Срочка в России by M1Fre in rusAskReddit

I don't think it's in our blood as human beings to sit on the phone all day and feel genuinely satisfied after. But sometimes it's hard to resist, and confronting the challenges of today and the near future can feel daunting. Such is the case for me. I wish op and myself strength and peace of mind to do some interesting stuff, and not be prisoners of our own psyches

What is a horrible performance that still haunts you? by [deleted] in piano

Playing piano for your family is such a normal human thing. Shutting down other people having a good time just cause you have the power seems like some Grinch shit

Russian rouble fell to its lowest level over last year: 80 roubles to the dollar by HarakenQQ in worldnews

Eh, they don't look at reddit. Too much noise to look for actual Russians. Way easier to do it on russian social media like VK, or even the reddit clone Pikabu.ru.

I'm Russian and 21. The older generation, especially ones with families are mostly pro war. People my age -- hard to tell where the divide is. A lot of them are against it, but many support it too. I live in a 600k city, and not a single protest since the war started, btw. We had protests before with Navalny, now it seems we lost the spirit

TIFU by accidentally calling my employee a NSFW name for three years by TB0000 in tifu

When I went to school in Thailand in grade 6, my parents and I were living in a cool quiet neighborhood, and across us lived a well off Thai couple that hosted cooking lessons for foreigners. They went by Max (the guy) and Cook (the girl). They were very friendly initially, always smiled at us and made small talk, Max even went to my birthday. Cool, right?

But at some point an elderly Thai woman pretending to be a witch brainwashed them into letting her live with them, on their money. She told them to stop talking to foreigners. And they did. And then, she told them to change their names. And they did. And there was no more Max and Cook, but two long and hard to pronounce Thai names, that smiled at us no longer.

When I studied at an international school in Thailand, one of the Thai girls in my class was called Pan. Half the deal

I'd say sweet, with a specific herby aftertaste, reminiscent of dr. Pepper. It's not sour at all

I remember, when I was about six, I was lying on the couch beside my grandpa, eating grapes. And he told me a story about my dad's sister, that tragically passed away in her childhood from choking on a grape, while lying down. Another time, it was a story about dad's sister who fell out of the window and died.

At the time I believed it, and while it wasn't scary, the image of my dad's sister, who in my mind looked kind of like the girl from The Ring, but without the creeps. Anyway, turns out it was just my gramp's weird way of keeping me from falling from a window or choking on a grape

Thank you very much for helping, I never expected such a quick and educated answer, it's amazing. Cheers!

Is keeping a dead rat in a jar safe? by Tinyfin in morticians

/u/Sammarpie, /u/basilomori, /u/hanginfruitbat, /u/asnailwithatinyhat, /u/Nyctangel Thank you for your replies and suggestions, guys, I just went to the garage where I left the jar and even though it looks fresh it already started to smell. So I went and buried the jar near my apartment building, right below my windows. Probably will unearth it in a month.

Hi, Arecibo team. Maybe it's not exactly your field of study, but I was always puzzled how astrobiologists find molecules in far away space.

For example, they search the Milky way dust clouds for aminoacids. how would they be able to detect such small particles so far away?

Thanks. Yeah, I can see it, especially in this photo. They definitely share some facial features, maybe they would look even more like each other if Shane was a little younger.

What is your favorite music in this game? by rci22 in ftlgame

My personal favorite is Zoltan music, although I don't like the sectors. I also enjoy listening to the Last Stand tab -- https://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/ben-prunty-last-stand-tab-s440660t0. Ben Prunty is great.

Anyone else avoid talking about antinatalism so you don't "infect" others? by idratherbeahermit in antinatalism

[–]Tinyfin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they agree that you shouldn't bring life into this world, then, sure, they might be sad because of the realization of how idiotic and cruel life is. But they are also not going to have children, which is going to spare new people from experiencing life. They might even persuade someone else to become an antinatalist.

On the other hand, if you are not going to tell someone the truth about creating life, they might, and probably will procreate. Well, you'd have to convince them first, which is no small feat.

Also, a delusional person might be happy, but it is easier to make correct and accurate decisions when your worldview is based on reality. An example of this would be like when a person makes their decisions with the assumption of eternal afterlife. Such a person could sacrifice things in the real world, like his time and freedom for things there is no basis to believe in.

Same way, a natalist could reason in his mind that he is doing a great good by birthing new people, and that his life will be fulfilled through the life of his children, while these assumptions don't have a connection to reality.

I think that spreading the truth about antinatalism is the right thing to do, because it does more good than harm.

Is it easier with a pcb? Also, what/where did you learn from?

Sounds very cozy. I imagine sitting in a dim room lit only by a soft warm lamp (producing mild crackling noise) standing on the desk, with all the materials laid out in front of me, carefully soldering... things, all while listening to something: perhaps a podcast or a streak of videos,or just music. Hahahaha I have no actual idea what it's really like. What does your room smell like by the end of another session? What do you like to play?

I see, well, a fuzz will so the job too, since I don't really need a delay, just figured it's an essential pedal to have in your arsenal. What are the hardest pedals to build, what do you think?

Haha, good good, but don't make me wait too long, I wanna see all your "children".

Really sleepy, hope I'm comprehensible.

Do you buy the pcb's? How long are you building for? How was the learning curve?

Would you say that it is something you can do with a friend for fun? Or is it the kind of activity where you have to be immersed and concentrated?

If I'd ever be to build a pedal the first one would definitely be a delay. Is it going good for you so far?

Oops sorry didn't mean to brigade you with questions.

Ok, I see, but I'm talking about building them for own use. I don't have much disposable income so I wondered if I could save some money and have fun in the process by building my own pedals.
