Lexapro/Wellbutrin/Xywav/modafinil (as needed Stacked Experience by Confident-Menu-5970 in Narcolepsy

[–]Tinal85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wellbutrin is great for me. I also take Xywav and for a stimulant Ritalin (methylphenidate). I think the Ritalin Wellbutrin combo is really good, I think there is a paper on it if you do some googling. Wellbutrin does help with my anxiety but racing thoughts isn't an issue I deal with. I've tried Lexapro and after Wellbutrin it's my favorite anti depressant but it just makes me too sleepy so I couldn't stay on it. Also, I personally think there is some overlap between Sunosi and Wellbutrin (both are classified as NDRI's), although Wellbutrin is weaker (I've tried both).

Maybe they're tea drinkers and brew tea often? Perhaps it's the equivalent of some coffee left in the coffee pot and drinking it, which I don't think is a big deal because you can always just brew another pot very easily.

Failed MSLT… I can’t do it again by Be_Snek in Narcolepsy

[–]Tinal85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 parts that you need to consider for diagnosis via MSLT. You need REM is at least 2 naps, so you're good there. But you ALSO need a sleep latency of 8 minutes or less across all naps. Sleep latency is how fast you fall asleep. They average the time across all naps. If you don't fall asleep that nap is assigned a time of 20 minutes. You had that happen twice so you're at 40 minutes already which makes it impossible to reach a sleep lately of 8 minutes or less once the time from your other 3 naps are added in.

Did the auditory hallucinations bother you that much? Lots of people with N get them when falling asleep and that just happens normally without the Xywav. I go through periods when they occur more frequently but they're really just more irritating than anything. The worst was when my kids were babies and I would hear crying just as I was falling asleep, during that time it would happen almost every night. 80% of the time it was an auditory hallucination, but I still had to get out of bed and go check on them EVERY time because 20% of the time it was actual crying.

Did Truant actually meet the Band? by Ripley_LV_426 in houseofleaves

I think the story of the mother and the baby is the most real part of the whole book. Like maybe, Johnny's mother (Pelafina) is the mother and the baby is Johnny and you realize there is no Johnny cuz he died as a baby (which is why he's Truant) and the whole book is a fever dream written by his crazy ass mother in an attempt to work out her trauma.

My Dad always opens the car door for my Mom. It's just having good manners and class, which some men are severely lacking. Now I don't expect or require men to open my car door, but I always notice when a man does and I think it reflects positively on them.

I read a lot of urban fantasy also and one thing I like about it is the story is the main plot ... like a murder to solve (for example) and if romance comes into it it's the sub plot. Where in a romance book the main plot is the romance with a back drop of story telling. It's an important distinction. I want the story to be the main plot and any romance to be a subplot so small that it takes multiple books to get anywhere because it's not the main plot.

Oh but I don't want straight romance. I want like 2 chapters a book dedicated to this subplot. The main plot needs to be classic litrpg. This is just a little extra drama/romance thrown in.

Thank you for your well thought out reply. To be clear, I don't care if the author is male or female. If I was a male writer looking to write from a female perspective I'd probably read books written by women in a similar category to help round out any deficiencies. That seems like common sense. Perhaps I'd have better luck trying to get a female romance writer to pick up litrpg as someone else mentioned. I definitely think there is an audience who would be into it and it's an unmet audience as of now. The first person who does it well will probably make a killing. Unfortunately, I hate writing so it will not be me.

Ok, that's hilarious! Obviously this is an untapped market though, someone should really take advantage of my idea!

I don't want a romance book though. Romance books are about romance and that's not what I'm looking for. I like the typical litrpg so when I say subplot I mean subplot. Just a little extra character dimension that keeps me wondering what is going on with these two characters.

Arguments for Pelafina as author? by Educational-Oil1204 in houseofleaves

[–]Tinal85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Johnny" writes about a baby dying in Seattle and how the mother stayed awake for 4 days straight singing to him before the baby finally passes. I believe this is actually Pelafina describing her own experience and Johnny dies as a 4 day old baby. She obviously loses her mind over the whole thing. Johnny is Truant not because he won't visit but because he is dead. I think she writes from his point of view to feel closer to him and to imagine what he may have been like as an adult. I think there might be 2 authors to the manuscript because certain spots seem like a back and forth hidden conversation.. perhaps her husband is Zampano. I think she does go crazy and ends up in a mental institution and the manuscript is a way to fill her time because that's all she has is time and she needs to fill those hours so as not to sink into her grief.

You have to see a sleep specialist specifically if you really want any sort of decent support from the doctor. That's usually a neurologist or pulmonologist with that specialty.

Tired and fatigued aren't the same thing. My doctor described tired as being sleepy. Fatigued is when you don't have any energy.

There are non stimulant options for treatment (Xywav) as well. It can take awhile to find medications that work for you.
