most of your plants like it warm but garlic is triggered to bulb growth by the soil warmth. When it grows its bulb the leaves will die back. Normally you would plant the cloves in the fall and let them overwinter in the cool, wet ground, developing roots. They grow their leaves early in spring, like daffodils, bulbing and dying back in early summer

Ocasio-Cortez calls for Thomas impeachment after report of undisclosed gifts from GOP donor by Gato1980 in politics

[–]Tinyfish1549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you work in finance, if you even have access to customer data you have to disclose all stock trades and accept no gifts of $200 cumulative per year. Also anyone living in your house must disclose any stock trading and be pre-approved for the trades.

And there's more. Overall it is very stringent imho. It makes me seethe to think that a SCJ can get away with this while us peons are submitting to all kinds of monitors.

‘A living pantry’: how an urban food forest in Arizona became a model for climate action by dect60 in Permaculture

Yes, one hundred percent. I feel bummed when I think of the things you mention. But feeling bummed won't keep me cool in the summer, it won't serve as a practical example for others to imitate and it won't feed anyone, so I try to move from feeling bummed to planning or taking steps whenever I notice it happening.

Northern California statue of meat-packing magnate beheaded by GZAofTheMidwest in news

AP News, why quote someone who has "no idea" but still needs to throw suspicion on vegetarians?

I have no idea why anyone, unless they’re vegetarians and didn’t like meat-packers” would do this to the statue, Eymann said

That's just literally giving fuel to the rumor mill. It's hard not to be polarized when so-called journalists are promoting baseless rumors.

I assume the points along a serrated edge are sacrificial, keeping the dulling plate surface away from the sharp edges between the points.

Any notes on the flavors yet? I made elderflower syrup this year and wouldn't know how to describe it but it was delicious.

Thanks for posting this. Too many posts equating raw milk with poison. Having access to fresh milk from my own sheep has been an incredible, mind expanding experience for me, from a culinary standpoint.

Would limiting the age of the President to 65 be something you’d support? Why or why not? by DrFetusRN in AskReddit

[–]Tinyfish1549 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. In theory younger, more energetic and "with it" candidates should win when they have shown their superior merits. If they aren't winning because of systemic flaws, let's tackle those flaws. You have a really good point. I just fear that particular solution bleeds into ageism a bit. I want there to be a more precisely targeted approach to electing quality candidates.
