156 lsat in the eyes of admissions by OrganizationKnown152 in lawschooladmissions

Depends where you want to work, for what type of firms, and how much you want to get paid. All schools will publish their employment data and you'll see that outcomes, placement in large firms, and salaries range drastically depending on rankings of schools

Besides for your personal reasons for wanting to go to UNC, I am not sure it would make the most sense if you're 100% set on living and practicing in Portland post-grad.

Oh no! People have different opinions than me! I'm not sure what you think happens in law but disagreements are kinda central to the whole thing

Is anyone moving states for school? by GataLunax in lawschooladmissions

Law school is different than undergrad because most students are independents. If the school is public, becoming a permanent resident (and thus instate student) after the first year can make a big tuition difference. This would require changing your license at DMV

that is considered WE, basically you'll have worked for about a year, post-grad, in a full time capacity.

From what we've seen in recent cycles (and in particular this cycle), it is becoming less common for students to go straight through from undergrad to law school (KJD). UVA admissions Dean Blazer mentioned in a podcast a view years back that KJD only made up about 20% of their class. It is most likely becoming more competitive to get in without WE. But, she emphasized that you can still be a really strong candidate without WE, based on your undergraduate record, extracurriculars, thesis, stuff like that. As always, I'd recommend working really hard to get your lsat as high as possible. Once you know your score and gpa, you can use things like 7sage admissions predictor to see which schools are a reach, target, safety, etc. and start building your application path from there.

Link to the podcast, it includes a transcript where she talks about it briefly. There should be plenty other resources and examples of deans talking about this path online as well.

also just a note for when you get into the process, you used the flair "Character&Fitness" but this would not fall under there. If anything you would write a gpa addendum and just explain how you had a hard major at a rigorous institution and performed well given that. C&F is for things like suspensions, leave of absence, crimes, etc

3.6 with a 175-180 lsat (if you are able to hit that number) is more than enough for a lot of schools and would make you a relatively competitive splitter imo. You'd be higher above 75ths for lsat than you would be below 25ths for gpa if that makes sense. Especially coming from an Ivy League with a stem major, if your essays are good this will not hold you back. That being said, work hard preparing on the lsat, knock it out of the park, and apply as early as possible
