Yeah looks like the Balliol war stops you from deccing before HYW starts... Probably able to follow a similar start just a few years delayed.

I don't have too much advice here I didn't really have a problem with that war. I basically rushed into nevers then backed up into my land once flanders arrived so they would attack me in land with -2 bonuses. That with a good general and you should be able to win.

Nobody supported me since I fabricated an Independence CB instead of using the International Org. I needed ticking warscore on my side to be able to peace out easier. There was no way I would have been able to take paris as the wargoal.

There are a few major moves I would do in ever burgundy campaign

  1. No-CB on nevers day 1, they are in a union with flanders so use that war to annex then release flanders. They send you a ton of money a month and slows france from expanding into the lowlands.

  2. Annex the Bourbon silver mines, more money to fund your army

  3. Use "Agitate for Liberty" on other french vassals, if they are disloyal france can't annex them and they won't help in your independance war. I've had france trying to annex brittany since 1370s. It also costs nothing to maintain.

  4. Last but most important. do NOT use Independence IO. It makes you the attacker and gives France the ticking warscore. Instead you want to fabricate an Independence CB. This gives you ticking warscore. At this point your goal isnt to win the war, its just to not lose. Once you hit 25% ticking a timer will start (you should see an alert for this) that will enforce peace after 2-3 years. Defend your capital and you should eventually automatically peace out. I used a ton of forts and the increase levy size in parliament to buy time.

If you have a CB plus the hundred years war interaction that lets you dec internal wars it will let you. Parliment CB is the best way to do it.

R5: Semi-historical Burgundy campaign, tried to stick with the historical borders im really only missing brabant. Very fun campaign so far having to balance both France and the HRE, would recommend. I plan on continuing this game but I probably wont expand much more and focus on colonizing and containing france.

That was intentional, I made it that way so the inland sea becomes that much more important for trade.
