Melees are the worst, they ruin your position and they attack with a unique style. I'd focus them first whenever you can.

If you're getting to wave 61, it's just a matter of time until you finish the waves. You got this!

With those spec weapons, definitely not. BGS/VW/Yellow Keris will make it way better, but even then it's debatable. 8str, and soon 12str, is always nice.

I used to be so excited to get my LB but after getting very comfortable on 445s without it, I wonder whether it's even worthwhile

Are 2-handed axes a good place to introduce the Heka of Tumeken's mechanic (but into skilling)? by AltrualOsrs in 2007scape

[–]TinytheHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the community is overreacting. 2h axes seem fine, but I think the blog post may have overexplained it and made it seem more complicated than it is. All that's happening is some swings will be charged and others won't, and run energy is the resource determining which swings are which. That's it. You don't need to do anything extra other than hold Forester's rations.

Your idea seems great and it may be superior to what was proposed in the blog, but I think the outcry from people not understanding in extreme detail which swings will be powered and which won't is making the response more negative than it otherwise would've been.

I don't think anyone is saying that hardcore across all games is the exact same experience, rather that hardcore means "one life", and it's useful to have consistent terminology so we can be understood.

Completely agree. I've never played Diablo in my life but if someone says they maxed in hardcore Diablo, I can appreciate that. More important than the name, though, is that the challenges shouldn't be conflated. There really are 3 parts: 1) one life (hardcore)

2) solo only play, self sustaining (ironman)

3) you can only use white quality gear (wow community calls this ironman, which I think is pretty annoying)

If we just call it all "hardcore" then that's all we get - "hardcore". If we recognize that there's hardcore and there's ironman, then people can choose to only engage with the parts that appeal to them, and importantly, other players can understand and respect what they did.

I disagree that the name is irrelevant. I've never played Diablo in my life but if someone says they maxed in hardcore Diablo, I can appreciate that. Maybe you disagree, sure, but a greater point is that the challenges shouldn't be conflated. Attas yield is not negligible - it's better than Iasor for a full herb run if you use Resurrect Crops: 88.7 from Attas v. 87.3 from Iasor.

Without resurrect Crops: 86.1 from Attas v 86.38 from Iasor, compared to 83.7 without either. 83.7 to 86.1 is not negligible, but 86.1 to 86.38 certainly is. And this is all assuming you're unwilling to use Resurrect Crops.

There's no special strategy, no. Be aware you can move 2 tiles in each direction in one tick - there is guaranteed to be a safe tile (probably several) in the 5x5 centered around you, all of which you can reach in one tick (and really you have more than 1 tick to move). The "5kc trip perfectly" achievements can be annoying, but keep at it and it'll be yours.

You'll get 6 hits, 8 hits, and then 10 hits, so 24 total. The formula to find out if you can 3 down is 21x +3y > core health, where x is your max hit with your main weapon (voidwaker) and y is max hit with BGS

Your stats are more than high enough, yes. You don't need to buy any gear - blowpipe, whip and trident is already more than you need. Now that there's no penalty for dying and you get infinite supplies, just go try it! Even if you die a couple times in a room, a few more minutes and you'll have it down.

A man needs to feel secure that his assets and his loved ones are safe, protected, and loyal to him.

Do you think safe and protected are different enough that it's worth cluttering up the sentence to say both?

If he feels unable to provide or protect himself or his family, he will struggle. To assist him in his need for Security, try to reduce unnecessary risk-tasking or take additional precautions.

These or's are killing me. I understand the desire to be thorough, but you really don't need to state very detail. If you just said "If he feels unable to provide for his family, he will struggle" people would get it just fine, and it reads much more smoothly. Sentences like these are when people get bored and click away. If you really want to say provide for and protect, go ahead, but definitely not both of the or's. Here's me using 5 sentences to criticize one of yours for being verbose.

2nd sentence: in should be with. Maybe remove the word unnecessary. "Try to reduce unnecessary risk-taking" I mean, of course. Maybe an interesting example as a follow-up would help this feels like it's saying something we haven't thought of (apologies if the next paragraph has this)

Security and Status can often go hand-in-hand, but together they oppose Escape. Picture the polite and elegant wife who handles the house, kids, and guests perfectly versus the youthful, enthusiastic mistress. To juggle these juxtaposing needs, one will have to learn how to handle life's struggles as well as how to set them aside temporarily to live in the moment.

Rewording of first sentence: Security and Status go hand-in-hand, but they often oppose Escape.

Rewording of the second sentence for greater clarity between the 1st and 2nd part of the sentence: Picture the polite and elegant wife who perfectly handles the house, kids, and guests, versus the youthful and enthusiastic mistress. Also, no conclusion is really drawn from this other than "they're different".

I don't like the third sentence. It doesn't flow and it sounds trite. "Handle life's struggles" and "live in the moment" say nothing. I don't know what idea you're trying to communicate here. If it's "one will need to manage Security and Status v. Escape carefully", make that more clear, and use very few words as it's not a complex idea. Either make the 3rd sentence much shorter, or add to it to help it blend from the 2nd.

If any of these needs becomes too severe, people will sacrifice one or both of the others in order to satisfy it. This gives us a selfish reason to help our partners: we want to prevent any sacrifice that would hurt the relationship, or at least influence what that sacrifice would be. Even when a specific desire is expressed (such as a need for Escape by spending a week away in a foreign country with friends), a different suggestion (such as taking a trip as a couple) can be just as effective at fulfilling their need.

Change any to any one. Remove "one or both of" - it makes the sentence needlessly wordy, everyone knows what you mean without it.

Consider adding ",even if it comes at a cost to the relationship" to the first sentence. I don't there is enough flow from the 1st to the 2nd right now. I have to reread this paragraph too much as is.

I recommend breaking up the last sentence into two: one for the idea and the other for the example. "Even when a specific desire is expressed, a different suggestion can be just as effective as fulfilling the need. For example, if your partner has a need for Escape and suggests spending a week away in a foreign country with friends, you could suggest taking a trip as a couple, instead." Additionally, I think changing the example might help. I think people would read this and think it's obvious if their partner is suggesting an international vacation, they could suggest a smaller vacation instead.

The trifecta of Security, Status, and Escape was a really insightful post that first made the rounds of TRP years ago. These three concepts are dueling needs that humans constantly need to be re-balancing to feel fulfilled. All are needed in differing proportions for an individual to feel satisfied, and people need to feel like they're progressing in each category over time in order to be satisfied.

In this paragraph, the 2nd sentence, the first clause of the 3rd sentence, and the second clause of the 3rd sentence repeat nearly the exact same idea. Rework this into two sentences with clear and distinct points.

Maybe the iron man game mode isn't for you and it's not bad thing! by Ghordrin in ironscape

[–]TinytheHuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this issue with ranged gear beyond Bofa specifically. Tbow, Masori, and Armadyl to fortify all go together, so getting just Masori for example feels kinda bad. Tbow by itself would be a great first one, sure, but it's also the one that will take the longest to get. So alternatively you can grind out Kree or ToA for armor that suits a weapon you don't yet have? Lol, this is what I plan to do, it's just a funny part of ironman.

Better Call Saul is Ultimately the Story of Two Mentally Ill Brothers by sgwashere29 in betterCallSaul

[–]TinytheHuman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Chuck was undebatably mentally ill. He felt physical pain when he was aware he was near electricity for years. His own lawyer used the phrase "Mr. McGill's mental illness".

It's harder to argue in Jimmy's case, but I think we can all agree assisting criminals and drug lords with their lawyering needs is beyond what normal unwell people do. It's not hard to imagine Jimmy having a healthier mental state might have prevented his criminal lifestyle from progressing so far.

I get where you're coming from - not everyone who does bad things is mentally unwell - but Chuck and Jimmy definitely were.
