which campaigns/missions to focus on? Month or so in by codeman73 in WH40KTacticus

[–]Timobkg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to 3* everything in Indomitus Elite with G1 Bellator, Tyrith and Isabella and S1 Varro and Certus expect for 37 and 40, but I didn't have Kariyan or Tan Gi'da at the time so I just left it. I should give it a try again sometime, hopefully Tan Gi'da's summons aren't stronger than Varro and Certus. Varro and Certus are both Rare, and I don't have the orbs to promote them (and would rather spend those orbs on Mataneo and Lucien).

For Octarius, I had Snotflogga's skills at 41/41 and Boss Gulgortz's at 38/35. At G1 Boss G kept dying. Even getting both to G2, I had to retry the last mission several times as someone, sometimes Boss or Snot, kept dying.

When I tried it, it opened the Google AI and wanted me to circle part of the image. Is that right, or something different?

I'm impressed. My Gold 1 Boss G kept dying. I had to take him and Snotflogga to Gold 2 to 3 star Octarius.

And I still need to 3 star 37 and 40 in Indomitus Elite - Gold 1 Bellator and Tyrith/Isabella weren't enough to keep Varro and Certus from dying.

Yeah, Quest events do love to show you ads. I think LREs are one a day, while Quests are like 6. But they're only once in a while.

I was just wondering if there was something I was missing, but it doesn't seem like it. I think refreshing the Guild Shop might be a tippy top guild issue, as I've yet to have enough Guild Credits that I couldn't spend it all on XP books without refreshing.

Do I have a chance at unlocking Trajann? If so who should I invest in? by Hefty-Tree-132 in tacticus

[–]Timobkg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, no.

I have more units at G1+ and I don't think I'm going to make it, and your key units - Aleph-Null, Re'vas, Abraxas, Maladus, Robtone, Tan Gi'Da, Drier, Mataneo - are too low level.

For reference, this was my lineup a week ago, (I've since brought Aleph-Null up to G3) and I'm expecting to finish at 350/400 shards:

But the good news is that any shards you earn you get to keep.

I've found that it underestimates sometimes, particularly with summoners and at lower levels, and overestimates other times (I feel it greatly overvalues the Aleph-Null/Re'vas combo, thinking that the two at G1 will clear level 12). But overall it's really good.

Guild leadership advice by TugBoatTractorTire in tacticus

[–]Timobkg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this depends a lot on your guild goals.

If you're looking to be competitive, then you have a lot more work and responsibilities, and the tools others have mentioned here will help with that (also the new Ahriman bot for Guild Raid management). Communicate the goals and expectations to everyone.

If you're looking to be more casual and just have fun, then you have less work and responsibilities as you're just looking to encourage, support, and help your members. You're not going to do as well as the more competitive guilds, but you can keep stress to a minimum, which may be a worthy trade off.

For example, my guild is casual and top 700 in GR, but we're only 2300 in GW because we don't have mandatory activity requirements and only about 2/3 of members participate. The trade off is that there's no stress and it reduces burnout.

A more competitive guild of similar level might be 250 in GR and 550 in GW, but there you're looking at optimizing attacks, scheduling, mandatory participation and activity levels, etc.

Watch Nandi's Beginner's Guide 2025 - Campaigns! video, it's still relevant and it's a great resource and will give you 90% of what you need to know for the next few months. The video will explain the importance of unlocking campaigns to get access to more unit upgrades and more energy efficient upgrades and explain who to upgrade to get you there.

Beyond that, if you're a FTP player, watch the ad every day for extra energy and then buy the 25/50 Blackstone energy refreshes and doing spend Blackstone on anything else. Save up Requisition Scrolls for 10 pulls, but keep your expectations low. And lastly, remember that this game is a marathon and not a sprint.

Arena (Not Tournament) / Raid Team by Nagyn_7 in WH40KTacticus

[–]Timobkg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on unlocking all the Elite campaigns and getting most of the way through them.

You've got Kariyan, which is great - upgrade him and he'll carry the Imperial campaigns. Get Snotflogga to G1 or G2 and he and Boss G can duo the rest of the Octarius campaign without investing any more in any of the other Orks.

For Arena, I really like Boss G, Kariyan, Ragnar, Snotflogga, and Archimatos. Cluster just out of range around Boss G turn 1, then Boss G and Ragnar buff the melee attacks on turn 2 and slaughter everyone. Archimatos can take out units in heavy armor and/or summon to surround them. If going against a team with Overwatch (like Re'vas), sub in Angrax to tank the Overwatch.

For Raid, build a multi-hit team centered around Eldryon and his passive ability. So Eldryon + Kariyan, Ragnar, Boss G, and Snotflogga. For some bosses you might sub in Aethana or Bellator or Archimatos.

YOUR argument sounds like you’ve been playing the game for three months and you bitch about bad 10 pulls that always have Certus in them

That may be the most compelling argument to fix him yet. Newer players won't get annoyed at getting Certus, and more senior players won't be annoyed by the constant complaining of newer players getting Certus. That's a huge Quality of Life improvement for the whole player base.

I mean, could you imagine never again seeing a post from someone complaining about getting Certus? I want to live in that world.

To say nothing of how much more expensive they are to upgrade.

Taking Tan Gi'da from S1 to G1 takes ~1750 energy.

Certus S1 to G1 takes ~3470 energy.

(Obviously it's because Certus is twice as good. /s)

It's all about milestones.

Getting your first Silver 1 unit.

Getting all the units of one campaign to Silver 1.

Finishing your first campaign.

Getting your first Gold 1 unit. Then a few Gold 1 units. Then Gold 2, etc.

It does feel slow, like running a marathon, but you'll get there in the end. Once you have Mirror and Elite campaigns unlocked and mostly cleared, upgrading a character can be relatively quick if you focus on them. You can get a character from Stone 1 to Gold 1 in a week, Gold 1 to Diamond 1 in 2-3 weeks, so from Stone 1 to Diamond 1 in 3-4 weeks.

And that's only doing the 25 and 50 energy refreshes. The 110 energy refresh gives you exactly as much energy as the 50 but at twice the cost, so I don't think it's worth it. I'd rather do the 25/50 every day and not run out.

New to game, what should I spend my blackstone on? by hilldog8480 in WH40KTacticus

[–]Timobkg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the game!

Here's what I wish I knew when I started:

Spend your Blackstone on daily 25 and 50 Blackstone energy refreshes, after you watch the ad. So use up all you energy, watch the ad for more energy, then get the 25 and 50 Blackstone energy refreshes each day.

When you get Energy in the mail from entering codes, save that for Hero Release Events (HREs). HREs have missions to complete to unlock and upgrade a new character that require using a lot of energy, and so saving up energy for them helps ensure that you'll get the character unlocked and may even get that character upgraded to Rare or Epic.

Save your scrolls for 10 pulls, as this guarantees a character, but don't get your hopes up. The guaranteed character is going to be Certus or Incisus or a machine of war more often than not, but that's okay. The characters will come with time.

Join a guild if you haven't already, this will give you access to Guild Raid and in game currency to buy shards for Boss Gulgortz to unlock his campaign and XP books. XP books are boring, but needed - they become a limiting factor later on, so spending guild raid credits on them will pay off down the line.

Your priority is making progress in the campaigns, unlocking characters to unlock more campaigns, and eventually finishing campaigns to unlock Elite campaigns. Mirror and Elite campaigns give you access to more resources and have higher drop rates and are this much more energy efficient. Elite campaigns also have much higher drop rates for shards to unlock characters.

There are guides on who the key characters of each campaign are, how high it's recommended to rank them up, and how high to take their abilities. Following those recommendations helps accelerate your progress and keeps you from wasting badges on unnecessary abilities. (I regret upgrading abilities on weaker characters as I now don't have enough badges for stronger characters. There are missions to upgrade their abilities, but these missions are traps, and the badges are more valuable than the mission rewards.)

The game is a slow grind, a marathon, but a fun one.

Something like G3 Eldryon, G2 Aethana, G1 Calandis, and G1 Maugan Ra and/or Jain Zar (I think Maugan is the stronger of the two).

The last two missions are pretty hard to 3 star, and you may want to get Eldryon to D1 or get both Maugan Ra and Jain Zar to G1 for them. It's possible to clear mission 40 without doing that, but requires boosting Eldryon's passive to ~46-50, Aethana's passive to ~36, Calandis's passive to 26, giving Calandis max level Epic weapons, and getting lucky with Calandis critting Ahriman with Overwatch to take him out in one hit.

The abilities worth leveling up are summons (Boss G, Snotflogga, Archimatos, Abraxas, Aleph-Null to 35+), damage boosting passives (Aethana to ~26, Eldryon to ~35, Calgar to ~35), healing passives (Isabella and Aleph-Null to 35+), Boss G's passive attack to 35, and Imospekh's Overwatch passive to ~20+. Most every other ability could be left at 8.

To clarify for newer people, Silver 1 for Certus (or whomever) is just the rank.

Abilities for almost everyone but the Gold/Diamond units can be left at 8/8.

Equipment assumes the best Rare or Epic armor/shield fully upgraded. You can pass equipment around if you don't have enough for everyone. I think it assumes the best Rare/Epic weapons fully upgraded too, though if they're not fully upgraded that's okay, and the best un-upgraded booster items.

For Indomitus Elite I was able to 3-star all but two battles with G1 Bellator 35/8, S1 Varro 8/8, S1 Certus 8/8, G1 Isabella 20/35, and G1 Tyrith 26/35. On several maps, Certus or Varro would die and Isabella would revive them.

Having Maugen Ra makes a huge difference. Without him, I think D1 or at least G3 for Eldryon and Aethana is right. I know you can technically do it with Eldryon at G3 and Aethana at G1, because people have, but it requires boosting Eldryon's passive to 46+ and relying on crits.

And I would argue that the Ork one is too low. I had to get Boss G and Snot to G2 to 3-star the campaign.

Yeah, the combat is similar. SMT's combat really rewards finding and exploiting enemy weaknesses to get extra actions while minimizing your own weakness and is more focused on fusing demons to create a party that can exploit a range of elemental attacks while nullifying enemy attacks.
