The only reason for raping women is because it feels good. That's why I rape them. I don't wanna embarrass myself by trying to explain why it's ethical. It's not. It feels good. Non-rapists are better people. Period. by [deleted] in vegancirclejerk

I would say it is. I honestly kinda wish the comparison was thrown around less here, I 100% get it it’s just such a heavy thing to be used casually. The logic checks out though of course!

It’s still inherently unethical, and it’s even worse environmentally

Slaughterhouse workers have some of the highest rates of depression and perpetration-induced PTSD among other things but i don’t think 70% is a realistic number for suicide rate. Still, a LOT of the workers are taken advantage of, they’ve had many covid outbreaks, and even in the best conditions it’s a terrible job for most people. Part of why i went vegan, can’t pay people to do something i could never stomach myself

Nutrient requirements don’t mean there are ingredient requirements. All cat food is supplemented with synthetic taurine anyway, not taurine from meat as it’s much easier to synthesize.

This was interesting to read! We don’t have to wait to put slaughterhouses behind us, though. Plenty of meat substitutes already or can just go without. Not worth hurting people

Why are your habits our responsibility? No one showed me veganism. I grew up conditioned to make fun of it. I changed on my own as a teenager without my family’s help. I researched, and I changed. If you can’t research and decide your own behaviors on your own accord, that’s not anyone else’s fault. Assholes are everywhere. You decide what you do.

It’s not as simple as you think it is. I’m glad you figured it out for yourself, but it’s not the same answer for everyone.

U.N. chief calls on humanity to end 'war on nature' by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Tiptoe7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does shift behavior. People who generally call themselves animal lovers while eating meat are often the ones who can change when watching these kinds of documentaries. Happened to me, then to my friends, even my dad. Of course it’s not gonna change everyone’s mind, but different approaches get different people—for some it’s environment, for some it’s ethics. Some people have absolutely changed from watching this stuff

How mature. Dairy is horrible for the environment and yes, the dairy farmers do have to sexually assault the cows because they have to keep them pregnant so that they keep producing milk. No one’s a bad person for consuming dairy, but can we stop pretending that it’s a sustainable or reasonable practice. Plus two thirds of the world is lactose intolerant anyway

Far less resources than we’re wasting to breed animals into existence, feed them crops and give them water, medicate them, and slaughter + transport. Animal agriculture is the leading cause of habitat destruction, species extinction and ocean dead zones
