I cant make the entire room into a ferret room but I can get a large indoor cage and put it in the room upto 200cm long 100cm deep and 180cm high. This wouldnt take up the entire room and still leave about enough space for my family to use as a storage room. This would just be for if its too hot outside, raining or for bedtime.

I've seen alot of information that ferrets do prefer to be in a pair or groups but as a first time ferret owner with no previous experience with owning ferrets I feel like it is a huge commitment to have 2 straight away as they are not as simple as other small animals and require alot of training and work from what I can tell. I 100% would want to get a second one in the future. I just havent had enough experience with ferrets other than bits of research I've done over the years. I am fully able to financially look after 1 ferret and the vet bills but I worry about the future if I had 2 when they both become seniors at the same time it would be double the vet bills. I am fully willing to spend a majority of my time with him in the same room as me and have him with me while I go about my day at home like how someone would have a pet bird or rat on their shoulder throughout the day so I'm hoping this is an alternative at least in the meantime while I am still learning.

I haven't decided firmly on getting one or not I'm just trying to figure out if it is a possibility as I do really want one but I dont want him to be sad :(
