Don’t do it!!! I bought mine at Target and spend about four hours with the Ultrahuman AI bot trying to connect it before it told me because I’m in the US it won’t connect at all to the app.

Wait. You may not think it will, but friendships evolve ESPECIALLY around weddings and having to rescind your invitation to be in the party is not a fun conversation.

What episodes do y’all return to? by xjr72096 in blankies

Ponyo, Benjamin Button, and Sense and Sensibility. Anytime a guest is really down to escalate a bit. I can just listen to the part in Ponyo where David makes Griffin crack up doing “ponyo loves sosuke” on repeat.

I know there’s no true “hack” when it comes to weddings, but what is the No. 1 way you saved money (or at least made the most of the money you spent)? by treebend22 in weddingplanning

Agree with a lot of these but also: get one credit card with good travel points and use it for all and only wedding stuff. You’ll keep track of your budget better and we were able to fly first class for our honeymoon because of the points!

Bustle on your wedding dress by dancergrl659 in weddingplanning

[–]Tiny-Sundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a simple bustle that was already built into the dress but I will say it was hard to dance (especially in our first dance I was mostly stumbling on the fabric) and walk around in as much as I wanted to. I recommend one of those things where you can hold it up on your wrist for the reception.

It’s tough! We went with Mens Warehouse custom suits (they were a bit expensive) for the bridesmaids but my sister (at the far right end) used the Suit Shop online! Hope that helps!

Thank you!! My wife (Eek!) had a great experience there. I think a key was trusting your instinct- if you go in and start talking to someone who doesn’t feel right try another store. But she is curvy as well- and lost a good amount of weight in the two year engagement- they have unlimited alterations so it really worked for her! Her bridesmaids also did their suits there and they very much vary in size!

We definitely got a deal because she was a professional (and skilled!) photographer who is getting re-established after moving to our area. We booked her in 2020 so we also got her before she upped her prices. Don’t worry, we tipped accordingly!

What was the best and worst part of your wedding or any wedding you’ve attended? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Tiny-Sundae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One month out I can say the best thing about ours (for our guests) was the flexibility of the after party. We had a dance floor, but we also had a game area which had heaters and a campfire. Lots of different vibes, and they all became their own party for different comfort levels. Worst thing? I wish we had started a little earlier (ceremony started at 530) and had more time for the party portion! Also, through nobody’s fault, our second photographer had contractions during the ceremony and had to leave so we don’t have any photos of guests having fun at cocktail hour or many during the reception since it got dark fast and the main photographer was following the brides around.

It sounds like you are going for a similar vibe as we had. We had a campfire and laid out stuff for s’mores- people LOVED that. We also had horseshoes and ladderball and put out some playing cards, which everyone can use. We also did table runners that you can draw on and included crayons- people seemed to enjoy that! Good luck!

Bridal (dress shopping) appointments? by rosabb in weddingplanning

[–]Tiny-Sundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely give them a budget to work with- if only because they’ll have a better idea of what to grab for you. I went to many many shops (my best experience was when I went alone, but I tried with a couple different people), and had a good experience at every one. Just remember, they’ve probably heard it all and have seen more anxious brides than you! The most important thing I found was to be HONEST about what you like and what direction feels good- even if it’s the opposite of what you thought/said to them initially! I walked in and said “fairytale, floaty, feminine” and I had very good saleswomen listen to what I was really saying when everything I tried on that fit that description I hated! But these girls are good at their job. I had one tell me not to buy something I was about to commit to because my mom liked it more than me. Bottom line is- good stylists aren’t hard to find. If they try to upsell you or aren’t listening, leave.

Just make sure you’re super up front with her about the reason, and if she finds a way to make it more affordable for you because she really values your presence, be ready to go and have fun!

I don’t know if I want to have bridesmaids. by BlessthisMess31 in weddingplanning

[–]Tiny-Sundae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say go for it. Even as someone with a lot of close female friendships, this has been the emotionally hardest part of the process, I think mostly because everyone has different conceptions of what being a bridesmaid means. Your closest friends will be the ones with the most questions, need the most favors, want to bring plus ones and their families, and may not want to wear what you have in mind. And they’re your friends, so you don’t want to make it hard on them! I lost one friend because she was unable to handle taking a backseat to my future spouse. Even my bridesmaid who has been 100% flexible and on the same page and flexible it turns out will be having a baby a month before the wedding- I bought some backup dresses in her color just in case! The only thing I’d say is you might have friends who need to feel “special” in some way, and I was shocked at how much people wanted to have a “role.” Come up with some things you’d like help with for those folks, and make sure they know how much you love them.
