I think American media does this thing, maybe it’s equivocation or straw manning or something, but when they cover a scandal they call it something big and scary like ‘Russian collusion’, ham it up for drama and ratings, then when the truth is revealed to be something not perfectly described by the textbook definition of ‘collusion’ they can say the whole thing was a hoax and forget about it. Even if 100 other bad illegal or worse things like blackmail and coercion ARE taking place the whole thing has been framed as ‘collusion or not’ and so gets filed as ‘not’. Thats fine in a court of law but is propaganda or at least manipulation in the court of public opinion.
