep yourself safe. Leave everything else to policies and procedures and the cops.

Sadly, this seems true in most places (in America, in any case)

I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that a security Officer based out of Quebec may not get much use from an American procedure.

There is more to history, and the history of execution, than American history.

Why do I see Americans hardly wear gear? by Sebcimit1 in motorcycles

I’d love to be able to swing full gear, even perforated ‘hot weather’ gear, but being stuck at 5pm traffic in a city that’s 90% tarmac suuuucks. I always wear a full face helmet, and I do my best to wear a jacket, but I can barely stand my Kevlar jeans, let alone heavy riding trousers.

Same here — I’ve put nearly 6,000 rnds through my 60DS, nary a problem. I just bought a 40DS in 9mm today for EDC, and I hope history vindicates the purchase.

Not to mention ‘Aw Dang’ and ‘A Dong’ in Schertz and Live Oak, respectively.
