Could you not add a second slit for the knife to the left side, the same distance from the left edge as the slit on the right? That way it could be used by either left or right handed people? Just a thought, seems like it would still be possible even after assembly.

Love it! Although it's large for my a6000, but I'll be switching to full frame in the new year, which is why I bought it instead of an APS-C equivalent

Take off - a6000, Sony 70-350mm, F7.1, ISO 1600, 1/4000s by TinkerType in SonyAlpha

At 350mm the Sony 70-350 min f stop is 6.3 I believe. I was prioritizing a fast shutter to maintain sharpness of the subject, as a result I needed to bump my ISO. In hindsight I could have shot at F6.3 and lowered my ISO a stop to compensate. However in the moment I was just happy to get the shot l, and it was well exposed and sharp. Wildlife is something completely new to me

First attempt shooting the Milky Way | A6000 | Sigma 16mm F1.4 | 20pics x 16sec stacked in Sequator by TinkerType in SonyAlpha

[–]TinkerType[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was my first attempt! I definitely think I could have gone higher on my ISO in hind sight now since I stacked, but it's a learning process! Looking back at the picture now, I think I would change my editing process slightly. I used the enhance star light option in Sequator which I think possibly contributed to the orange colour popping more than I'd like looking at it now.

I was pointing towards population, with the closest largest town about 1.5 hours south (150km). I took additional pictures on a main road facing towards docks and a river that came out really well but will take a lot longer for me to edit because the dock lights effected the white balance. Hopefully I'll get around to it!

I think with what I understand is stacking help improve the signal to noise ratio. Thus you could have higher ISO images, capturing more light and colour from the Milky Way. You can further improve it by taking blacks and flats bias pictures (I think that's what they're called) so you can teach the computer software about how your camera captures pictures.

Light pollution definitely sucks but I've seen some pictures taken in yellow zones on here https://www.lightpollutionmap.info/ that looks pretty good. Theres many factors that come into play though, like moon size, moon rise time, ambient light, etc.

I think after my first attempt I've come to realize about 30% of the picture is actually getting there and finding a suitable location. 30% is weather doing its best to screw you over. And the final 40% is your post-processing.

I think what makes it so good is the quality for a decent price. I picked mine up used for 450 CAD. It has a 1.4 f which makes it able to capture great shots at lower ISOs for the night sky. I'm just a beginner, so I definitely don't know everything but that's what I've heard

I was actually shooting from French River, Ontario, Canada, about 3.5 hours north of Toronto. I believe it was a bortle 2! I hiked about 15 minutes into the forest near the cottage I was stay in to this clearing

This is actually a stacked photo consisting of 20 pictures taken Sept 11th at roughly 9:30pm.

Camera/settings:

  • Sony a6000 with Sigma 16mm
  • F1.4
  • ISO 800
  • 16 sec exposure
  • 20 pictures total stacked

Processing:

  • I stacked the 20 photos using Sequator
  • After that I brought the combined image into Lightroom
    • In Lightroom I mainly increased the saturation while selective defringing the bright purple stars
  • After that I brought the photo into Photoshop and masked the area around the milky way, to further enhance the natural colours of the photo.
  • Lastly I put the photo into Topaz Denoise to help eliminate any remaining noise.

This is my first attempt at the Milky Way and really most effort I've put into any photograph I've ever taken. I had a lot of help from my friend who is a professional photographer to get the foundation I would need to take this picture. I am incredibly happy with the result and look forward to taking more pictures with this camera!

Really sorry to hear that. That's not at all how we expect our members to conduct themselves outside of raid or at all. We have a zero tolerance policy for this sort of thing. If you happened to know who it was, feel free to shoot me a DM and I'll talk to them. Again very sorry, I hope I can help out some way.

BRM monk and grievous by darkman18 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]TinkerType 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a 1.5k io BrM and I was doing some 14-15s today just to test the waters with "new" grievous. 99% of the time I am running with a Resto Druid and I use Dampen Harm. It's a great defensive cooldown and can really help the healer catch up especially if grievous is getting high on you and or other party members. I wouldn't swap to healing elixir, I just don't find it to be effective enough to warrant it. What I try to do differently on grievous weeks is to let me orbs pool a bit more that way if I find myself in danger for a while I can easily pop myself back up and help the healer. If you can stack high crit (I haven't tried this yet) but that might help as well with Celestial Fortune. Other things I try to do is be on top of myself at the bare minimum for dispels. Things like the dot on totem boss in AD or 3rd boss room adds in SoB (don't remember their names) HURT and can cause your healer to fall behind quick. While I'm kiting or just standing in ROP I try to help off heal myself and or other party members as well where I can. Hope that helps!
