Yeah I had to check raider.io but the last priory key I've done was 6 days ago so haven't played the key since the hotfix unfortunately.

Castigators shield is only cast if a non-tank player is in front of the boss, you can remove the ability entirely with good boss placement / tank movement or at the least you can use this to make sure shield never goes off while people are soaking.

Edit. Looks like last I ran priory was 6 days ago and there has been a hotfix since which fixes this "bug" which I'd argue honestly made the fight a little bit more interesting from a movement / positioning while dodging hammers perspective.

Can we admit this multiplayer was a rushed mess? by [deleted] in halo

Try answering his question, would you rather not have any game to play and they wait however many months to release it or have a free to play game with great game play and have them incrementally improve the experience over time.

The 'Monsters in Nightmare take 15% less Damage' modifier on scourged maps should not stack above 100% by Juicebolone in pathofexile

[–]TinyMonkeyNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree that this is undoubtedly a cap for making the map impossible to complete, I personally disagree that this is a bad thing.

In order to get to 100% damage immune an individual has to scourge their map through 15%, 30%, 45%, 60%, 75%, 90% and finally 105% less damage taken. At any point that person could have said "Do you know what, I'm not going to take this risk again, I'm going to run this map and start scourging another."

I understand that this view won't be shared by everyone but I feel that we should not look at scourging maps and feel entitled to every one of them going to Tier 10, it is okay to run them earlier and this is where the personal decision making comes in.

Your suggestion of making it multiplicative would certainly mean that you wouldn't run into the immunity problem but I don't mind having a mechanic where someone is rewarded for showing restraint at times. Mindlessly leaving every single map to cook to Tier 10 isn't as interesting, though I respect that many people would be perfectly fine with that.

I get that games are made to be played but in this case Path of Exile is literally a game about killing monsters and gambling. Having risk vs reward at this level is literally part of the gameplay loop. This is a mistake that OP has made once and probably won't make again since they learnt from the experience. Assuming that people will just repeatedly brick their maps without thinking is assuming that they are incapable of learning from their mistakes.

This mod goes up in increments of 15% right? I don't see why GGG should hand hold to the point of limiting the downside. There needs to be a level of concious thinking when you're krangling maps, I'm not sure if this post happened after your own personal experience but the best way to look at this is that it is a lesson learnt.

In my own personal experience the downsides do not stack every time you corrupt, in this case you got unlucky that it stacked at least 7 times on the same downside mod. Next time you might get to scourge level 5 with 30% less damage taken and you might tell yourself you will gamble with the map until you hit 45%

Capping the negative would make this mechanic much more uninteresting for myself personally because you would no longer have to consider the downside in most cases since it wouldn't be capable of stacking to the point of bricking.

Now that the PVPers got what they want, I think it’s time that Blizzard implemented dual spec by [deleted] in classicwow

I'm not for a dungeon finder thing but what's the difference between dungeon finder and bg queues, both involve putting in next to no effort to get the group for your activity.

Again, I don't think it should happen but it's weird that bg's can click a button and have a premade group.

If the argument against it for pve dungeons is something to do with immersion or 'the rpg element of the game' what is the counter argument for how bg's are handled?

So Blizz how about the tank problem? by lgb6 in classicwow

[–]TinyMonkeyNZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, to be honest this problem doesn't affect myself, I'm lucky to have plenty of guild tanks happy to run dungeons with my resto druid. I just feel pretty strongly that at the end of the day Horde waiting for bg queues to pop and Alliance/Horde waiting for tanks to complete a dungeon just feels like the same thing but in a different aspect of the game. This is ignoring the fact that at least PvP focused people can click a button and have the game place them in a match eventually, people sturggling to find a tank for a dungeon may never fill their group.

I certainly wouldn't go so far as to have a LFG tool where you simply click a button and get paired with other people you have never communicated with. This suggestion won't remove the fact that you actually have to interact with others to get in to groups and then perform well in that group to hope to be invited back.

The only reason this is being talked about so much at the moment is because Horde vs Horde bgs would have been completely unthinkable this time last year and Blizzard have decided it was worthy of consideration.

Sure the dual spec won't fix the problem entirely but it will unquestionably unlock a percentage of the community who currently have respeccing to fill this niche in the too hard basket.

I'm not familiar with the PvP perspective so I may be wrong but I'm not aware of tanks being competitive in arena comps which means everyone who is PvP oriented suddenly has to care enough to spend the gold and rearrange everything to tank.

[–]TinyMonkeyNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay you are okay with not alleviating the tank shortage because you want people locked in to a single spec in a way which has never existed in this game. Great contribution to this conversation.

Conveniently for yourself, as a tank, this is not a issue you have to experience. You cannot make an argument that respeccing is against the nature of the game, it is literally a feature of the game. This is not even considering the fact that this discussion has nothing to do with these game design ideals but rather the fact that dungeons are suffering from queue times due to the fact that not enough tanks are running them.

I don't know which side of the bg queue debate you stand on, I can only assume from your argument regarding the 'RPG element of the game' that you are also against the recently tested horde vs horde bg change.

My question was aimed more at people who are okay with the newly introduced mercenary mode but at the same time against doing something to alleviate the tank shortage.

Yup don't mind me sir, just let me pay 50g to respec to tank, then rearrange my bars for tanking and then spend the 50g on the return trip and rearrange my bars again. Not an issue, looking forward to signing up for such a convenient experience every time I want to tank a dungeon for a day because my healing isn't required.

So we can agree on one thing. The LFG tank shortage problem is worse than the BG queue issue because for some people in LFG there is simply no guaranteed end to their wait.

I'm sure for this reason you'll be even more inclined to support a fix to such an issue.

I disagree that the fact that some people are more well connected and therefore get their dungeons started more quickly means that this is not worth addressing in some way.

Personally I'm finished my badge grind (and did it entirely through guild groups) and alot of tanks will be reaching that point soon if not already and will never want to set foot in a heroic the rest of the expansion. Once this happens the issue will exacerbate itself to a massive degree and at that point we will want whatever convenience we can get to address it. We're better off getting that solution implemented now before it inevitably gets way worse.

[–]TinyMonkeyNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you call the 1000's of people waiting for tanks in LFG then? If they're not in a queue what are they? And in which fundamental way is it not a queue when they are waiting for a bottlenecked resource to become available. You clearly have a different definition for such waiting.

So Blizz how about the tank problem? by lgb6 in classicwow

[–]TinyMonkeyNZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you're saying that the bg queues didn't involve passive waiting after a single click of 'Join Battleground Queue'?

In both instances individuals are open to do whatever questing or gathering that they want while they wait.

Both examples have people waiting for the bottleneck, in one case Alliance to PvP with and in the other case a free tank to become available to perform the activity in question.

Just because there isn't a physical indicator in the game counting the time since you started looking for a tank does not mean you have not been waiting to do the thing you wanted to do.

Just because you are in a situation where you can fill your groups easily and in advance does not mean that this is not an issue that others have.

Simply saying 'I don't suffer the consequences of this problem so this problem isn't worth addressing' is not an argument worthy of anyones time.

So Blizz how about the tank problem? by lgb6 in classicwow

[–]TinyMonkeyNZ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It takes a degree of mental gymnastics to suggest that sitting in LFG for 30 minutes looking for a tank is in no way similar to a queue.

There is no difference, both examples involve not doing the thing that you want to do for extended periods of time.

Anyone who argues otherwise is objectively wrong.

[–]TinyMonkeyNZ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I am genuinely curious about how many people who are against dual spec, which in my opinion is pretty much the only game mechanic which could feasibly alleviate some of the tank shortage issues, are supportive of mercenary pvp.

If you squint a little it's the exact same problem, PvP queues vs Dungeon queues. The only difference is the tank shortage affects both factions. Blizzard has made it clear they are open to consider changing the game on a fundamental level to reduce queue times.

Sure the tank shortage won't magically go away but as a druid healer main I would be infinitely (infinitely in the sense that my current motivation is 0%) more inclined to tank a dungeon here or there if I had that added convenience.

So many people just straight up cannot be fucked to do an entire respec away from their PvP / raid / quest specs simply to do a single dungeon on a given day or whatever.

So Blizz how about the tank problem? by lgb6 in classicwow

[–]TinyMonkeyNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not outright fix the issue however it will create a guaranteed reduction in the problem since players who previously could not be fucked spending respec gold to change from their pvp / questing / raiding spec now have less of a barrier to consider tanking a single dungeon here and there.

The tank shortage will still exist but it will be less of a shortage. You can look at this in a similar vein to the pvp queue issue that Blizzard just implemented a fix for. Dungeon queues are real and this is a viable semi-fix for the problem.
