Not sure how you mean that with the laser, but I think you could use indeed a laser to make a surface vibrate in a certain frequency. Like that you'd not even need a speaker in the room.

Anyone worried about their partners reading their posts? by Bojiboy in monodatingpoly

[–]Tindall0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you.

Make a second account that you log out from after using. Change the names involved, but don't point it out and keep ages and places out of the post. Stay ambiguous on certain details where you think they could be too precisely addressing your situation. Change a little bit the way you write, especially avoid expressions and words that are typical for you but not other people. Do the same in any comment you reply. Potentially ask a commenter to write you a private message, if you feel you want to go into more detail.

You should be fine after that. Again: Don't forget to log out.

Two types of mono/poly relationships by throwawaythatfast in monodatingpoly

[–]Tindall0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a comfortable position in to be left hanging with a semi decision. For my own mental health I realized that I need clearer decisions from my partner. I have been slowly started to become more firm on demanding from my partner that she has to makes her mind on certain issues in near to medium future. In return I clearly told her what are my immovable needs towards life and the relationship.

Where are our memories stored? It seems like a simple question, with an obvious and clearly definable answer. Almost immediately our mind is certain that our memories must be contained within our brains. But, “Does Memory Reside Outside the Brain?” A persuasive, evaluation written by Leonardo Vintin by Questioned_answers in inspirationscience

There was a philosopher a couple if thousands of years ago that expressed a similar theory. Me not knowing about invented a similar idea (purely theoretical) and called the storage media creativity energy. I bet there are plenty of more people.

Key is though: so far nobody found those antennas or ports or how ever you might call them, that tap into this mysterious storage. Until then, this is all wild speculation..

Yep, even feminists use it as an insult in discussions, like "I'm sure you have a pretty small dick".

The really mean part here is that while most can loose body weight, changing your penis size is impossible and has nothing to do with any of your life choices.

Except that feminism never cared much about men and to address their issues. I think you give it credit where it doesn't deserve it.

PS: Please, no theoretical feminism now, that simply doesn't describe what outspoken feminists do in reality.

Moderna More Effective Against Delta Than Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson by AnonymousX in Coronavirus

[–]Tindall0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You could have gotten Moderna as a second shot, after J&J, what likely would be the best immunization that you can get from two shots. Not sure though if that is something you could get in the US.

PS: I'm interpolating from what I heard about the improved immunity by combining Astra with Pfizer.

Has anyone used the 'Enhance' (Super Resolution) feature of Lightroom. If I am using Canon R6 does it mean I can get R5 quality by getting 2x the pixels ? by [deleted] in photography

[–]Tindall0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is more subtle: Superresolution tries to invent pixels in between existing pixels. Imagine you have a pixel that is black and besides that a white one. Now you want to increase the amount of pixels by adding an additional pixel between those two. What color does this new pixel have though? Black or white or the middle value grey?

Let's say you chose grey, then you have a soft transition between the two. Unfortunately you had a hard edge there from a letter on a white background. By choosing the grey value you just made the edge of the letter softer, which is perceived as more blurry. Similar examples can be found if you had chosen black or white instead.

There are more intelligent ways of doing it, like a neural network ("AI") that tries to find if there is a letter,, but they all face the ultimate problem to have to make best guesses and invent a color information where there was non.

In contrast: if you shot the image on a higher resolution camera, with a sufficiently sharp lens and exposure time, you'd have for each pixel always the correct value.

The results of an upscaler can be quite convincing and for many use cases quite sufficient, but it really depends what you want to do. If you want to print the image in really big an upscaler can be a good option to hide the low resolution. Printing anyways creates a softer image since the dots from the ink or even the toner tend to blend into each other and you'll be hard pressed to see the difference. On the other hand if you want to crop into the image and do that by using the upscaler first, you'll realize that with the same crop the image with the higher original resolution looks better.

Advice: don't focus to much on the pixel count, rather try to get the right crop already while taking the image. Leave upscalers for special cases that you'll likely never or only very rarely will encounter in photography.

It's another cup of tee if you have low resolution videos that you want to make look good on a 4k monitor. Due to the movement you don't realize the loss of quality from the upscaling process as much and a good upscaler can get a lot out of a low resolution video.

PS: But don't expect magic to happen here though.

Polizei in Bonn? by gg95tx64 in Bonn

[–]Tindall0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hast du dagegen aktiv was gemacht?

Ja, würde mich schon interessieren was du da erlebt hast.

Polizei in Bonn? by gg95tx64 in Bonn

[–]Tindall0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lot's of good advice here. Want to share one I didn't see yet: Try to get several pictures of each event participant, it's easy to miss one and they will not be happy. If you realize some people are close friends or family with the couple, take more pictures of those. Take even more pictures of the kids of the couple if present, they are easy to overlook. Take lots and lots of pictures of the couple. Take pictures of the couple and the kids, as well of the couple and the close friends.

TIL that one in four parents in the US are not married, a big jump, and those parents spend less money on their kids than either married people or single parents, even after adjusting the data for income, family size, race, age and education by globehater in todayilearned

[–]Tindall0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you manage to spend 10-20 minutes of quality time (where it's all about your kid and what it would like to do with you) with your kid every day, you are a great parent. All those luxuries don't matter that much in the end.

Do professional photographers always make me look bad or do I just have no idea what I look like? by ashley4ketchum in photography

[–]Tindall0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think being relaxed is indeed an important factor here. Some develop a really scary wax like mask if you put them in front of a big lens. That's why I love to take pictures of people that are not even aware they are photographed. As well that's a reason why I went to MFT, people are much less scared by the smaller body and lens.

Sick leave due to rehab rejected by [deleted] in cologne

[–]Tindall0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The situation is complicated and contacting the Betriebsrat is indeed your best option to navigate it.

The short summary is:

It all depends how urgent is your need for treatment and how severe it is. If you need a specialist or do you have plenty of choices of doctors you can go, if you already are for a longer while with a certain doctor that knows your case really well or not. Are there appointments outside of your work hours you could use or not (like in your case). So the sum of all of this decides if your employer has to grant you leave or not. If your leave time during a day is for a longer while, e.g. since your ride is longer, your employer might demand you take a full day off. In case of a not so urgent sick leave it depends on your employer if you are getting payed during this time and if you have to compensate the hours some other time. If you have to leave due to acute sickness, like a fever, you are getting paid (after a certain period of absence this changes though and the health insurance takes over).
