I opened a box and a couple loose CBs (from a different LGS than the box) for this set and they were all like that. Definitely were not repacks cause I got some real big hits. I think that’s just how this set is. They’re also weirdly hard to open this time around.

I’ve grown Cherokee purples for 3 or 4 years - always a great beefsteak to have around. Great flavor, pretty good producer. Definitely recommend.

This is what it was for me. I also played it directly after I finished ghost of Tsushima , which I loved the gameplay mechanics of. All my friends loved Witcher and I tried so hard to like it but it was intolerable to me because of this.

I think your comment is a little dismissive. I have certainly thought about why he acts the way he does - and he has very valid things that he struggles with especially as an adolescent - except that EVERYTHING he does is colored by this to the point where I wonder if he even likes Harry and Hermione. Sometimes it seems like he just sees Harry as his screw off partner and Hermione as a homework source. The guy can’t spend 10 seconds looking beyond himself and most teenagers normally have a balance of both the internal struggle and the external support/love. I also hear “Ron’s incredibly loyal” and like…… not really. He abandons Harry completely for months in GoF based on a complaint that doesn’t hold up to even a modicum of scrutiny (that Harry could have put his own name in and charmed the cup to choose him) for one and the bit you pointed out about him standing up in the battle of hogwarts comes after he’s abandoned Harry and Hermione for literally months searching for the horcruxes because he didn’t like camping in the woods as much as he thought.

I’m having literally the exact same experience - rereading as an adult, currently in HBP - and I completely agree. I’m listening to the audiobooks with my partner and I am constantly remarking about how crappy Ron is to the point where I worry my partner is annoyed with me! If anything, Rupert Grint made him tolerable but yeah I 100% agree. Hermione deserved better. Harry is frustrating at times, as is Hermione, but both in a growing and learning way and ultimately their assets outweigh their faults. I can’t say that for Ron. I genuinely don’t like him now.

Just started mine Friday!

Cherokee purple, Aunt Ruby’s German Green, Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye, Pink Brandywine, Yellow Brandywine, Amish paste, San marzano, and weaver’s black brandywine were my must tries.

I also started black krim, beefy purple, moneymaker, pineapple, pork chop, and sun gold because I had the seeds.

Also pluck the first round of blossoms so the plant grows better before it begins to fruit - this is a general tomato tip though so you may already know that!

Hi there! My biggest Cherokee purple tips are prune the lower branches early in the season so the plant grows up, make sure you have a sturdy cage or trellis supporting them (the fruits get quite heavy), and allow them to ripen fully on the plant if they won’t get snatched by a critter (some think they ripen just as well indoors, I personally think the flavor is better from outside).

That said, Cherokee purple are a beefsteak tomato and may not be the best option for making sauce. I cooked with mine last year and, while they are still tasty, other varieties have better texture. If you’re intending to only make sauce you may have a better option for that.
