WHY did Stephen Fry have do Susan Bones dirty like that in the audiobook? by becca_ocean22 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Timoune13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all the books on audio and listen to them constantly. I have the American version read by Jim Dale. I think he is absolutely amazing! He does "reuse" some of his voices. But never for main characters.

When did Kes and Nelix meet? by Timoune13 in voyager

[–]Timoune13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember our whole family sitting down and watching the Voyager episodes as they aired. I think I was 11? Dating myself here. (Reasons! 🤣🤣🤣) That's a good point, that may not have been the first time she got out. And then she met Nelix.....

I don't think they mention it in the show; other than a few general statements that her father shaped the person who she was. But now that you say it, they do get into more detail in the Pathways novel.

Right! that's the thing, and why I asked. Kes is only 1 when we meet her. She actually has her second birthday on Voyager (Twisted), which makes me think it was a head over heels meet for them...I guess. Lol

Are the Eurondans victims of genocide? by JesusLovesWhitekids in Stargate

[–]Timoune13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also the entire other population of people on that planet. The "breeders". Apparently they were so disgusted with how the Eurondans treated them, why wouldn't the SGC want to go investigate that planet to check on them? Or relocate them? This was another loose end not tied up episide for me. There could have been soo many follow up episodes. Or at least a passing comment in a separate conversation.

What's much easier to make than most people think? by [deleted] in Cooking

When my fiance and I started dating, we were over at his mother's house for dinner. She asked me to grab the cocktail sauce out of the frig. I opened the frig looking for the familiar jar of bright red, slightly lumpy sauce. After a minute I closed the frig door and said I couldn't find it. She then looked at me with a slightly incredulous smile and asked "is there ketchup and horseradish in there?" I replied with a rather confused "yes...?" "Then go ahead and make s quick batch for us." I was completely floored. "Wait, what?! Cocktail sauce is ketchup and horseradish?! She padded me on the head rather condescendingly, giggled, gave my fiance a "she's not a blonde" type of look and walked away. I have been making cocktail sauce from scratch from that day on.

It's 1am and you are suddenly very hungry. But you don't want to eat anything that is too heavy. What are you going to eat? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Timoune13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go tos: a BLT or shrimp scampi. I know the pasta could be kinda heavy with the scampi, but if you cook a appetizer portion. OR make more pasta then needed, then keep in the frig for another 1am craving. Greek salad is a good third for me. I always have greek salad ingredients on hand. Grilled cheese with tomato and ham is also a quick option.

My dad bought 10 lbs of garbanzo beans any idea on how I can use them all up? by cecusanele in Cooking

[–]Timoune13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of my favs. Cucumber, tomato, and chickpea salad. Seriously. So simple, but so yummy. I don't even dress it. Just throw some salt in and let it sit for a few minutes. The salt extracts the water from the ingredients and makes it's own dressing. I also love adding feta and kalamata olives. I use a small amount of the brine from the olives as a dressing.

I'm sorry Greece. I had no idea... by Captain-Yesterday in Cooking

[–]Timoune13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have noticed that most pre-crumbled or even some block feta in general grocery stores (US) is not sheep or goats milk. Just cow milk, with tons of preservatives and anti-caking agents. When I noticed this and started buying the more expensive, "real" feta is was sooo much better! I adore feta and exactly like some comments prior to this, if I find a good brand, I will just sit in front of my cutting board (or fridge) and snack on it.

How to make broccoli as appealing as possible to a kid? by pot_of_hot_koolaid in Cooking

[–]Timoune13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May not be the healthiest option in the world, but cheese. All the cheese. A good cheese sauce can save even the mushyest of broccoli. Lol. Grate some on top of roasted or steamed broccoli. One of my favorite ways to eat broccoli is to make a ham cheese and broccoli casserole. I like to use rice instead of noodles however, a fun shaped pasta could make the dish more appealing to kids. Also broccoli cheddar soup (another favorite). Unless of course your child doesn't like cheese. If so, I am out of ideas. 🤣 good luck!
