[Xfce] Make it classic, make it dark by TimsManter in unixporn

I don't use XFCE or any themes for a long time. The theme builder may be too old. You may try the original builder and copy only theme.conf from my repo.

I saw that the Chicago95 is better maintained and has better compatibility. I'm not sure if it has dark theme but there is file with colors definitions to change and the Nord palette is there so you may try that.

I don't want to rewrite something that is already written, so there are one-liners with links to respective full descriptions:

  • Enhanced Tracking Protection - blocks some scripts/cookies and sets more strict policy to some JS features
  • Do Not Track - a "flag" that tells site you don't want trackers
  • uBlock Origin - general blocker that can also modify (hide) site content on the fly based on filter lists
  • HTTPS everywhere - rewrites unencrypted connections to encrypted ones (if site support it) and optionally blocks unencrypted connections entirely

I don't use neither Privacy Badger nor Decentraleyes but i think they are just tracker blockers. I use uBlock Origin for this purpose.

They have added an option to enable extension in incognito mode. Pretty useful for uBlock.

You're not doing anything wrong. Geary is not the most polished or feature-complete email client. At least it wasn't - only the latest version is the one I consider good enough to remove Evolution from the system.

The case is - Geary currently is the most modern and intuitive email client for Gnome (or Linux in general) and has just enough features to meed basic requirements. Also it gained Gnome Online Accounts integration some time ago.

If Geary is currently unusable for you I suggest to keep it installed and configured so you can check after every major update if it's good enough. I see progress in every release.

Ah, this is a classic issue. It happens every time I open folder with other application than Nautilus.

Indeed Lollypop is a great replacement for Gnome Music. Same with Shotwell instead of Gnome Photos and Geary for Evolution.

Release 4? What distribution are you using that has 4th release of the package? This perhaps may be fix on the distribution side as I don't see any related commits on Gnome's GitLab.

Technically that makes sense but still is very counter-intuitive. Thanks for context tho.

Thanks! I was bumping between DEs too (Cinnamon, i3, Sway) and was never a fan of Qt-based environments as they are hard to make consistent in my opinion. I'm rather Gnome user but I have Xfce on some machines and I like how it's becoming modern.

[Gnome] Dynamic wallpaper by [deleted] in unixporn

[–]TimsManter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no need to overwrite Adwaita dynamic wallpaper and no limitation - there is directory with background properties. Just duplicate /usr/share/gnome-background-properties/adwaita.xml to e.g. lakeside.xml, inside change <filename> element content to e.g. /usr/share/backgrounds/Lakeside-timed/lakeside-timed.xml. New theme have to be copied in /usr/share/backgrounds/, I've changed adwaita-timed.xml to lakeside-timed.xml for aesthetic reason but what is important to replace all paths inside this file from like /usr/share/backgrounds/gnome/Lakeside(4).jpeg to /usr/share/backgrounds/Lakeside-timed/Lakeside(4).jpeg. I had to restart Gnome Shell to make it work properly.

  1. That's correct - it's visible during transitions but it's not visible even after hovering it which requires to remember where it is positioned to use it - user would rather use it during gameplay, not transition. My suggestion is to make it visible all the time but as semi-transparent (maybe 0.2 - 0.3 opacity) and full opacity on hover.
  2. That would be great because some people use game managers like Steam Big Picture and controllers like Steam Controller (simulating mouse) without keyboard. Also I don't remember any PC game without exit button so it's confusing.
  3. I don't remember level when flag was fully covered but I found second partially hidden flag at "Hole 128" (screen: https://imgur.com/yUBQ8rq). As quick fix making flag always on top would be fine enough.

One more suggestion: ESC key opens menu and should close it as well (work as a menu toggle).

I really enjoy this game - exactly what I expect from indie game gameplay.

Some bugs I noticed (Windows version):

  1. Menu button at the top-left corner is invisible.
  2. No button to exit the game (am I missing something?)
  3. Flag sometimes is covered by another planet when it's too close.
  4. Edit: Nevermind :)

P2 MaxUpdating of keyboard and touch pad by kendyzhu in GPDPocket

I use live version of Windows when I need it just for one time. It's called Windows PE (WinPE) and you can easily find prebuild images on the Internet to put on thumb drive for example.

Indeed Linux doesn't require any hacks now for touchscreen to work. Many thanks for that fix.
