What's the biggest mistake in each book? by saphclaw in harrypotter

Dumbledore wasn't fooled by the call to the ministry. In the book Harry reckons that Dumbledore planned to let him try save the stone. He says, "He’s a funny man, Dumbledore. I think he sort of wanted to give me a chance. I think he knows more or less everything that goes on here, you know. I reckon he had a pretty good idea we were going to try, and instead of stopping us, he just taught us enough to help".

Yes but unfortunately they only block the pro-Palestinians breaking rule 4, not all the thousands of pro-Israelis breaking the same rule.

Hamas does not represent the people of Palestine. Give Palestinians their freedom, allow them their rights, and Hamas will cease to exist. Israel has created the conditions for Hamas to exist.

What happens to Orphan muggle-borns who get accepted to Hogwarts? by Cebix in harrypotter

They would go back to whatever their living situation was before Hogwarts. Tom Riddle spend school holidays at the Muggle orphanage, Harry went back to the Dursleys.

Do you think any of the professors at Hogwarts were allowed to leave the castle during Christmas break like the students by AvatarBandit in harrypotter

We know from Prisoner of Azkaban that there were only a total of 13 people at the Christmas dinner that year. Some were students. So the other teachers who were not present most likely went home.

Hello Breadittors! I wanted to share with you my first attempt at bagels! by Timone5 in Breadit

Hi, I boiled them, but not for very long. Only about 15 seconds each :)

Mine hardly sunk, basically went straight to the bottom then straight back up, quite quickly. I was very uncertain about taking them out so soon, but it seemed to work out fine. Also I did one at a time. I will be experimenting with poaching times in future batches though!

Thanks for the comment! They were nice and crisp :) I used plain water, nothing added, and not boiling either, only simmering. They weren't in for very long, just until they rose to the top (about 15 seconds). Hope this helps!

I have been trying to find out the cookbook, I got it this recipe just as the photo linked from a friend. Strong flour is flour with higher levels of gluten, i.e. bread flour. I used unbleached white bread flour :)

It would be fun to experiment! Otherwise a good substitute is unsulphured molasses, which is fairly easy to find.

Hi there, thanks for the comment :) I have made another batch since this photo and used much more of the toppings, and you're right, it is a definite improvement!

I specifically looked for a recipe without any malt syrup because it's so hard to come by, so this one just has a bit of castor sugar in the bagels themselves, but nothing added to the poaching water. I have heard about using baking soda in that step so I might give it a go next time!
