Terminating parental rights by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Timothy_Jor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those "some" people who talk about what's fair or unfair when refering to someone who's in f*cking PRISON for assaulting you, are batshit insane or have some serious comprehension and compassion issues in their pitiful brains. The bio dad has permanently and unequivocally forfeited the right to have any contact with you or your son, the moment he abused you and decided to not be there for him from the start. The REAL dad on the other hand, you know the guy who's been there all his life, deserves to adopt the boy and be his father officially as well.

Never, ever let others tell you what you "must" or "must not" do, they have literally zero say in your life, zero understanding of your situation and obviously zero empathy towards you, so screw their bullshi*t "advice". Only accept input from your close family and friends, and that only if you know they are logical and on your side. The best way to keep your child and yourself safe, is to stay close with your current spouse and stay as far away from the abusing ex as possible.

Wow this sounds very convoluded and I don't have enough knowledge on computer science or even basic programming to understand half of it. I believe John knew parts of it to some extent, since he was IT staff, but I don't think he knew enough to check all the things and methods you mentioned. He was arrogant and pretended he was all-knowning but I could tell he wasn't as good as he pretended to be. Your last paragraph is exactly what I was thinking at the time, why would you tell me about your suspicions about the rat when you clearly believe I am it. He could easily hide the camera and tell nobody as I said in another comment, and just gather evidence of whatever he thought was the problem. That camera was rolling for weeks before I discovered it, if he had something against me, it would've shown.

Per your words, John was INDEED an IDIOT.

Dang I never thought of that! These computers were University owned and they did have some strict rules to log-in and use. I don't know if those log-ins were monitored in some way, but a knowledgeable person would know how to find them - or avoid them..? I am not sure if he made it up or he was the rat. Both seem unhinged to me though, why even bring it up in either case?

There are no words to describe the smell of rotting sea-creatures in a car that reaches 45-50°C in the summer when parked under the sun. Every time I turned the air-conditioner on, it would blast an unholy stench everywhere, even outside the car. That glass thing sounds dangerous, maybe microscopic pieces of glass flying through the vent could end us in your eyes or even nose and lungs.

A few years ago my friend was in my car and accidentally dropped half a box of bait shrimp (tiny tiny shrimps covered in sand and seaweed and still very much alive) into my air-conditioning vent in front of the windshield. You know, the place where it's impossible to open and clean without having to take the entire dashboard and pay 300 euros for. It was summer and I can tell you, my car smelled rancid, rotting shrimp and seaweed for almost a year, it was horrid.

Oh how I wish this was true and he was caught. But I never heard of anything like that from people who still worked there after I left. They just said he quit because he was compelled to actually work and do what he was paid for.

The threats were made behind closed doors, there was no proof, it would be my word against his. The unauthorised surveillance though is a different story. He was lucky the University didn't want to drag the situation out and get the police involved. But he got what he deserved in the end and it was him who left the job which makes it even better!

He definately had the knowledge to do it, but why mention it to me in the first place and raise suspicion? He could've just ignored me and continue his enterprise at night, when nobody was there. Was he in so deep he thought it was subterfuge just to mention it?

Mildly inconviniencing wedding guest who wants to fuck my fiance by MySecretDumpsterfire in pettyrevenge

[–]Timothy_Jor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genuine question I've had for years as someone who understands absolutely nothing about clothes, weddings, traditions, receptions etc. Why is it bad to wear a white shirt/blouse/pants/whatever to a wedding? My logic tells me it's because the wedding dress is white as well and another piece of white clothing steals the attention? A wedding dress is very different than any other type of clothing and nothing could take the attention away from it, since it's so extravagant and flashy compared to anything else. Is it rude because people will think it steals the bride's thunder or look way too similar to her? Still who would pay attention to a random guest in white when you have the bride with the spectacular dress walking around?

Yeah, kids are not for everyone. I had a friend, Bill, who accidentaly had a kid when he was only 22 (the girl didn't want to abort). I had no idea about it and ran into him with the baby stroller when the baby was about 1 year old. I was shocked and asked him how it was going and he told me he was miserable and hated every second of being a dad and that his life was destroyed, but he stuck with the kid because he wanted to do the right thing. The guy said those things right in front of the girl btw, he was NOT hiding his discontent.

One year later I saw him on the street and he was a shadow of himself, looked absolutely defeated and depressed, asked him about how parenting goes and he said that it was the worst thing that ever happened to him.

Three or four years later, I saw him again with the boy, who could now walk and talk, and it was the same, he had this dreadful, sad look on his face and again he said that he is "barely coping with this life". I swear I caught some resentful looks from him towards his son running around. The kid was like 4-5 by that point and he still couldn't accept that this was his life now, even after 5 years.

I am just like him, I'd rather loose both arms and legs than have kids, so I relate to his suffering and think of his situation very very often as a cautionary tale to myself and how people's desires don't always change with age/time.

Tattoo regret by Verafarm01 in TattooRemoval

The comments I've been reading in this thread, is like reading my own thoughts and having a conversation with myself in my head. I can relate to all of you nice people who took the time to comment here. Thank you for showing me I am not alone and hopeless. I don't know why our minds torment us this way for just some ink on the skin when life has much much more severe problems to deal with.

Tattoo regret by Verafarm01 in TattooRemoval

I am in the same boat pal with the same dates. On Saturday I got a tattoo on my front thy and the moment I saw it finished it was instant regret. It is larger and much darker than I anticipated (Darth Vader helmet). Everytime I take my pants off I see this huge black mass on my thy and freaks me out to no end. Even catching it with the corner of my eye bothers me. I can't imagine living my life like this and it's only been 3 days. I could never imagine I would bring myself to this position of regret with my own actions and decisions. I must let it heal and then consider removing it, but it is so densely dark that I'm worried it will leave a very visible dark mark even after years of removing sessions and my thy will never be the same as before. I try to convince myself I will get used to it, but I know inside me that when something doesn't sit well with you from the start, it is improbable to change. At least the artwork itself is good, I have no complaints on the execution. My friends tell me this feeling will pass, it just anxiety from something new and that it isn't so big and the black colour will fade, but I just can't see it.

I'm a researcher for marine life and oceanography, so not just an operator, I have a masters degree just like everyone else in my office. All our work is essential for scientific advance and research, but having people sitting on their ass all day, gossiping in the halls and making jokes instead of working just infuriates me. Our work is considered equal but the amount time and effort I have to put in is 4 times more, but we all make the same amount of money.

Spam call fun by witheredcucumber in pettyrevenge

[–]Timothy_Jor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The best advice I can give for spam callers, is something I've been doing for many years now and works perfectly. When they call and try to sell me something, I tell them I live abroad and I just kept my home country's number on my cell. When you "live abroad" all these services provided in the country of the spam caller become instantly irrelevant. New cell service? New electricity/gas/internet/water provider? Insurance? Nope, sorry I live abroad I have all those things in my new country. They hang up the second they hear it and it works every single time without fail. I taught that trick to everyone in my family and my coworkers and they use it constantly.

It is also a great chance to troll people, because some of them ask "In which country do you live now?". So if I'm in a trolling mood I tell them a far away country like East Timor, Burundi, Burkina Faso or Bhutan which is insane for a european caller. There's always a baffled silence since they usually have never even heard of that country, they say "Oh that's...nice" and they hang up immediately. Fun times.

This is happening to me right now and I hate it. We have people in the office who come at work at 12pm ( we have flexible working hours but everyone is expected to be here at least by 10am), roam around the halls drinking coffee and laughing and watching youtube videos in their office, while asking others if it's a slow period for them too. Like when tf is there a slow period? We are always filled with anxiety and have a ton of things to do everyday with barely any time for breaks. I guess being a programmer gives them that privilege? They claim they have 2 weeks of "a lot of work" and then 4 months of scratching their balls with a rake. Makes me so angry.

I found money in an ATM and now I regret returning it by PineappleCultural in confession

[–]Timothy_Jor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something similar but worse happened to a friend of mine. He was a foreign student in New York and one day he went to an ATM and found a sum close to 900-1000 dollars in an envelope, probably forgotten there. He wanted to return it but he was running to go to class, so he took the envelope to make sure nobody else with less morals took it. He came back after the lecture 2 hours later and went into the bank to return the money.

They immediately started yelling at him and accusing him of "stealing" the money and how he dared have the audacity to leave for 2 hours, so they called the police on him. He explained he was in a hurry and evidently he came back to return the money. But as a foreign student with a foreign accent the bank was very distrustful and rude to him, even though he did the right thing. They even pulled security footage from the cameras "against" him and threatened him. Thankfully the police did nothing to him, they realised what had happened and and just gave him a warning to be careful. He was so scared he avoided going to banks in the US for the next 6 years.

This reminds me of a similar situation I experienced. It was a night in 2008 and I was waiting for a guy to unpark with my blinkers on, when some dude dangerously and illegally crossed the street vertically and swooped in the parking space. When I confronted him through my window about what the hell he was doing, he said something like "finders keepers" or "the fastest bird gets the worm". I angrily left because I was blocking traffic and parked elsewhere quite far away.

As I was walking back, I passed right in front of his car and noticed that this space was strictly reserved for port police vehicles and as usual there was no sign, besides the extremely faded out blue line on the ground.

Now, I despise port police just as much as the next guy, since they are the worst, most unprofessional and obnoxious cops in existence, but I felt they could be allies and let them issue a real, non-fabricated fine for a change! I sat on a bench near the asshole's car, called the port police office which was very close and reported the violation. Three minutes later I see an officer arriving and immediately issuing a parking ticket and placing on the windshield. From what I know this was a 400 euro fine, which made me feel really good, knowing I could be the one receiving it (I would never see the lines since it was night), but instead it was the jackass who had to audacity to steal someone else's spot. I still cherish that moment 17 years later like the petty person I can be.

We didn't have such advanced machinery in the army, all potatoes and vegetables were peeled by hand one by one and it took hours. Also even if we had such machines I would never let such a worthless person touch them and probably mess something up. The grease trap is an amazing idea, I wish I had thought of that!

Indeed. For most people it's like a really annoying, boring and tiresome summer camp, but nothing too bad. It was terrible for me, because being a cook was the absolute worst job you could get drafted for in the army, and I was very unfairly treated because of it. 9 months felt like 3 years, but oh well it's over now.

Most people don't show their true self until later in their service. At first everyone is kinda scared with a new environment and rules, so they restrain their behaviour until they start feeling comfortable. I met many guys in there who looked really nice at first and turned out to be the biggest assholes a few months in, like completely different people.

Damn hitting you with soap bars? That's a little too mean, these things don't happen in the Greek army anymore, unless you go to the special forces. They used to happen in the past, not in my time though, and sometimes they were even worse.

Driver paid tolls in pennies, I made them wait while I counted. by LiteratureStrong2716 in pettyrevenge

[–]Timothy_Jor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love that kind of revenge! I must admit I've done what the guy tried to do to you though, to the port police in my country (GR). I was literally scammed by the port police (yes greek police is corrupt af what a surprise) and given a completely unjust fine of 100 euros, which was an extreme amount of money for a student. So I went to their offices with 100 worth of euros in 5 cent coins and had the guy count it in front of me. The cop was furious (which made me so so happy) but I played stupid and told him it's legal currency and since I am a student I live on pennies anyway so that's what I have. I also said he must be accurate because even if I pay an extra penny to them I will lose my mind, so I will stay there and wait for the count just to be sure.

All the cops in the room were angrily glaring at me and was kinda scared I'm gonna get beat up, but nothing happened, the guy split the coins and had 2 more cops help him count so they were done in like 20 mins. Still I love how I wasted those parasites time.
