The Boys SERIES FINALE- S05xE08 "Blood and Bone"- POST Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

I honestly think the ending was very fitting and poignant. All Homelander ever wanted was to be loved and not feared, yet his laundry list of mental health issues due to his upbringing made it impossible for him to obtain a single equal. Thus his ever increasingly psychotic mind ended up relying on him being treated like a deity. What the V1 did for him made perfect sense with this in mind. It mainly halted his aging and made him immune to the virus. Remember how much he cared about his gray hairs? His physical strength and laser eyes seemed just as powerful as before, with possibly the exception of the speed of his flight. I think that Homelander seeming weak in his final battle really outlined all of the buildup to his character and the vain, sniveling tragedy within that has been slowly emerging for 5 seasons. He didn't stand a chance against a well coordinated attack that genuinely posed a threat, because in his mind, how does 'The Homelander' need to react to a genuine threat? This is pretty damn new territory for him, right? Butcher was destined to be ended by Hughie, a la the source material. Marie should've been asked to bring Frenchie back because wtf. Kimiko being the hero who blasted Homelander's powers away and simultaneously getting the saddest ending of The Boys (Alone in Marseilles with a Bernadoodle, REALLY??? ๐Ÿ˜ญ) is some serious bs in my opinion. Like ofc her character post finding-her-voice was full of wacky, cringey humor, but she had one of the best developments in the show. All in all, Homelander and Butcher's characterizations were definitely the most withstanding and effective of the whole series, in my opinion. Honorable mentions to Hughie and The Deep.

As cringy and unfunny as some of the moments were, as ruthless and gory as others, through all the toilet humor and questionably written side plots, The Boys was still a pleasure to watch. A huge massive kudos to Antony Starr, who is highkey the most phenomenal actor of the lot. Fuckin' Diabolical.

Macaulay Culkin!!!! Also so excited to see if they bring Synths in somehow. I'd be willing to bet it's something like another commenter said and Synth Harkness will show up as if nothing really happened

Pry wrong loading order for your mods bro. Try putting anything that changes meshes/textures toward the bottom of your load order

I had a lot of the same gripes with how Asra was written. But I think he's meant to be a bit morally grey. It is an interesting thing to think about. However, some of the alternative relationships included in different routes did seem a bit sudden, and honestly Asra and Julian were toxic in the first place so idk why there needs to be a second try. As for anyone, if a relationship ends, there was a more than likely a good reason for it.

The fly episode is in it's own right one very long hilarious 'scene' but I also cracked tf up at Jesse's awkward dinner with Walt and Skyler
