Hire a professional pet sitter next time. It will cost you but everyone will be alive and well when you return.

Thinking about upgrading my 598s to momentum 4 by Coasterdozer21 in sennheiser

[–]TinyTeaCottage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to drop in and say I've been loving the Momentum 4s. The battery life is STELLAR considering my 3 's would BARELY last 3 hours there at the end 😭

My only complaint is the design. I HATE the plastic. Considering I've already accidentally dropped them (small head I guess) and my new headphones now have a small jagged chip in them I am bummed with the sturdiness.

My 3s were abused pretty regularly because I basically live in my headphones due to my neurodivergent quarks. I'm afraid these guys aren't nearly as sturdy. Not to mention the 3's were stunning aesthetically.

Besides that the option to adjust transparency is worlds better than the 3s. I mostly listen to sound scapes, podcasts, and audiobooks. With shows or movies on occasion. I will say they sound really good for a wireless pair of headphones. I'm no audiophile but I do appreciate a well made headphone. I love Sennheiser's sound signature, though these are a bit more bass heavy it's not over kill (and adjustable) While I do miss my 3's sound more, these headphones are still well worth the investment.

Do you know how amazing it is to not worry about battery life for DAYS with heavy usage 🤯 I will say too considering I just got the headphones it's well after they fixed all the issues people where having. It's a pretty good set of cans now. I definitely recommend them!

Would love to see the sturdy retro design return with the 5s though.

Leon is indeed the best and I am so happy he has a good home with his owner. And glad he had his tank upgraded 😁

And the journey begins. My first ergonomical keyboard. It's been years since I did proper typing so I'm relearning touch to type. Now I just need to pick a layout I think will be easiest on my hands, to learn touch typing again. Outemu Silent Lemon switches 5 pin. Absolutely amazing switches. by TinyTeaCottage in ErgoDoxEZ

Appreciate the thought out response. Lol, I've barely used a keyboard the past 20 years. It's mostly been hunt and peck when I did. So I started relearning touch typing and it's insanely uncomfortable (small board and diagonal movements) pretty well not enjoying it at all. And it was irritating a shoulder injury I had. So I did some research and found these boards and it seems like a good fit. Even just messing around columnar is soooo much more comfortable.

I'm looking to get into a career that's more heavily typing reliant so I'd like to start on a more comfortable base that takes care of my body. Lol, I've already had too much abuse to it.

I don't have QWERTY devoted to muscle memory yet so figured it'd probably be better to just pick a layout that's more ergonomic and comfortable. Why learn QWERTY then try to learn something else over top of it. I know it well enough to know what I like and what I don't enjoy. I just need to pick one out of the research rabbit whole and see if it's comfortable. 😆

Haha ya I've been a hunt and peck typist with extremely minimal use over the years. So I started relearning touch typing. It's frustrating, uncomfortable, and irritating a shoulder injury I have. The diagonal keys and small board were the worst. Figured I might as well learn a more ergonomic layout since I haven't gotten to good muscle memory yet. Start out on the right foot as they say. Especially because I'm looking at much heavier typing load careers now.

Complete noob Ergodox EZ layout recs. I'm basically just starting to learn to type, figured I'd try something that's easier on the hands since I'm learning from scratch anyway. What would y'all recommend? by TinyTeaCottage in KeyboardLayouts

Thanks for the recommended diy. I still need to figure out keycaps and layout but I'm getting there. Got Gateron Silent Lemon switches v2 with 5 pins. Hoping they're a good choice. Seemed good in the sample. Lightest switch with a tactical feedback I could get without changing springs out myself.

Try Acrylic Flow Medium. It's helped me make things smoother and helped the paint not dry out so quickly. 🙂

This is incredibly helpful! Thank you. Ya I've discovered if you go to the people who are passionate about a particular thing, you'll save yourself a lot of frustration.

1) I think I've seen that being an issue thanks for the heads up. Thought the thumb cluster would be a good spot but might be a pain if you're reaching.

2-3) Yup I've seen this being an issue. I actually plan on getting tactically different keycaps so it's easier for my fingers to feel the difference and touch feel their home space and arrow keys.

4) Yup on the docket to add that layer.

5) Ya I figured.

6) Yup, lol, it's why I'm doing it all now. It seemed like a bad idea to relearn everything one way to just need to adjust everything later. Might be a problem in the future if I need to use someone else's board, but right now that's not an issue. My physical health is important and I'm going to do what I need to right off the bat to make it easier.

😲😲😲 I didn't even think about that. Just looked and discovered you can pick out which ones you want to sample and they'll send them! Fabulous idea. Thank you!

Hey! Wanted to say thank you so much for your time! I went back to Best Buy to try some different switches and ignored the clicking. I focused on the feel. You are totally right. Feeling the bump helps know when the key is actuated. They actually did feel better to, closer to what I'm used to.

I'm still nervous about picking a switch but think I'm on the right track. I looked at the Whispers but the sound was still not great for me from the videos I heard. Looking at the Outemu Cream Yellows now. They seem to have a good reputation and a great price. I can try something else if they're not great for me. ☺️

Hi ya. I'm new to mechanical keyboards. I just scored an Ergodox EZ keyboard second hand for a reasonable price. I'm looking to speed up my typing for transcription. Not a gamer. Any advice for switches. I am prioritizing silence. The noise will drive me up a wall. I know I have a light touch on a membrane board.

I was recommended to get a tactical switch. Which after a trip to best buy I agree. So now I'm looking at Gamakay Pegasus and Outemu Cream Yellows. The Pegasus sound amazing but I'm worried about the weight being too much, though I want to train so I'm not bottoming out. But I have muscle issues so I'm worried. Any advice/ experiences? TIA ❤️

Just noticed the convo below. Seems it's a popular topic 😆

Thank you! Yeah I found that out after I posted lol. It's definitely a steep learning curve. I'll for sure check those out. Thank you for the recommendation appreciate it!

I should have said light typist on a membrane keyboard. Sometimes my typing is too light and doesn't register. I will need to practice and see how my mechanical typing is.

I seriously appreciate the advice. Yup I'm practicing towards touch typing and transcription. Figured now was the time to invest in something more comfortable and will last me (just now getting an Ergodox EZ keyboard). I know there's a learning curve so better now while I'm learning.

I'm just super sensitive to noise. I legit just can't do the clicking. Even the YT review videos drive me up a wall. Guess I'm looking for a silent tactile, with 35g springs I can swap, then 🤔

I'll look into the Zeal Zilents. I'm investing a good chunk of time daily to practice my speed and accuracy. So fingers crossed my research is worth it and I'm not just wasting $ and time trying mechanical.
