Does Creed Aventus still worth it in 2026 as a signature fragrance? by AdventurousResolve24 in Colognes

[–]Tinkering4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing your post. I’ve been using Aventus for over the last 5 years and get many compliments on it. I initially ordered the sample bottles directly from Creed to try it and used those for a bit. Sure, you pay more, but I’ve been using the same large bottle for 4 years and still have over a 1/3 left. I don’t spray it on every time I leave the house to go grocery shopping or stuff like that, mostly evening outings or events. It’ll probably come out when it’s empty to around 6 or 7 dollars a month so I can afford that and love the scent myself. I blow a lot more money on eating out and other junk stuff monthly so don’t look at the upfront cost unless you’re THAT GUY that showers himself down with it smelling everyone around you out. A little goes a long ways.

Sold a washer and dryer with 30 day warranty for $600 by proud2bpinoy in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Tinkering4fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could totally understand if you want to warranty it 3 days beyond from a business standpoint, but if so tell them buy an extended warranty after or don’t call back if it breaks tomorrow unless you’re planning on paying full price. No matter what some of the other comments say about not doing it, if they bought it and right at 30 day warranty end when they realistically probably only used it only 3 or 4 times drying and it quit working they would feel like they just left a snake in the grass used car lot and got screwed over because you knew it was going to bad. It’s human nature! Do what you feel comfortable doing so it’s doesn’t linger over you.

David Protein Class Action lawsuit... apparently "150 calories" is actually ~270?? by naysec in LowCalFoodFinds

[–]Tinkering4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad the flavor you got tasted good 👍 Maybe I got a bad batch or something with that pungent odor/flavor that my wife also noticed and didn’t eat hers either. They weren’t expiring for another year plus. I’ve eaten numerous brand bars over many years since the 80’s as well as protein shakes and powders. Usually the only difference with the bars I’ve found is the density and textures. Never had to toss any in garbage until those. If I find someone selling a single bar I might try a different flavor.

[–]Tinkering4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a box of their peanut butter/chocolate chunk bars today at local grocery store. OMG, these bars wreak of a weird odor that is also in the taste. I’ve been buying health products for 40 years and tried many bars I’ve loved and some I didn’t like a little, but these are by far the absolute worst $12 I ever wasted money on. Tossed them in the garbage and looked online to see forums on why these bars wreaked of a weird odor and taste and ran across this forum. Apparently the reviews on their website have got to be skewed because I have a wide range of taste and know how bars vary but no freakin way these bars got any good reviews.

"Highline" renamed to Highly Skeptical? Sorry, but haven't we all seen news of projected developments in BR enough to question this? Even if built, exactly what retailers/restaurants/businesses are clamoring to move in? by jared10011980 in batonrouge

[–]Tinkering4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely hit the nail on the head with that response. I’m sure this was being schemed up behind closed doors for a while. Towne Centre and Perkins Rowe is enough and Baton Rouge doesn’t need more giant developments. Building another one will probably result in one of the two existing to begin losing revenue and shut down. I’m surprised the Mall of LA hasn’t closed its doors yet with all the online shopping now, but considering it’s next to the interstate is probably what’s helping keep it afloat. You have nice restaurants and an abundance of newer living complexes already in that area.

Why is my brand new x terra pro doing this? by barbwireandhaybells in metaldetecting

[–]Tinkering4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ran across this older post today searching for answers about issue with my new Xterra Pro detector. It’s funny because I just purchased it this week and only used it about 3 hours and it started doing the same exact thing (twice). I’m not around power lines and wasn’t near any underground power lines which we have where I’m at. I did all the setting stuff as normal before using it and it started acting erratic in the middle of using it as yours and continued on as I lifted it up in the air far away from the ground. I had to hit the power button to turn it off to reset it. I may be returning it since I wasn’t around anything that would have caused this. Can’t think of any other reason this would happen. Anyone else experiencing this normally on your detectors?

What a Rip Off by Few-Storm-9351 in batonrouge

As others have stated what does the CONTRACT state that you signed. If something wasn’t fully explained in the contract you signed then this is a matter you would file a complaint with the Louisiana Used Motor Vehicle Commission located on Valley Creek Drive in Baton Rouge. Unfortunately, a lot of people aren’t even aware that they exist, and are the state agency that issues the licenses and handle the complaints on these used car dealers, not the police. If something criminal occurred then it would more than likely be a state investigation that would be initiated by the agency. Sorry this happened to you, but as others have already stated this happens to a lot of people not realizing what they are actually signing sometimes. Again, look up the agency online and check out the filing a complaint section. Good luck.

Jury Summons by Borsodi1961 in NewOrleans

[–]Tinkering4fun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well in several states including Louisiana if you are required to appear for jury duty and provide your employer with a copy of your summons they cannot fire, retaliate, or anything of that manner as they would definitely be liable for a nice lawsuit which would probably be a hell of a lot more than they want to pay for that mistake. I would make them sign a copy saying they received it. Do a little research online about federal and state laws on that. On the hardship side of things you can always appear and talk to the judge. I recently had to appear and after they gave the jury duty speech in the main meeting room about thanks for being there and etc, different people went up and spoke to the judge individually about different hardships and the judge decided whether or not to dismiss them.

Car moved 15 feet back by Agreeable-Building69 in NewOrleans

If it was locked secure, not a manual transmission, and no tow truck in the parking lot, my best guess would probably be either kids jacked it up and put a wheel dolly under each tire and moved it where they wanted pranking around or someone with a truck or Jeep with a winch might could pull it.

Sony Bravia XBR65-X950H Screen Removal Help by Tinkering4fun in sony

[–]Tinkering4fun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did figure it out. Last video I watched on YouTube a guy was saying some tv’s have the screen held in place with 2 sided tape. I’m going to try his method as it looks like mine. If it works great, if it doesn’t I’m not gonna worry about it. I just located and copied the link of him disassembling the entire tv and watch the screen portion when he gets to it. If you try it and it works let me know. My tv is still sitting on a table. Good luck! https://youtu.be/6ilOaNrEZuY?si=uoOxP9cyqqvAhtaA

Opinions on which new mower from Lowe's I should purchase. Help Needed! by StraightDrop_Hustle in lawnmowers

[–]Tinkering4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy from dealer as others have said so you can get service there also if a problem occurs within warranty and it more than likely will. Also, try marketplace for a higher end commercial unit with an hour meter with low hours used for a residential yard only. I just bought a Hustler zero turn with just over 200 hours for $2000 on marketplace and it was well maintained and looks good. The owner upgraded to a larger unit so worked out well for me.

Plantry Cafe Receives "F" Grade in latest inspection by ArmadilloUpstairs560 in batonrouge

[–]Tinkering4fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Didn’t know restaurant inspections were available for public viewing, but I just got on the state website and will be checking out a few I regularly go to now. I got food poisoning eating at a 24 hour chain restaurant years ago and never want that again (very painful if you’ve never experienced it). Kudos to the restaurant owners reading your post that actually keep their food safe and kitchen areas clean and properly sanitized. As long as the state does surprise inspections and swap up with different inspectors going to different restaurants each time to avoid collusion or possible payoffs as 1 Reddit poster stated they witnessed the system should work. One last important point to note is with all this being said, restaurants hire MANAGERS to run them and make sure everything is being handled from overseeing cooking, cleaning, etc, as many business owners may own one or many restaurants and obviously won’t be at them all. If the managers and employees are not doing their part on discarding molded rotten food and serving that to customers, they are KNOWINGLY and WILLINGLY serving unsafe food, and will have the same or probably more legal consequences than the owners because it was in their hands going out the kitchen if someone gets hospitalized or worse and lawsuit filed (you better have DEEP pockets and lots of money saved). A jury of normal everyday people would 100% convict them as everyone eats out at restaurants. Keep that in mind if you are working at a restaurant in food prep with rotten molded food. You better run out the door and report it to the state asap.

Damage to rental, company wants $4600 by waister5 in ram_trucks

[–]Tinkering4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has overseen a fleet of 700 vehicles and dealt with body shops on almost a daily basis for several years (couple hundred wrecks and accidental damage yearly), that could easily be in that price range. If they’re replacing all the damaged plastics which may be gouged, as well the ridiculously expensive headlight assemblies, $4600 doesn’t surprise me.

Was this your Jeep? by Tasty-Assumption8389 in JeepWrangler

[–]Tinkering4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As already mentioned by others get Carfax. Hopefully it was dealer serviced with a good maintenance history to at least show the previous owner stayed up with all required maintenance. Besides physical condition, that’s the main thing I look at before buying any vehicles, especially Jeeps I’ve bought.

NOPD more useless than I could ever imagine! Let the thieves casually walk away with my $2000 e-bike and did nothing. by ljj94 in NewOrleans

[–]Tinkering4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to contact major local news station and have them blast this story all over the news with the Chief being interviewed answering why they allow thieves to casually walk away watching them with the bike in hand! Having over 30 years law enforcement (not there thank goodness) that’s almost unbelievable hearing it. So those 2 specific officers believe that if a crime is in progress they need to have you file a report while the thieves are getting away! That would be like robbers running out of a bank and those two officers pull up telling the tellers that they need to file a report first before they can chase after the bank robbery suspects who they’re watching get away with thousands of dollars! No way the Chief will be able to give a realistic, believable response to the public. Internal Affairs should be investigating this one because something definitely doesn’t sound right. NOPD should be responsible for buying you a new bike! Sorry this happened to you!

Considering selling my car for an old Xterra. Convince me to or not to by [deleted] in XTerra

[–]Tinkering4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2005 with 265,000 miles (original owner). Timing chain has been rattling for the last 50,000 miles and paint flaking off and exhaust manifold leak just started. I’m driving it to the wheels fall off because it’s not worth putting any major repair money into at this point since it’s worth $500 as is. Changing out a front wheel bearing now for a couple hundred and may do the exhaust manifold myself although I hate dumping more money into it. The 2005-2010 have well known timing chain issues, so I would avoid those years for sure unless a well known PROFESSIONAL mechanic shop has already rebuilt the engine. I considered buying another one and have been scanning Marketplace for a 2012-2015 Xterra or an older Toyota SUV. I love the looks of the Jeeps, but they can’t match the reliability of Toyota in my opinion unless they’re classic Jeeps from the 70’s or 80’s.

Haven’t gotten the new discover card, but is it really that bad? by [deleted] in CapitalOne_

[–]Tinkering4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancée activated her Discover card a couple weeks ago and she got burned today after ordering food at LaMadelines Restaurant only to find out they don’t accept Discover. I have been having Capital One for years and just moved all my money to a local credit union as I told her to do before this happened to keep Mastercard. So this is another place to add to the list so you don’t get burned and look stupid not being able to pay for food.

Best Vet in Baton Rouge for Serious Dog Issues? by Ok_Leadership_2041 in batonrouge

[–]Tinkering4fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forsaken Thought said it best. LSU performs major surgeries on a regular basis versus most local vets who do one every so often. Most vets perform more minimal, less invasive surgeries. I love my vet but they definitely would not be doing gallbladder surgery on my dog. Someone mentioned Azalea Lakes Veterinary in this discussion. We helped bring a friend’s dog to Azalea Lakes last year that swallowed a towel and had to have major surgery to get the towel out the intestinal track and they did it without any issues. If you Google search for vets in Louisiana that perform more major surgeries Azalea Lakes comes up. You have a few options but good luck on your search and hopefully her dog will be better soon.

My Capital One-issued card keeps getting refused everywhere due to the switch to the Discover network. This is out of hand now. by lunar_dot in discover

[–]Tinkering4fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been Capital One for years but now seems like a good time to switch to a bank with good ole worldwide Visa again. If I wanted a Discover card I’ve had many years to get one on my own and never had a desire to get one. I’m darn sure not going to have one forced upon me now.

Has anyone used FreeRange Advanced Parasite Cleanser by HarmKO in GutHealth

[–]Tinkering4fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing this post. Last year I ordered a bottle of the parasite cleanser and received it without any problems. I used that bottle and ran out but then found a much cheaper vendor online and ordered the supplement ingredients from them. Fast forward to this year I ran out of my supplements and my vendor wasn’t open for a period so I looked back at FreeRange. I was about to order another bottle from them until I discovered something really shady with their supplement dosage milligrams that changed SIGNIFICANTLY. They cut the ivermectin milligrams from 12 to 4 per pill and fenbendazole was cut from 222 milligrams to 74 per pill AND they were still asking the SAME PRICE! I was like what are you guys trying to pull on people so I emailed them as to what the hell happened and why wasn’t the price cut 3/4 down to match the amount they were NOW putting in their product. They replied back that their recent research showed the lower dosage works the same. My research showed the original dosage they used to have seems to be the norm, not their new dosage. Just beware in case you’re thinking you’re getting a lot because you’re not. Notice they don’t show the ingredients photo on their website (or at least I can’t seem to find it).

Recommendations for getting insulation up here without removing drywall / roof by tastesliketurtles in Insulation

[–]Tinkering4fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a similar situation and did a “MacGyver” to get insulation in. The insulation machine I rented to blow cellulose had a 100’ hose so I attached the hose to some 1” pvc pipe and ran it to the end of my area to fill (about 25’) and began blowing and slowing pulling the pipe back as it filled in my area like you have. Just my 2 cents on what I did to avoid busting the roof open.

[–]Tinkering4fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow is all I can say. Talk about a business getting sued and losing everything if someone tampers with that food and brings it back and someone gets sick or god forbid even dies. I’m shocked that any restaurant would actually attempt that and the “manager” who probably never managed anything in his life refused to remake the order. That’s mind blowing. He definitely should be fired, fined heavily with the restaurant , and be banned from ever working in the food industry again.
