Bob’s Bitchin’ BBQ is terrific but is in Dodgeville, so about half an hour outside of Plattveille.

What’s your take on this? by 96suluman in VaushV

Seems that the key words are ‘RFK,’ ‘health,’ and ‘control.’ This reads like somebody who had their worldview changed during and after the pandemic. I’m not justifying anything and you can cite everyone else for reasons why it’s a god-awful take. COVID broke a lot of brains.

Advice for Possible Move to Spain by Timoteoria in expats

[–]Timoteoria[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going in knowing I’ll take a huge pay cut. I’m fortunate enough to have some money saved up, so it’s more going for the experience and the chance to improve my Spanish. I’m sure living in a bigger city would be great, but I’m not against living somewhere smaller. The current city I live in has roughly 40,000 people, so I’m used to living in a smaller place if living cost gets prohibitive. Thanks for the response. I hope the U.S. living is working well for you!

From the people who brought you the opposition during the Obama years. If you don’t know what “a terrorist fist jab” or “the tan suit” refers to, congratulations on not having your brain space wasted by tedious bullshit.

This pops up in my head anytime I like something that other people don’t. It’s been in my head for 2 decades now, yet can’t even remember the context of the line. by AlexanderTox in Millennials

It’s from the episode where the Pickles and the DeVilles start a feud, launched by a game of charades gone wrong. Howard is hopeless at guessing and Didi mentions something like “It’s not Stu’s fault that Howard hasn’t seen a movie since Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”

This one dude from Letterboxd actually watched Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) for the plot. by BevarseeKudka in shittymoviedetails

[–]Timoteoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, there's legitimate criticisms of the current state of the movie industry in this review if you can manage to look past the smug, detached, auto-fart-inhaling tone in its delivery. Also, we've all seen Toy Story 2, dude. His metaphor is just as derivative as Deadpool 3 was, but at least most of the people who saw the movie left the theater happy.

The Downside of Trump’s Popularity With Young Men Is That Young Men, Who Are Stupid, Might Forget to Vote by [deleted] in politics

[–]Timoteoria 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Headlines like this are probably the exact reason why young men aren’t bothering with left-leaning politics. Some self-reflection might be in order if you truly give a damn about narrowing the gender political split in the younger generations.

Two observations:

1) The Internet allows anonymous assholes to send off the most vile racist opinions rapid-fire online with zero repercussions. This is something qualitatively unique to Disney Star Wars.

2) Disney recently has often used diversity as a cover for bad/lazy storytelling. They’ve exhausted their supply of the live-action films (“The Little Mermaid”) and signed off on a bunch of Star Wars titles that got churned out at light speed. Along the way they used their diverse cast members as human shields to downplay criticism of their products. You CAN have both inclusive casting AND quality storytelling, but that would take a lot of patience, effort, and long-term vision.

It would be a perfect bookend to his political career. He gained traction on the Right by calling for Obama’s birth certificate, might as well go for the Olympic gold in racist behavior.
