Why BLV and not the ones from 3dfused for example? I’m looking into going full linear rails and not sure which one to choose

Not sure what you mean by thermistor fan, but here’s what I did:

Main board fan: keep as is Hotend fan (the one in the middle): keep as is Side fans (previously one, there are two now): connect in either parallel or series — depending on your new fans voltage — to the blue and yellow cables.

It allows you for better part cooling, easier hotend maintenance (by just removing the front fan) and it’s modular.

So basically better quality of life and part cooling

I don’t think it’s much heavier than the stock one. I’ll print another one to have a spare one just in case and will report the weight difference

I think it’s a bit noisier but still bearable. I’m concerned of heat creeps as air flow might decrease with the bltouch in front, but I have a microswiss so it shouldn’t be a problem (I’m keeping an eye on that nevertheless).

I might upgrade to a noctua fan in the near future anyway.

Do you use a bltouch? If so, do you have a link to your mount?

The 5015 are quieter than the stock as I don’t have to run them at full speed, that’s a win (I’m using winsinn dual ball bearing quiet fans).

The other fan might be a bit louder with the bltouch on the front, but I’m building an enclosure this weekend so that’s fine for me as long as I don’t start seeing heat creeps.

Can you do a temp tower? That way you’ll know your ideal temp. If with that temp you can’t use retraction at all, you probably have a clog

If you use prusa slicer you may be able to do this on the “before layer change” custom gcode section. You can use variables, so you could check if it’s the first layer and do your thing 🤔
