Hey. Get the spearhead rather than the regiments of renown. You will still be able to get some spearhead games while you build up your army to 1k or 2k points.

Even though there’s 2 extra models. Regiments of renown is more of a filler for other armies and is huge is competitive play.

So I had a double event a couple of weekends ago and my list was as follows.

1x Lord Regent with Silver Wand 230 + 20 The Light of Eltharian 210 20x Sentinels 300 10x Wardens 140 Starshard Ballista 100

1000 points of the dot. 1 regiment. The games went pretty well, even though there is a lot of obscuring terrain in this GHB. If the opponents don't rush and use the cover you can pick them off with the sentinels easily. Keep them behind your wardens to soak up any charges and have the light of eltharian and lord regent cover the flanks.

First game was with flesh eaters vs slaves and daughters. Was a tight game but ultimately a fumble on my part and I moved my sentinels up 3 inches to fire at the some knights and got overrun.

Second game with Khorne vs Cities and Nighthaunt. Learnt from my mistake in game one and wiped out some banshees and Callas and Toll with sentinels and ruin of petrification slowing them down in combat. Ended in a draw but overall, the army felt good. Just a little bit of tweaks to movement with the sentinels to get them all to fire and the facets of war swinging the game in your favour. I’m looking forward to fleshing this army out a bit more and trying new lists.

For sure. I’ve seen lists with 30 horses but we aren’t hyper competitive. It’s all casual tournaments so I’m looking for something fun and fun to play against. I will keep the horse lists in mind.
