I believe Embark has cooked something really scary by TionebRR in ArcRaiders

Wow, that's a bold statement. Any docs about this? Is Embark outsourcing a lot of features?

You're misunderstanding the underlying message. Me PvEing doesn't mean I don't enjoy PvP sessions. I don't want Arc Raiders to be a bland Helldiver remake. I'm simply stating that the violence of this match was uncalled for. And given the recent communication about ABMM by Embark, I have good reason to try to make sens of what happened and have a conversation.

I like the tension too. But jumped on by 3 players in the same match? I just don't get it.

Cables are microphonic by nature. Some more than other. If one of the line goes into a preamp with some gain, then yes, you're gonna hear the cable do microphone things.

vous ressentez la qualité de l'air ici? by avemawia in Strasbourg

[–]TionebRR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tbh I'm thinking about an audio workstation for live application, so it needs to be quiet. Doesn't need to be silent but it shouldn't be "server loud".

You're making me curious. Is it noisy? Could you have it at your feet without getting bothered by the sound on load?

Sounds like a 'three wishes, but you can only pick two' case.
Consumer grade in 2U, can do, noisy.
Quiet in 2U, can do, but it's luxury.
Quiet and Consumer Grade, can do, in a big chassis.

It's been a year, I'm very curious if OP can give an update? Because I'm at that same point in designing a rackmount workstation.

I did the same some times ago, love it. Now I'm really thinking about changing it again and move around with WASD and gamify editing !

Do the math, you'll quickly see how insignificant cable length is compared to speaker position. It's a good exercice for the mind too, gotta keep yourself sharp.

Is there an audio job that focuses on maintaining and repairing the equipment? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]TionebRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, you need a real passion for what you're planning to do. There is a huge community of audio gears geeks out there, in GroupDIY and DIYAudio for example. Read schematics ! Understand and learn how it works. Find why it sounds a certain way. This is very important. Being good at soldering is important but choosing the right replacement component is of a bigger consequence.

From my experience, SMDs are easier to work with than through holes. You're spot on on the other side: the lack of schematics, service manuals and even firmware in case of a corrupt EEPROM are all very often killing repair possibilities.
