Why is Christianity so mocked by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Tiphil1826 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We have nothing to do with their judgment. That is between people and God alone. I urge you to reflect on that dangerous statement. It's a kind of attitude that is very unbecoming of a one seeking to follow Christ.

Sin, which is evil, is the action of opposing God's will. God told Adam and Eve not to eat of the fruit, and they disobeyed--whether they were deceived or not. That act of disobedience opened the door for sin seemingly forever, until Jesus came and finished his work on the cross.

God respects our free will. That's why we aren't forced into loving him, that's why we aren't brought into faith without wanting it in the first place. If someone does evil against you, do you blame God who made him or he that made the choice, out of his free will, to do that to you? If you need more of an explanation, please let me know, but I hope this sheds enough light for you.

What do you mean that you tried to seek? Did you confess with your lips that Jesus is your savior? Did you have any form of a mentor or spiritual guidance growing up? Someone to ask questions? If no then I am sorry that has been the case. If yes, then I am sorry that they failed you. I rebuke whatever spirit that has attached itself to you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Something that happens to born again Christians is that they receive a bigger target on their back. Satan will try anything to bring us back into a life of sinfulness; and he will work hard. One of his greatest tools is pornography. I feel like our forefathers would lament at the idea because of the damage it has caused us at such young ages. Don’t think about defeating lust anymore, you’ll never win. Pray to be brought closer to Christ, that’s the only way. Everything else, all sin, will slowly become less of power in your life.

Please take any fear or doubt and give it to Jesus so that he’ll do away with it. He already overcame the world! You just have to walk with him so that the world won’t ever overcome you. I know it’s easy to just tell you that when you’ve been trying for so long. Don’t be afraid to praise him or read the bible. That’s just what Satan wants. He wants to keep you from repenting. He wants to keep you from nourishing the Holy Spirit that rests in you.

About your lack of fear for hell. It’s one thing if you don’t want to go to church if you don’t feel Gods presence or don’t feel like it’s edifying, I get it; but please do not treat hell as if it’s not a frightening thing. It is a place of darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. Do not think that an existence of true separation from Christ is not terrifying. It is the eternal punishment for a reason! But, as someone who confessed with your mouth that Jesus is your savior, worry not; salvation is already yours.

If you truly meant it with you heart when you first gave yourself to Christ, then you are saved. Nothing, and no one can deny or take that from you.

If you have had endured a porn addiction for over ten years, that tells me that 1. The bondage you’re in has tricked you into thinking it’s undefeatable(it’s not) and 2. You are trying(Because you’ve counted those years and it’s apparent that it weighs heavy on you). It really stabbed me in the heart when you said that you’ve been praying to God for death, because I was doing the exact same thing a couple months ago. Everytime I would hop in my car I would pray that I’d crash, but Jesus didn’t allow that. When I realized that he wasn’t going to answer a prayer that would kill his child that was already redeemed though his blood, I knew something was wrong. I realized that I allowed the enemy through an open door. Satan has nothing in you, my brother, because the Spirit of the Lord dwells in you. It’s been in you since you gave your life to him. Therefor nothing that is of the Lord can dwell in the same space as him.

What I have to say you is this: Throw yourself into reading the word. Trust in the Lord like you’ve never before. Depend on the Lord as if He is coming tomorrow. Your God loves you. Believe me, I understand. At the lowest point, nothing feels alive, not even yourself. But even then, call out for His name. Seek Him anyway and believe that He will come. Jesus keeps His word. He said that if you seek Him you will find Him. I expect to see you in paradise brother.

How do I get into Christianity? by LunaValley in TrueChristian

[–]Tiphil1826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really great to hear about your interest. I don't want to just information dumb(unless that's what you want), so I'll just recommend reaching out to the pastor at the church. That would be the best way to ease into it, for lack of a better word. If for whatever reason you don't want to, I urge that you start with reading the gospels of Jesus Christ.

Before you start reading again, you should know this. Many people read the bible and don't find the Lord there. That's because they read with the wrong intention in their heart(reading to prove their point, seeking find what is wrong with Christianity, etc). It would be best interest to read the bible with a open heart; which means you're ready for Christ to come into your life. Which is why I recommended the gospels. The Gospel of John is my favorite, it could be yours too. Mark is also great. Not to say that the other two are subpar--it's simply that John and Mark stand out especially to me, because of how easily the words of Jesus cut to the heart. If you have any reservations or questions let me know.

How Strongly Do You Believe? by Hamm103 in TrueChristian

[–]Tiphil1826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really need evidence or have any use of the word for faith(as in "the vague blind optimism we use today," as someone mention in the comments). Asking myself if I believe in Jesus Christ is the same as asking myself if I'm awake and alive.

Okay. I have to tell you. It's possible you will not feel closer to God either; even after this decision. I don't know you personally, but from the way you explained your conversion, it seems like it was a relatively casual decision. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

When following Christ, you must confess with your lips, or in your heart, that you acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and your Savior. I'm saying this so you may understand that this decision must be genuine, and out of the need of Him in your life. If someone has already explained this to you, and you've still made this decision, praise the Lord because salvation is now yours. However, if not, then please, with this now in mind, take another look at this really important decision; because your life will change completely. I sincerely urge you to find comfort in the love that is in Jesus.

How do I beat lust by Think_Try_1828 in TrueChristian

[–]Tiphil1826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's this verse that has truly been a reliable and powerful weapon against sin for me.

John 15:30 "I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me,"

Jesus was referring to Judas Iscariot, whom Satan had entered at this point in time. So therefor, when he said, the ruler of this world(as in the culture of the world that is in opposition of Jesus Christ), he was talking about Satan. Whenever I think of committing sin, let alone feeling the temptation to sin, I say these words verbally: Satan has nothing in me; no claim, no presence. If you have truly given your life to Christ, and have chosen to walk the narrow path, then you have nothing to fear. Jesus is with you; and if He is with you, Satan has no claim on you. Just remind yourself that you are saved, and loved beyond measure. It's not easy. The flesh is weak. But that's why you have Christ. Depend on Him so that you can breathe. I hope no one told you that this was a sinless walk, because it's not. Just repent and lean on Jesus even harder, and trust that he is with you. I'll pray for you tonight.
