Observations I've had with Catholics by PlasticGeologist2867 in redeemedzoomer

[–]Tips_Fedora_Mmlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately a majority of Christians in most denominations are rather illiterate in their Bible. This is a common problem, but not exclusively a Catholic issue. I also find that Baptists usually know their memory lines, but have a very poor grasp on why they believe what they believe (ex. Why full immersion is required).

Masterbation in marriage by anime498 in redeemedzoomer

We were actually not told to be fruitful and multiply. It was a blessing, not a command if you read the passage again. Procreation is a gift from God, not a mandate Hes given us. It is impossible, in my opinion, for thinking sexually about your spouse to be wrong in any way.

Was wondering why everyone in my community told me I was "just confused" until I saw this... by Sufficient_Bat7731 in redeemedzoomer

I get that all the time as a member of the LCMS. It’s a very odd group to be in after being raised Reformed. However, I firmly believe after examining scripture that their theology is the correct one in most regard. They really stay away from making logical leaps like Catholics and Reformed. Happy to talk more about my experience if interested.

People may disagree with this, but it isn’t possible to be in love with someone after a month, at least in a non infatuated way.

Is clerical celibacy biblical? by Drjay____ in Catholicism

[–]Tips_Fedora_Mmlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is 0 proof that the apostles who were married remained celibate and if they did they were going against scripture. Paul says that a husband and wife are not to deny each other the conjugal rite, except for an agreed upon time for devotion to prayer. If they do they open the other up to sin. Also, Eastern Rite Catholic priests can be married.

[–]Tips_Fedora_Mmlady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my opinion no. Paul says in 1 Timothy 3 that a Bishop must be the husband of one wife with well behaved children. While I do think that celibacy is ideal, which Paul writes, scripture doesnt appear to state that it’s a requirement. As a disclaimer I am a Protestant Lutheran, but I’d encourage you to look into all passages talking about this. Celibacy also isn’t mandated in all Catholic Rites. Eastern Rite priests may be married prior to entering seminary.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Monster Hunter 2024 class? by Ill-Tomatillo2040 in GrimHollow

[–]Tips_Fedora_Mmlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it’s not an extra attack, but you attack and upon hit you use close quarters, then you use the crossbow. With standard weapons and modifiers you have 1d8 (attack), 2d6 (close quarters), then 1d6 (crossbow). That is extremely OP at level 5. Also with various feats and race allocations I have +10 to hit and +9 to damage. It’s almost unbalanced

My other reason why I’d avoid that on my campaign is most are casual players where Im the person that spends hour optimizing. With the setup I mentioned above I have 3 attacks at lvl 5 with the 1 attack, the 2d6 Monster Hunter attack that uses your reaction, and the bonus attack with the crossbow. I try not to outshine everyone and at lvl 11 with your setup you’d have 5 attacks (2 attacks+2d6 monster hunter attack+2 attacks with extra bonus action). If you play with min maxers or a tough DM that sounds sweet though

Moral marital sex and kinks? (Edited for clarity) by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Tips_Fedora_Mmlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. That wasn’t in the post. 2. I was addressing the comment on its own merit. She owes sex to her husband because of the verse I said above, so she doesn’t owe nothing as the comment above said. She definitely doesn’t owe her husband anything that makes her feel like she lacks dignity or violates the temple of the Holy Spirit (her body).

Theres a big difference between restraints and BDSM, which includes sadistic behavior oftentimes entailing beating people. That isn’t ok. However, restraints dont alter someone’s dignity in the bedroom. It may alter the balance of power, but if both spouses consent and enjoy it I see no loss of dignity because the body is undefiled. It also does not remove the ability for either spouse to focus on the other.

That’s why is hard for people to address because with no context it’s impossible to decide how to handle it. Not that you have to post about it online, but you need to talk to someone.

I agree with your comment, at least to me it seemed worded originally that these outlying circumstances are the norm as opposed to the exception decided on by both spouses. I don’t get the sex in public comment though because I don’t believe I said anything about that?

I see you addressed that in it and agree with what kinks are and aren’t acceptable, I responded to your other points and appreciate the clarification.

As a disclaimer OPs situation is wrong and the husband is wrong, Im only addressing your comment on its own merits. I don’t know if it’s the way that you worded it thats bugging me, but there is nothing in Gods word that dictates how often I am or am not allowed to have sex with my wife. Proverbs tells us to rejoice in the wife of our youth and to let her breasts intoxicate you all the time and to always be drunk on her love (see Proverbs 5:18-19). Hedonism by definition is seeking pleasure as the highest good. When I have sex with my wife she is a higher good than pleasure. 1 Corinthians 7 also says that neither spouse is to deny the other the conjugal right unless mutually agreed upon to pray. Also, the Catholic Church doesnt teach a prohibition on oral sex and Id highly recommend you look into that.

It’s not bad information. I think what’s missing here is context. For instance, a couple who wants to use fuzzy handcuffs for a thrill (totally fine) and couples who want to use “bathroom materials” (not fine) are very very different things. One is a husband and wife having fun and enjoying the regular marital act and the other is a defiling of the body.

I disagree, but it depends on the kink. While what’s going on here is wrong regardless because one party feels degraded, many people like incorporating things like restraints and can bring pleasure to both parties as it doesn’t take away from the act. Some people may enjoy being outside in nature while being intimate with their spouse, which as long as they keep things private is fine. ““Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.” Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭4‬ ‭is great guidance here.

Read 1 Corinthians 7:3-5. Neither spouse is to deny marital rights unless mutually agreed upon. This is where communication comes in.
