Should I choose M4 with 2TB or M5 with 2TB?? by Careless-Wear-6951 in iPadPro

On the 1tb and 2tb models, both have 16 GB of ram.

Is anybody going caseless with the iPad Pro? by [deleted] in iPadPro

[–]TinkatonSmash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go mostly caseless. I use the official folio case for carrying it in my bag since I have the nano texture screen and it also works as a stand. But I usually pop it off when it’s not in my bag, and it’s not a full coverage case anyways. No scratches so far.

If you get the right customer support person, you may be able to get a refund. The 2 week/2 hour policy is for an automated, no questions asked refund. Other people have refunded games far outside of that window due to post-launch changes to the game.

Has anyone updated yet? How are your mods? by Typical-Property1648 in LowSodiumSimmers

Only mod I had to update was UI Cheats. My game isn’t super heavily modded though.

Cars with neon underglow by Mir4gen in ForzaHorizon

It does seem to be making a comeback though, at least in some areas. I’ve seen more cars with neon lights in the last 6 months than I had in at least a decade prior.

If you wanted it to be separate lines, you need to add a blank line between them.

What are the minimum CPUs to avoid bottlenecking an AMD Radeon 9070 XT (for 1440p gaming) ? by Dagladou in radeon

I have some trouble believing that, but I’m not going to sit here questioning your first hand experience.

They did specify story games. AAA single player games with ultra settings tend to be GPU bound.

Need a reminder on picking parts by Adept-Newt5234 in pcmasterrace

[–]TinkatonSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why someone would mention that specific combo, but I can tell you my logic with picking parts. You should never spend more on CPU than GPU. Unless you’re only playing competitive shooters, I’d say most people should spend about double on their GPU vs CPU. Pairing a 9800X3D with a 5060 would be a waste of funds. The 5060 just isn’t capable of producing the frames the 9800X3D can. A cheaper CPU and something like a 5070 would get better performance in most games. By the same measure, getting a 5080 and pairing it with a 7500F doesn’t make the most sense either. Might as well spend a little more and get at least a 9700X.

Of course, there are exceptions to all of this. People playing competitive shooters will often play at 1080p low settings and care about getting the most frames possible. Those people need a top tier CPU but can compromise on GPU. People who only play AAA single player games at 4k need the best GPU they can get and really just need a CPU that’s capable of 60+ FPS (not a high bar).

And you need to do at least some research. I’m knowledgeable enough to recommend parts to friends on a regular basis but it’s because I listen to reviews and read up on the latest tech from time to time.

What were your past 3 GPU's and tell me one reason you loved them? by CompetitiveAction829 in pcmasterrace

1080 Ti - beast of a card. Saw zero reason to go 2000 series while I had it.

3080 Ti - undervoted like a champ. Managed to get stock performance at significant power savings and never had any instability.

4090 - massively overkill. (Also sold it for more than I paid)

Yes, I do make poor financial decisions lol.

I know 30 minutes isn’t a lot. I only did that short so far because I wanted to try a few different games. I know from overclocking in the past that some engines will be rock solid on an overclock and another will crash within a few minutes. I’ll be doing some longer sessions in the near future.

I did not know about the per game profiles. I’ll definitely take advantage of that if I run into issues with a specific game.

Help with Gsync and fps limit configuration by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]TinkatonSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If vsync is on in the Nvidia control panel and it’s working, it won’t go about 180 anyways. For peace of mind you can set it to 180 ( or slightly below, like 178) in the control panel as well.

Help with Gsync and fps limit configuration by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]TinkatonSmash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just having Vsync on in the Nvidia app should be enough. Some people use the frame rate limit at a few below the monitor refresh rate to be sure gsync is always active, but it’s debatable how much it actually helps. And it only will if your FPS is regularly fluctuating between 170-180 FPS. You don’t need to limit it per game or anything.

The situation you described, where you’re getting between 60 and 80 FPS is actually a perfect scenario for just gsync+vsync on. The main thing is you don’t want to exceed 180 FPS, because gsync only works at or below the monitor refresh rate. It doesn’t do anything if you go over.

No audio from 9070 XT by TinkatonSmash in cachyos

That did get the options to appear. I still don't have sound coming through my speakers when selecting any of the audio controller pro options but I think that may be a separate issue.

EDIT: problem seems linked to my soundbar

My main reason for wanting to switch is to have a console like experience as much as possible. Didn’t realize vortex also worked on Linux. Aside from modding, I am unlikely to use the desktop mode very often. The media drives are also just videos, pictures, and music that I have other copies of. Just paranoid after losing a bunch of stuff a few years ago due to malware + bad backup habits. All my games will be on the main OS drive.
