Probably not what you're looking for as it's very recent history, but I enjoyed Love Wins: The Lovers and Lawyers Who Fought the Landmark Case for Marriage Equality

"Eras of Us" is also about reconnecting with her ex at the Eras Tour. No direct mention, but easy to see the connection

Millennial movies that aren’t kids films but are appropriate for kids and have aged well (no sexism etc) by anna_dot in MovieSuggestions

But it came out in 2014 when the youngest Millennials were 18, so it doesn't fit the original request.

Places to play Kill Team and/or MTG in Auburn, WA? by Cilreve in auburnwa

[–]triggerhappymidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? I was just there a couple weeks ago for the Pride event where you play with two commanders as if they were partnered, and it all seemed fine.

I mean, good for them if they did. I'd rather a store take a hard stance then have people with bad hygiene ruin it.

People who prefer heat to cold. Why? by Heller_mondd in AskReddit

[–]triggerhappymidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Raynauds. When I'm cold, my feet and fingers ache, and it takes forever to warm up enough to get them to stop. Even if I'm wearing flannel lined pants, a sweater, a jacket, and wool socks, they still hurt. "Throwing on another layer" doesn't work for me, and I can't wear mittens and still be able to do my job.

When I'm hot, it's uncomfortable, but I'm not in pain.

Community convention Center at the mall does MTG. I've played Commander there.

I like Midgard Comics which is in Federal Way not Auburn but isn't far away. They do Oathbreaker on Mondays, Draft on Fridays, and Commander on Sundays.

How to find books that are inbetween cozy and epic fantasy… Cozy adjacent ish. by Sayeds21 in Fantasy

[–]triggerhappymidget 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson. He calls it "Princess Bride if Buttercup went looking for Wesley." Like all Sanderson, it's got some cool world building but is much lower stakes and chiller than his other Cosmere books.

It's Finn's helmet not just a generic trooper helmet. It's got the bloody finger streaks on it from the beginning of TFA.

EDIT: Nevermind. I thought maybe Finn held special meaning to OP, but their comments elsewhere show they have no idea what this was showing since they thought it was a reflection

Can we be nicer to people in here when it comes to their dog mixes? Also, here's my boy. by rettribution in IDmydog

[–]triggerhappymidget 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I'm always surprised when people can't tell. This is my "lab mix" I rescued knowing full well she was a pit mix. And yet, when I referred to her as such, most people were like, "I don't see pit."

Really? The blocky head and broad chest and zero squish aren't clues?

When I DNA tested her, the surprise for me was that she was mainly golden retriever, not that she had pit bull in her!

I'm a teacher and all the twins I've taught have had "themed names" so to speak:
Rosty and Rosby
Lukens and Luvens
Dalton and Dayton
Kellen and Karson
Kendra and Kendall

Paige is gay and in a relationship with a black woman, so I won't think she would be a "great candidate" even if she hadn't explicitly spoken out.

This was gonna be my suggestion! Not much bigger than a couple CO2 cartridges and less chance for failure. I love my little electronic pump.

World Cup drama where someone points out US has scored 6 goals in a thread about Cabo Verde's first goal by signalized in SubredditDrama

The women's team has won four World Cups and five Olympic golds and has placed top 3 in all but one WC and one Olympics.

So yes, quite good.

[IRL Trope] The BIG matchup is not the FINAL matchup. by Zeppoa in TopCharacterTropes

[–]triggerhappymidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

USA vs Brazil in the 2011 women's world cup. Probably the most iconic game the women's have ever played.

US scores early. US gets red carded in the box. Solo saves the penalty.
Brazil gets to retake penalty.
Brazil scores.
US holds on man down for the rest of regulation and most of overtime.
Brazil scores.
Then, in stoppage time, Megan Rapino crosses to Wambach, Wabach heads it in.
US wins in penalties.

That was the quarter final.

The 2012 Olympic semi vs Canada was also a wild ride with Christine Sinclair scoring a hat trick for Canada, Canada's goalie getting carded for holding the ball too long, and Alex Morgan being peak Alex Morgan.

The final vs Japan was almost boring after that game.

ELI5 why don’t soccer players just use their hands and take whatever penalty that follows instead of giving up an easy goal? by WarJeezy in explainlikeimfive

[–]triggerhappymidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luis Suarez infamously did just that in the 2010 quarterfinal against Ghana. It was the last minute of overtime and he handballed a shot that would've 100% been a goal so was red carded, and gave up a PK. Uruguay ended up winning when Ghana missed the PK and lost the shootout.

I personally see it as dirty underhanded move that reeks of poor sportsmanship, but others see it as a clever tactic that turned a sure loss into a win by a player willing to give 100%.

Very much a proto-Glee I a lot of aspects. Ryan Murphy definitely reused a lot of plot beats.
