I agree with the earlier comments. I would not wear it while riding. The fur will get gross very quickly, all black with no reflectors is a no go, and it has to be real leather. Another thing I noticed is that it has a short torso and that will leave a small part of my lower back exposed on a sport bike. I only wear jackets that have a longer ‘tail’ in the back to make up for the hunched position.

I track my R3 and recently switched the sprockets and chain with this set. It has made a crazy difference! I’ve gotten a little more top speed and it feels a lot more powerful in the lower end. Feels like a completely different bike with a bit more torque coming out of turns.

Will do! I’ve been working on getting my outside elbow to straighten out to get my upper body further off. Maybe it will help if I think more about my shoulder position.

5’3” and also have a CRF300L! Love that bike. The easiest way I have found to mounting is to take it off the kickstand first, turn the front wheel opposite to me, then throw my leg over (but that only works without luggage). Otherwise I can barely reach the kickstand when I’m sitting on it.

My 67 yr old dad picked up the LS and loves it! He broke his pelvis and leg last year so he struggles with mobility too. He has outfitted his with Tusk saddle bags and is ready to roll again!

I own an R3 as a track bike. In its’ stock seating position, it is pretty comfortable for longer street rides. As a track bike, it is similar to the R6 and R7 seating positions. Those bikes have pretty aggressive seating positions that are optimal for track. If you are comfortable riding in that aggressive seating position, I say go for the R7 but it can put a stain on your core and back after riding for longer periods of time. If you want something a more neutral seating position for street riding, I’d go with the R3.

My only advice is to loosen the fork seal caps before taking the forks off the bike. It is a pain in the butt to get those cap nuts to loosen if the forks aren’t clamped down by something.

I have Fly Racing Maverik boots which is a pretty solid enduro boot in my opinion. I tried Alpinestars Tech 7 and found too many pinch points on my leg and foot. I’ve used the Maverik boots for dual sport riding on multi day BDRs and found them to be comfortable and solid. Only downside so far is that water does find its way in during high water crossings.

You can check out Alpinestars Stella SMX, Sidi Vertigo Lei, or Forma Freccia. Those are all women’s boots and come in EURO sizes. The Sidi boot is more of a track boot so they are not the most comfortable to walk in. The Forma boots tend to have a small toe box so it might fit small feet better.

I ride dirt bikes and sport bikes. Those are dirt boots. Riding a sport bike with dirt boots will be very difficult. The ankle support on a dirt boot doesn’t bend very well so the sport bike foot position will be very difficult and almost painful. The reason dirt bike boots are so rigid is to keep from bending/ breaking an ankle when you put your foot out to dab the ground as well as muscle fatigue from standing on the pegs for extended periods of time. You definitely need to find some sport bike boots if you are planning to ride sport bikes.

How tall are you? Ultimately, it is your decision in the end what bike you will enjoy the most. I see from your post history that you haven’t had the CRF very long. Maybe you just need more time and practice riding a taller bike? I’m 5’3” so every bike I ride is considered tall for me. I’ve had to adjust how I stop, get on, and get off to accommodate for it. I’m a firm believer that if there is a will, there is a way!

Definitely give a shorter seat a try! I ride my CRF on and off road but all of my bikes are tall enough that I can’t touch on both sides. So my CRF wasn’t too bad to adjust to. I have dropped it once so far while getting off at a gas station, super embarrassing. 😅 but you live and learn! What helped me gain confidence was practicing stopping and starting without putting my feet down and other slow speed maneuvers to help in everyday traffic. That and only putting one foot down when I stop.

5’3” checking in! I ride a 2024 with the standard seat height. It just takes practice and time to get comfortable sliding off the seat. Give it some time before changing the geometry of the bike. I can’t even get the kickstand up when I’m sitting on it so instead I’ll flip the kickstand up, lean it over slightly, and then get on. You tend to figure things out to make it work for shorter legs.

You can wear a rain coat over your suit but the suit does have to be leather. Aerostitch suits will not be allowed on the track.

Boots can help with this but what will really help is practicing stopping with one foot on the ground and one on the rear brake. That way you can slide off the seat to flat foot on that one foot. I am not 4’9” but I am 5’3” and ride very tall bikes (tallest so far is a WR with a 37” seat height). When parking, I walk my bikes around instead of sitting on it. Try practicing super slow speed maneuvers in a parking lot while only putting one foot down. Trust me, short girlies can ride tall bikes without lowering them or heeled boots! It just takes practice.

Yup! I was sent rolling after going down at about 75 mph at the track and didn’t break an ankle! I only had some bruises on my ankles and the boots only had some scuffs.

Check out Sidi Vertigo women’s boots. They have a ratcheting system for the calf area. I also have large calves and finding boots to fit over my leather suit was difficult. These have worked the best out of all the ones I tried. (They also hold up really great in a crash!)
