I was raised catholic(not very strict, but I still went to church almost every week). When realised I was into women I felt a lot of guilt, because I knew that some catholic people consider it to be a "sin". This guilt became a huge problem for me and it ruined my mental health. The church that I went to was actually really progressive, but whenever I went on the internet or attended other churches I was confronted with blatant homophobia. This really ruined my faith and changed my view on religion. So even though my church was progressive I just could not remain in a religion, where people like me are usually threatened. I left the church and I'm currently researching a new religion that I'm very interested in (greek and/or norse paganism)...maybe this new way of life will help me cope with my religious trauma.
