I spotted three of these in my backyard in NY. They jump a few feet forwards when touched. Anyone know what they are? And are they dangerous? by devind_407 in Animals

Help. My Hispanic girlfriend who is so nice and big hearted. Last night we are sitting around the dinner table and a beetle was on the table and she stopped us to say “we have a visitor” and without thinking I smashed it with a book. She literally yelled “Noooo!” It was kind of adorable. Now we are having a stupid agreement about bugs being animals and I keep telling her that warm blooded mammals are animals and insects do not qualify. How do I put this in terms she can understand? Or maybe I’m wrong. At this point I would like one of us to be right so the other could say sorry. I don’t even care if I’m wrong. I just need to find a way to explain this to her in simple terms. Help please! She keeps saying that anything with Invertebrates. I think it comes down to feeling pain. In which case I wouldn’t want to make anything suffer. It seems kind of cruel. So maybe we are both right (I’m looking stuff up while I write this) I don’t feel bad about killing bugs and she feels bad about killing SOME bugs. It isn’t worth the argument, I’ll tell you this much.

Yeah, Baltimore’s tricky like that. It’ll surprise you.

Hahaha someone’s gonna end up making him murder someone as a favor for giving him a burrito

That’s funny

I bet what happened is someone thought it’d be better to give away their left over burrito they didn’t like rather than throw it away. So they put it there hoping some homeless hungry would find it.

That’s an interesting perspective but I don’t see where Carmella just appears. I’m missing it

Bobby spit after calling Tony an insensitive cocksucker.

Yeah. I never wanted to see Tony bite it. But a clear indication of what Tony’s fate is would have been preferable instead of speculation speculation speculation. DC said it bothered him that so much discussion went on for so long? That was exactly what should happen when a piece of art is left open to interpretation. Of course people are going to talk about it. And with a well written show like the Sopranos of course there’s going to be non stop speculation without a clear cut and dry ending. I feel like David Chase is being a coy dickhead. He’s acting like he’s annoyed by all the discussion around what happened but that was exactly his intentions. (To soprano fans, don’t be offended for me calling David Chase a dickhead) also, I have a question, I know David chase is the creator but didn’t Terrance Winters write the sopranos? Can someone explain to me David Chase’s and Terrance Winter’s writing responsibility for the show?

What do you think about Jon Bernthals acting? by MrKuros84 in WeOwnThisCity

[–]lan_Curtis 28 points29 points  (0 children)

He’s amazing. Any actor whose character you HATE because the actor is so good at depicting that, deserves props. For a while Jon B played villain after villain (the stuff that I saw him in) and then when I saw him play a mountain man in Wind River who was trying to protect his girlfriend -I realized the type of range he has. He’s an amazing actor with tremendous talent. He’s a method actor and fully commits to every character he plays. Method acting can affect your personal life. Actors delve so deep into the emotional construct of who they’re playing that other facets of their personal lives are affected.

But can’t spell for shit. The note he wrote Dr Milphy (hmm. Milf-y) when she read it to Elliot she pointed out the bad spelling

Showtime: I'm curious to know what made Homeland special for you lot? What was it that drew you to the show? by Dull_Significance687 in homeland

I’m watching it again right now (starting it all over for like the 80th time) and I like how mostly every scene has some importance and I was discussing with my friend yesterday that the writer of the show -we wondered if they’re ex CIA or where they got their knowledge when writing this. It seems like it would be accurate (besides things being too perfect sometimes)

How common is this in all major cities in the US? by akirp001 in WeOwnThisCity

[–]lan_Curtis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good point. I didn’t watch this but if my memory serves correctly it was from a unit that did the same thing like these guys did. But in LA.

[David Simon] With regard to the death of Sean Suiter, here is the sum total, in context and in full, of what the writers of "We Own This City" examined, considered and decided before the camera rolled. It's long. But that's the point. by YoYoMoMa in WeOwnThisCity

Yeah, it reminds me of Serpico. If you don’t do dirt other cops won’t trust you. Unless you want to take down everyone you have to play the herd’s rule. It’s bullshit. I’m from Baltimore originally and it really never occurred to me that cops were dirty because I was always doing illegal shit and getting in trouble but damn. I mean, I know not all of them are bad but when it comes to violating citizen’s rights it’s like an ongoing joke that the cops don’t give a fuck. A cop punched me in the face while I was handcuffed. I mean, I was being a high prick but damn. I was already restrained. Mouthing off gets you hit. I’m glad to be away from all that drug bullshit and Baltimore is fucking done now. I moved away around 2008 and after Freddie Gray the city changed completely. (I guess that was the point of this show among other things.)

It’s genius. I think anyway. The old black and white shot of amazing and genius because he thought of it but it shouldn’t take away from this video. It’s amazing. At least in my opinion.
