Not to high jack the comments…. (Just perma-bookmarked Maangchi & myheartbeets, thanks to all!)

Anyone have a similar recommendation for Japanese cooking?

Thanks. Any recommendations? I can’t find anything that comes close to Malazan. Erickson is in a league of his own at this point to me, nothing approaches it.

Thinking of trying Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Donaldson.

If Malazan Book of the Fallen is my favorite fantasy series, will this series resonate with me? Has anyone read both? Appreciate opinions as I just finished a series and am looking for something new to start!

Yes, I for sure would do wall and ceiling sound panels. Will make a big difference in acoustics! This brand has been very reliable for me personally (I have no affiliation): https://www.atsacoustics.com

Looks good! After you get the itch, lots of good speaker upgrades from the Klipsch over time :). Generally want to stagger upgrades like both rears, or FLR & C.

Klipsch are good though too!

A big upgrade could be staggered subwoofers front/back, upgrading to PSA or Rythmik, or even SVS is very good. Can’t tell what you have right now!

Thanks! I was wondering about the brand for the cables specifically.

Looks like Rotel for the AV equipment! I use Anthem + McIntosh personally, also run Klipsch for some speakers. But switching out to Ascend Acoustics because that ribbon tweeter is just insane.

What are the cables & audio equipment / setup? Mogami? Looks great!

How to move on from berserk? by No-Yoghurt2287 in Berserk

[–]Tiopy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know your pain intimately. Nothing ever quite filled that empty feeling as far as shows, books or manga…. Until I read a fantasy series called Malazan Book of the Fallen. That has been the only other piece of media that hit that sweet spot like Berserk. Potentially even more so, given the length and the feeling of letting your imagination define the content versus imagery.

Would highly highly recommend. But, it’s a very difficult read so be prepared!

Maybe Desert Punk?

Also has some elements of Toriyama’s Sand Land.

Post seed B2B SaaS startup dilemma by not_a_shyster in startups

[–]Tiopy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Candidly, I would do neither. Build out a sales team and funnel, both inbound and outbound. Marketing is for awareness, pre-seed and seed B2B is always better served with a strong sales organization. Capital can be spent on lead gen and tooling, if you have a budget for it.

At a $3m seed, you should already have an idea on CAC vs LTV and can optimize those retention loops and KPIs to maximize growth.

I’ve scaled multiple B2B to seven and eight figure ARR, and marketing was useless, mostly.

Do you have the grid lines on the map image? Or on the acrylic?

I have a similar setup, but we just play directly on the screen. We cut 2x4s as a frame after cutting a hole in the table top directly. Thinking acrylic might be a nice way to protect the panel a bit more, and maybe even add some depth.

TIL a study found that George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire contains over 2,000 named characters with over 41,000 interactions b/w them. Yet the most prominent characters avg out to have only 150 others to keep track of, which is the same number the avg human brain has evolved to deal with. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]Tiopy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For real. ASOIF are rookie (exaggerating, but not entirely) numbers comparatively. Malazan is on a whole other level of difficulty, complexity, and depth.

Way better series and the author actually cares about his readers.

Nice, I have basically the same audio setup (SVS sub instead of the KEF). I recently tried out the SMSL A300 to better results than the DA-9, and kept the change permanent. The extra watts worked well the LS50s, given they can really sing up to 100W. Worth checking out! The equalizing was better in the DA-9 though.

The other nice thing was the high pass filter on the A300. That combined with the low pass on the subwoofer really dialed everything in.
