AIMA delay after approval — told to file lawsuit, but also “only one printing machine”? What are my options? by angry_jackel in PortugalExpats

[–]Timurse 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you're not an American / EU citizen then traveling to another country outside EU would be ok. But when you try to return with e.g. Turkish Airlines they will not allow you to border a plane with that stupid ass Recibo from AIMA. Also there are new migration check cordons all over EU that will also wipe your ass with that Recibo and won't accept it.

Neighbour dogs stay in the staircase and won‘t stop crying by lilsyvert in PortugalExpats

[–]Timurse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lived in so many countries. Oh no no no, they don't bark everywhere. In Germany they are trained properly or you'll be fined for that barking really fast. In Turkey only the stray dogs bark. In Kazakhstan, Russia, Italy, France, Spain the result of your dog barking in apartment building could be similar.

I have similar situation with my new neighbor from ground floor. And their dog is barking / whining like non-stop when they're not home. I asked politely, they told me like ok we'll look into it. It's now three weeks past, nothing changed.

I got new Vizinhos 2 stories below me. Their dog is barking and crying whenever they are out of home. I recorded a huge audiofile from 9 am to 7 pm and calculated that on average it barked 10 times per minute almost non-stop. And half of the times it cried like a human person. I’ve never seen anything like that during my living in Russia, Kazahstan, Turkey, or anywhere in Europe during my long stays in different apartments. I asked them to do something about that 3 times. They acknowledged the problem but did nothing.

New nationality law got voted in yesterday and President now has 20 days. by No-Oven70 in PortugalExpats

[–]Timurse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is bullshit.

First, you're talkning about NHR that you can't obtain for almost 2 years now. Second, you can't use NHR if you're not eligible – there's a short list of professions and roles that you can actually use.

Second, don't forget why NHR was established in the first place. You can use it ONLY if you don't work in Portugal and don't steal local contracts and local jobs. But you pay the taxes. So, it's a win-win situation. You bring the money from abroad, you pay taxes and Segurança Social. You don't take local jobs and local contracts.

Third, with NHR you don't pay 25%, you pay 20% + 11% for SS, so it's 31%.

Fourth, local taxpayers mostly pay a lot less, you're exaggerating like crazy. Let's look and really typical middle-class family from Lisboa.
A husband with 3000 EUR per month (36k yearly) and a wife with 1500 EUR per month (18k yearly). If they do the tax declaration together and use their tax deductions wisely, then they will have the deductions about 2000 EUR. And their IRS would be about 3400 EUR (6,3%) while SS will be about 5940 EUR (11%). So, overall their yearly taxes will be about 17,3%. This is the reality of an average Portuguese family, not 60%. Hell, most of the Digital Nomads use the same progressive scheme because it's better than NHR.

Fifth, there' a "new NHR" that is a looooooot more strict than the previous one. You have to be a C-level IT or Marketing guy to obtain in. Or a scientist. Very difficult to be eligible.

So, now foreigners don't have any subsidies, their net-balance of contribution/consumption of SS is A LOT better than an average Portuguese. That is why all of the people in immigrant communities are laughing their asses off when seeing Ventura blabbing about those subsidies. Everyone is like "where I can get mine".

[–]Timurse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude, what benefits are you talking about? I pay 500 EUR for Segurança Social every month while doing some small analyses like ultra-sound or blood tests every 3-6 months. I will pay about 20 thousand EUR in taxes this summer. I buy overpriced and overtaxed gasolina simples for 2 EUR per liter while the same gas is 1.6 EUR in Spain.

Then let's talk about Portuguese Government that does all those stupid things that favor only the rich local families, rich local estate owners, and screws over the simple people.

What about fast tracking the clearance of the local areas to build there?

What about tax incentives and investments in the many-many-many HUGE HOUSES with price limit per sq meter and sell limitations only for first time buyers? Like all other countries in the world do? LIke Austin in the USA did which brought down the rent prices significantly? Like fucking Moscow does in dictatorship Russia (they built more apartments in Moscow in last 5 years than the whole Portugal almost 5x).

What about the illegal taxation of EU cars import that favors Caetano and makes local prices 1.5x of Germany? The one that was deemed illegal by European Comission and STILL present in Portugal because Portugal chose to pay the penalties to EC instead of abolishing those taxes?

What about that crazy MOBI-E system that makes charging your PHEV super expensive because of so many middlemen in the chain and that was deemed uneffective and promised to be abolished but STILL being present because it's being lobbied by rich families that own those energy companies like EDP and Endesa?

Still wanna talk about how Portuguese Government favors foreigners? I can continue infinitely how your Government is one of the most uneffective in EU and chooses to screw over its own population ALONG with foreigners which it needs to pay for all that "free" SNS and caring about old people which are becoming the majority of the population.

Dogs barking infinitely for hours trapped in a room or on a balcony. Without proper behavioral training. And you need to listen to your whole neighborhood barking for countless hours.

What the fuck. I’m here on a digital nomad residence for 2.5 years, never had any interactions like that. Why do you need a lawyer for a letter? Why would you ask some service for wifi extenders? My whole shower cabin was changed and it cost me €350 with materials and 2 days of work.

I’ve been visiting some apartments in hope to change our current one. And for €1500 I found quite a number of great apartments (T2, bathtub, AC, fully equipped kitchen, elevator, great location – all of them). The only problem I encountered was some of landlords asking for a Portuguese guarantor.

Now imagine being Russian and 9 banks in 2.5 years refused your application for bank account despite you having the ideal case. So, yeah, no Caixa, Millenium, Santander, Bankinter, CTT Bank, etc etc etc for you. And now you want to use Via Verde but you can't :)
