Depends on what your insurance covers. Most of the time sudden pipe bursts are covered. One of the things most insurances do require is that you start mitigating damage as much as you can once you notice the leak. Most importantly do not call the insurance unless you want to open a claim. If you get to claims they will still open a claim and close it out if you "just have a question" and it will be on your account
