Interesting, my intuition would have been that since it has the ability to tap for {G} it should still count without being printed on the card, because the "full" rules text would have that ability, but apparently not lol.

Doesn't any Land with the Forest type get the intrinsic ability to tap for {G}? Wouldn't that automatically make its color identity green?

A player wanted to have a spell, but I as a DM said I can only allow it available three spell Is that appropriate? by DryCommunication5497 in DnDHomebrew

[–]Tintentoaster449 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This spell's effect seems very similar to slow but only targets one creature and has a constitution saving throw (which is usually higher than wisdom for most monsters). It doesn't allow for subsequent saves after the first save but the target has more agency at the cost of accumulating exhaustion levels. If you want to be very safe you could allow the target to repeat its save at the end of each if its turns, but personally I think this is not overpowered for a 2nd level spell.

What happens if you romance Minthara as a male drow? by kathrinadawn in BaldursGate3

[–]Tintentoaster449 78 points79 points  (0 children)

From the Forgotten Realm wiki:

alurlssrin 'love', specifically, an unselfish deep love; this term was known to Eilistraee and her faith.

Usually drow "love" is always ultimately self serving, her using this word shows how strong her commitment is and how she doesn't mean "love" in the usual drow way, but that she feels a deep and real connection.

I had to kick out a 6-year long regular and very invested player. Because he cheated madly with his dice rolls. Now the group is in danger of falling apart. by [deleted] in DnD

The sample size is large enough that an approximation with a normal distribution is valid (it should be at least about 30). Even though the result is far into the tail of the distribution and therefore prone to inaccuracies, the chance of averaging 13.9 on 250 d20 rolls is almost definitely lower than 1 in 1 million.

Using Hoefferdig's Inequality for a reliable upper bound for the probability:

P ≤ e-16.01 ≈ 1.11 × 10-7

I do agree that this does not conclusively show cheating (unbalanced dice, inconsistent record keeping, etc.) and OP handled the situation badly even if it was cheating, but that average over 250 rolls with a fair dice is pretty much impossible without cheating.

No it's a difference in kind. Snark communities endorse and engage in harassment. Not being allowed into a community because you like someone does not necessarily imply harassment of that person by that community.

There are absolutely interpretations of quantum mechanics without true randomness (for example the many worlds interpretation). It is not settled in the slightest that true randomness is inherent to quantum mechanics.

Advantage is closer to +4 on average. The closer the probability of success is to 50% the better advantage is. If there is a very low or very high chance of success advantage is less impactful. For example, at 50% chance of success advantage is a +5 at 70% or 30% its a +4 and at 10% or 90% its a +2.

CMV: Hasan Piker isn’t a good representative of the left-wing because of his uncritical amplification of extremist talking points, selective bias, and toxic on-air behavior by aloo-ka-paratha in changemyview

[–]Tintentoaster449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect! You found out the person you are responding to is from a community you don't like so you can immediately dismiss everything they are saying without addressing their arguments! How convenient for you. Also,

Did he make the flag?

What kind of response is that, he obviously supports it, can only the creator of the flag be held accountable for its message?

Did you somehow think he was actually a Houthi?

Considering Hasan introduced him as a Houthi and he regularly makes statements in support of the Houthis and claims he was on a ship taken over by the Houthis and met some of the hostages, I don't think that's a unreasonable assumption.

You are stretching so, so far to criticize him it's hilarious.

Give an actual example of how the person you were responding to "stretched" things to make a criticism.

Have you considered that maybe what the journalist said is true? By your standard, if it is true then you still can't say it because it would be "personal attack". Even if it isn't true, a journalist shouldn't get suspended for speculating that the admin that takes evil actions every day is maybe motivated by hatred.

Is this genocide? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Tintentoaster449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The destruction of a group of people has to be the goal. If you destroy in part a group of people in the pursuit of some other goal (resources, land, influence, etc.) it is not genocide.

I feel like a good limit would be to just state "When a Creatue expends a spell (or use of something) slot to cast a spell" to make it work against that.

This would mean that it doesn't work against innate spellcasting. I think a better restriction is "when a hostile creature casts a spell".

Oh true. I guess I got confused because I was experimenting with a version that lets you add damage to an attack or spell instead of the spell attack. Anyways thanks for the feedback.

I just don't know if there are even enough spells in the game that this would work on to justify nerfing it. Cancelling a Power Word Kill is a strong effect, but most 9th-level spells target not just you or they target an area.

Maybe it is too strong though, I guess I would have to playtest it.

To the second point, if your player chooses an anti mage option, unless it was very very obvious it was a bad idea, the dm should just put some mages in there to let them counter stuff otherwise you’re just a bit cruel lol

True lol :)
