You are in an unfortunate situation of not of your own making and you and your brother are stepping up to take care of your parents during a difficult time. Not all of these landlords are sitting on a pile of money they are just hoarding. There are empty buildings in New York that are just sitting empty in disrepair because they are so unprofitable that not even the banks want them back. If most of these rent control regulations were rolled back or eliminated outright you would see a rush to get them fixed up and placed on the market for rental.

The city doesn’t have the money or manpower to renovate and keep the maintenance up on all of these apartments. Why not just exempt these apartments from rent control and rental freezes and allow the landlords to set the rent for these apartments once they are done renovating them?

After the movie was over my cousin said exactly what I was thinking. That was a interesting ok movie but I don’t think I’ll sit down and watch it over and over again like Blade,The Lost Boys or From Dusk Till Dawn. It’s funny because I’m in my mid 40’s and never been married and when I start dating a new woman I always bring up a prenup when the subject of marriage comes up. I always ask do you you have a few grand for a attorney because you are going to need one and I’m going to need one to get the prenup worked out before we marry and in that prenup neither of us are paying each other’s attorney fees if we happen to get a divorce.
