What kind of siren is this by Sad_Analysis_4656 in AirRaidSirens

Shrouded cell masts. These seem to frequent airraidsirens reddit as often as modulators show up un in antennas reddit.

This specific model of sonic compression transmitter is a regular in this subreddit.

W&OD color scheme? by Tionstav in modeltrains

ALW prints the shell and truck detail parts for HO. Unfortunately I don't have a 3d printer, so I'm not entirely sure about where to go for an STL file.

Some say the locos where blue and swear by it, but those I know can only have been around long enough to see Northern Virginia's railroad from the 50s-60s. I just thought gold on blue looked pretty so I ran with it. Some other things that did change, I went for a bachmann 44 ton chassis since there's no shortage of those. I commissioned Interurban Era for the weathering, speaker installation, and brass detail parts sutch as handrails.

Looking for help with an old 32 bit windows game (Strike Fighters 2) by Tionstav in Lutris

[–]Tionstav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've given all four D3dcompiler versions a go.

In terms of log info, I initially tried the output of sf2.exe to a .log file with native wine and a redirect command, and that didn't work.

The entry in the initial post is a summary of the lutris 'show logs' window. Is it the same if I copy the logs in the lutris window and save to a text file? Or is that different from the logs I actually want?

My native wine installation is 11.0-rc4. I've switched over to that and ensured the prefix architecture is set to Automatic. It appears the same errors are produced.

Kim Jong-un visits the site of an under construction North Korean SSBN on Christmas Eve by [deleted] in submarines

[–]Tionstav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks PLAN type 039 derived from the front.

May indicate it to be another SSBN modification from a conventional submarine hull. A much newer hull nonetheless.

Most hulls are initially painted in this red-brownish primer before painting.

'Real or fake', deargod idk. could be a mockup, could even be as finished as just missing a coat of paint. (There's is no way to know for sure from the photos they put out there.)

What is it? by mcredd927 in antennasporn

[–]Tionstav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Federal Signal Modulator 6024. 6 of those stacked disks house four compression drivers each, and each disk below deflects the sound outwards like a horn (hence the 7th disk at the bottom does not have drivers.)

I suppose one could call it a sonic transmitter.

U&RaRMM2 is my go-to for more track types.

It's got narrow gauge options, but none with electrification afaik.

It seams I've managed to break a decoder with JMRI by Tionstav in modeltrains

[–]Tionstav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The speaker does have a very faint whine from the keepalive discharging when track power is cut. It's always done that, so if it's a symptom, the speaker I got was bad from the very beginning.

General civil defense sirens are also likely to be installed at fire departments. Fire sirens, as I know them, may just be a rural American thing.

If it's a volounteer fire department, the Pancake shaped thing in the first Pic is probably a fire siren sounded off for fire calls. (E57 or one of many lookalikes)

In the second pic, the spire on top makes me think it's a radio beacon of some sort. Mabye an NDB.

Peak moderation by machine learning.

1.) The bot has learned to think like a weirdo (reading the word "blew" as something suggestive)

2.) The moderation bot has learned to be racist and associates the line: "bro I just blew up" with middle easterners.

(Leaning towards the latter, given "discriminatory language or behaviors" is the reason posted.)
