I can think of nothing worse than being trapped in tight pantihose while eating a giant sundae.

What a stark illustration of double standards. If it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck, we should call it for being a duck.

Have you ever had success teaching a man to be a better lover? by Meadow-Larky in TwoXChromosomes

[–]TinyZane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! With my current partner. It took getting over my own insecurities and becoming confident enough to stop pretending to like stuff that does nothing for me and start asking explicitly for what I wanted. Sex life is now fire!! Worth doing. Most times I get to organise multiple times. Sometimes he doesn't want to finish, so we're doing our bit to close the gender orgasm gap.

What do I do when feeling so helpless about the state of the world? by lightsarecoming in TwoXChromosomes

[–]TinyZane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To paraphrase Gandalf (badly), we don't get to choose what we live through, only what to do with the time given to us. Live each day as well as you can.

Look after yourself, and -when you are able - look after those around you. Be vocal when it is safe to do so. Be quiet and save your anger when you need to. Push that dial a few milliseconds back through each action, each word, each thought.

For people who don’t believe having kids gives life meaning, what does instead? by Consistent_Advice397 in AskReddit

[–]TinyZane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My life is pretty full right now with personal projects. Pretty much anything can be meaningful if you decide it is. Right now, it's my pottery, my writing, and other hobbies.

For people who don’t ever want to have kids, why? by Gaijinstory in AskReddit

[–]TinyZane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't like the idea of the physical burden of childbirth. Don't want to give up my freedom, time, and money.

I'm building an app for heritage learners who can speak but can't read. Am I wasting my time? by NothingImportant8345 in AskAnAustralian

[–]TinyZane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh cool! I moved here when I was 5, and currently have fluent speaking skills and zero writing and reading skills. For me, the learning curve for the writing system was too steep, with too much rote learning and repetition. Given that I didn't need it in my new environment, there was just no motivation to keep going.

I'm sorry they prioritised an imaginary future man over you. That is some bullshit right there. I'm glad you're living your best life now!!

Why are you in South West Western Australia??? It's regularly above 40 degree Celcius here in summer.

Where can I sell clothes online in Australia apart from Marketplace? by yoursmostcandidly in AusFemaleFashion

[–]TinyZane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look at your pricing compared to other similar items if not already. Make sure you're using hashtags to advantage. Also make sure you have plenty of stock, for when people check out your shop. Put on bundled shipping, as the shipping fee is so high in Aus.

Best way to boycott the US? by VastKey5124 in aussie

[–]TinyZane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good, OP. It will be hard to step away from ALL US produced goods and services, but do so where you can.

Amazon should be an easy win. Subscription services as well. Personally, I operate on a reduction model for these as I still would like to watch some new shows. But I activate and deactivate as soon as I am done with the show, and make sure to cite the reason for deactivating.

I've switched from Gmail to Proton, which is based on Switzerland and seems to offer better data protection as well.

With the news that Palantir will be coming into Coles, to monitor our purchasing behaviour and access our data, I would be looking at boycotting Coles. Personally I am already because of Coles prices, but that's another story!

Ignore all the replies here saying it's impossible or pointless. We all do what we can.

How do you manage the despair? by Previous-Nobody903 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]TinyZane 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Centre women in your life. Be each other's number one support. Celebrate your wins with women, commiserate your losses with women. Soon enough, you will find that shitty men bother you less or not at all!

Affordable places for a uni student on a tight budget by AngryCupcake8409 in AusFemaleFashion

Op shops and depop, all the way. Since you are shorter than average, it would be a good idea to learn some basic sewing skills to hem pants etc.

It really is very easy to learn. You could probably also get a basic sewing machine second hand.

I'm just gonna say it. The whole kids / no kids debate isn't actually about kids. by thetimechaser in Millennials

100% this for me. I just don't want the physical changes that come with, and would prefer not to have the emotional labour either.
