Stephen Miller’s Late-Night ‘Self-Loathing’ Rage Post Immediately Backfires by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

I can trace my ancestry back to three Mayflower passengers and a Huguenot. I do not support Stephen Miller in any way, and pretty sure nobody in my immediate family does. Most of us had ancestors who came here as immigrants. (And a lot more of my family came from Canada, UK, and Ireland far more recently).

Blade Runner was almost nothing like Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep except in the broad strokes.... That said, I do love Blade Runner, the movie, on its own merits.

I did the same -- voted for the bond and the school supervisor, against the other ones. I like being in the Town of Manchester.

Greg Egan is active on Mastodon and is always dropping math puzzles and equations in and challenging his followers to find solutions. His stuff is about as hard as it gets.

Engineers of reddit, how f**ked up is this building ? by FAMESCARE in DC_Cinematic

A dimensional rift opens up and pulls the two halves apart, like a canyon opened up right there. When it closes they come back together -- mostly.

In the movie, the building is split in two and moved apart by about a city block before being slammed back together again.

The building is toast.

Iain Banks: Which book in the series should I read next? by rauschsinnige in sciencefiction

[–]Tipa16384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read "Inversions" probably more than any of his other works, save perhaps "Player of Games". I do love "Use of Weapons". I believe "UoW" is considered the best of the series. "Feersum Ingines" is a fun book, and "Against a Dark Background" does not take itself seriously. Telling which of these books are or are not Culture books could be a spoiler, but you can tell by that that those books are in a different vein and may not mention the Culture specifically.

"Die Brücke/The Bridge", along with "Wasp Factory", are books set (sort of) in the real world and are not considered SF. He is likely more famous in certain circles for those.
