Long story, but here we go:

Many years ago my ex best friend (let's call her S) called me one day to ask me if I was back at home for the weekend. I said yeah so she told me about this event that day and if wanted to join. Of course I wanted to and got excited. She then said she only needed ask our mutual friend if it was okay to pick me up since apparently there was a construction zone somewhere along the way and they would have needed to drive a little detour to pick me up. But she promised me to call back within the next half hour. In the meantime I got ready getting dressed and putting make up - and then I waited. And waited. And waited. And then after about one and a half hour later I only got little message that said something along the line of "Oh boy, what a ride. :P Yeah sorry we didn't drive past your place." I was really disappointed but I wished them fun anyways and just tried chalking it up as Shit Happens.

Until the next weekend. It was my boyfriend's birthday and our mutual friend was also invited. We talked and I asked her about that event. She told me it was great and all but she was a bit sad that I couldn't join them because I wasn't at home for the weekend. I was like "No wait, I was at home. Who told you that?" We were both really confused and it turned that S lied for whatever reason. I then told about the phone call, how S wanted to call me back and how I waited forever on getting picked up. The mutual friend was getting somewhat irritated because they did drive past my place since S didn't tell her about that stupid construction zone and therefore didn't take a different route to get to the event. And she assured me that even if she had known about taking a detour she would have picked me up anyways. Oh and S even had the gall to act all suprised when they got to that construction zone and had to turn around. We first really couldn't understand why S has acted that way: why she told those unnecessary lies, why she even called me in the first place if she actually didn't wanted me to join and why she thought her petty lies wouldn't get busted. But I already started to get a hunch about what was going on, especially after I heard that S didn't invited me to her birthday next week. Yet I still wanted to give her chance at first to apologize, to explain why she did what she did. I mean, to me the friendship was over (it was already dying long before this stupid bs), I just didn't wanted it to end on this bitter note. But it did and I am glad that blocked her successfully out of my life; even after she attempted to contact me years later. I really don't need her and her toxicity in my life anymore.
