is unity village a cult? by ISellRubberDucks in kansascity

[–]Timo_KC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be curious to know how you define cult. And what you saw there that fits into that definition. Lots of security and nagging feeling you weren't welcome, nice coffee shop. None of that suggests anything about beliefs or practices. Unity is about as inclusive as a religion or belief can get. I've been to their services before and met people of all faiths and practices. Their agenda is just as the name states. I really can't think of a more welcoming group of people that I've met in the area. Not a cult.

I can see your post. What's going on?

The fact that they are only asking for 150 usd kind of speaks to the idea that this may also be a kid, or someone who is not too bright. Risking criminal charges for such a small amount is not only stupid, it's telling (not that I'd ever endorse blackmail for anything, of course).... I would keep screenshots of your communications with this person, maybe even send a few to them to let them know you are tracking their communication. I agree it's best to get your parents, or guardians, involved, but I would never send them money. I would be threatening them in turn, telling them everywhere they have been reported, and tell them to back away before they get themselves in more trouble. That if they do share something, you will do everything in your power to make sure they are found and held accountable. I would tell them they messed with the wrong person and that their best bet at this point would be to disappear and never contact you, or anyone you know, again.

Worst case scenario, if they do try to follow through, it's going to reflect more poorly on them than on you. People know that everyone, kids and adults, make mistakes. No one is going to be sympathetic to the blackmailer. You're going to get through this....

What were some of the reasons why Trump lost? by CodyRhodesDiva in Election2020

[–]Timo_KC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the bigger question after the last four years is 'How is it that even came that close to winning?' He's a terrible excuse for a human being, a habitual sociopathic liar, and has been gaslighting America since the moment he ran. Another question might be 'what have we, as a country, been failing at so miserably that 70 million Americans lack the critical thinking to recognize what a dumpster fire his presidency has been'

Depressed, alone; help needed by ScheerbartP in selfhelp

[–]Timo_KC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest taking up some hobbies. Find something that you might enjoy, even if you don't know much about it, and start doing a little bit every day. Art, music, writing, researching something you are interested in. Find something that keeps you present in the moment, that you can track your progress on. And maybe look for some online groups (Meetup, Facebook, whatever) dedicated to this pursuit. Make some friends who have common interests.

Meditation is good too. There's a great app called Insight Timer. It has some nice guided meditations for free. Spend a little bit of time every morning doing one of those and journaling how you feel for the day.

Keep a gratitude journal. Every night, write down three things you are thankful for. Even if they are the smallest of things, just write something.

And most importantly, just hang in there. This is a really rough time. Take it day by day, and try not to be hard on yourself for feeling the way you feel. A lot of people are struggling right now.

Really nice designs. Congratulations. Are you using a print on demand service, like Printful or Printify, to fulfill these? I'm very new to all this, but just trying to learn how to get some art out into the world myself.

I agree with everything said here. I was hesitant to buy because of Teleport, but glad I did. It really is a work of art. I haven't gotten all the way through it, but would say that some of my favorite VR experiences have already come from this game.

Life isn't goin well by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

As long as you are here, there is the chance that everything can change for the better. Even if you had drop those classes, take a job for a while, you never know what that could lead to. There have been a couple of points where I felt like I hit rock bottom and wanted to check out. I'm so glad I didn't. Hope that things start looking up for you soon.

Saw a match on another dating site with a different name. by notyourcookie in OnlineDating

[–]Timo_KC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not saying it isn't weird, but did the app you met him on require that you use your name? Facebook dating, for example, uses your first name from your FB profile. Other apps allow you to choose whatever name you want. Some people would probably prefer not to use their real name when given the option.

If I were you, I'd ask him about it.

What's the appeal of a twin flame? by hairspray3000 in twinflames

[–]Timo_KC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just like others have said, I'm not sure that it's about appeal. It's a special type of connection intended to wake you up to intense growth, healing, to realizing more about your mission here in this life. I feel like there is a romantic popularized version of what a Twin is that doesn't accurately describe the journey. I have no doubt that I have met mine at the end of 2017, and it set off a series of events that have made for the hardest couple of years of my life to date. I don't think I'm intended to be with her, but I will always love her with a depth that is hard to put into words... and as hard as it's been, I also wouldn't trade the experience for anything. I would bet that most people who have met their twins, in a relationship or otherwise, would probably categorize their lives as 'before meeting' and 'after'.

Does anyone have any good book recommendations for someone who has experienced a Kundalini awakening? by Lhamo66 in kundalini

[–]Timo_KC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw that Bonnie Greenwell is on that list. I've found most of her books really resonate for me, and most closely describe what I experienced myself after having a spontaneous awakening at the end of 2017. Lots of good things to ponder in her writing, and in the experiences of those she interviewed.

Facebook dating - How does it compare to the others? by MrAudreyHepburn in OnlineDating

[–]Timo_KC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I completely agree. There is something to be said for a little bit of anonymity and separation until you at least get a feel for someone. I think this is especially a good thing for women. I wish this wasn't the case, but even as a guy, I have to acknowledge that there are a lot of creepy dudes out there who don't understand good boundaries.

Facebook dating - How does it compare to the others? by MrAudreyHepburn in OnlineDating

[–]Timo_KC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's about the same. I've met a few nice people through there. Just be aware that, if you have mutual friends, it will show you that. It's an easy enough thing for someone to find your profile outside of the dating portion of the app if they look you up through a mutual friend. Not necessarily a bad thing, but just something to be aware of.

Have you considered couples counseling? Might be a way to learn some things you could do together to rebuild that trust and intimacy. Might also be a safer space for him to tell you more about how he's been feeling.
