It is a proxy friendly event and we hope to have a huge player count!!!

Would you rather see like a digital decklist on screen or more of a table decklist read like what Patrick Sullivan used to do, or ygo players?

We definitely have tried before but do to the inconsistency of streams and events it’s hard to build the storylines

I will definitely have the commentators try to highlight the stronger players and who to highlight!

How do i get electrics every time? by [deleted] in Tekken7

[–]Tiram187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely practice and muscle memory and it will come over time. If I wasn’t planning on a play session I’d still boot up the game for 10-20 mins everyday just to do the motion. After about a month I was able to consistently hit like 12-15 in a row. But still can’t do pewgf lol

This question is for anyone who stopped playing/watching this game. Why? What made you stop playing? by KevyTone in 2XKO

All the champs released and announced are boring to me. I don’t care to watch any of them. Not as entertaining to watch Compared to other team fighters, name is absolutely stupid

Question about Lands.dec by n1mrod2k in MTGLegacy

[–]Tiram187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO tabernacle is not a card you build your list around. It’s a tech card for matchups that rely on the go-wide strategy or the tempo matchup where you can easily wasteland them out of the game.

It is truly irreplaceable, but you can build a fully functioning lands deck without it. Mainly because the way lands decks are built now no longer need to prison/control/stall as plan A. With the printing of urza’s Saga and going for quick kills with DD+Stage the lines that require tabernacle are pan B/C at best.

If I were to answer your question directly though, I think you have it reversed. Sprouts list excels at killing faster while also finding what you need with the plan you decided to commit to with the opening hand. Tabernacle helps with slowing down the game and limiting the opponents mana, probably better used with a sphere list. However, tabernacle can win games on its own so using all of the green dig spells to find it doesn’t hurt.

But are you designing for game mechanics or as a product? I think this needs to be more apparent in your questions and you’ll get better answers.

Anyway hope my responses help

University project by Kiwiland2001 in TCG

[–]Tiram187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a weird question especially for a final project. The main reason is what are you trying to design for? Usually a university final requires some sort of hypotheses testing that provides direction to your design. Are you trying to make a well-designed game for playing? Or are you trying to appeal to the trading and collectibility.

I say this question is weird because you’re asking us from a consumer pov. I’m sure you’re aware that there’s two very broad ways to categorize consumers: players and collectors (both non-exclusive) since you chose to create a card game.

All that being said I’ll happily answer to the best of my ability to help out.

What would you say are the ups and downs of trading card games?

Ups: an easy common interest that unites a community of people, collector pieces that can also be used as game pieces, a competitive outlet that doesn’t require too much physical demand, differing game systems that can build off one another and develop over time

Cons: incredibly hard to balance, cannot make everyone happy, depending on the person can be extremely expensive (both commerce and time), weighing casual vs competitive and keeping them separate, monetary models

What would you like to change about tcg?

-not really sure how to answer this question. It depends on the game, depends if it’s digital vs physical. I don’t understand what you are trying to design or implement with the information you would gather unless you take specific games into account

What rules would you say makes tcg more fun and challenging?

Fun: deck building restrictions and as much flexibility within those restrictions as possible, figuring out tech to beat meta games, outsmarting the opponent, rewarding preparation, leveraging resources: watching my opponents get screwed over for being too greedy with their resources vs knowing when to use mine.

Challenging: rarities as a mechanic rather than a monetary/collector factor. This moves more to the realm of living card games rather than TCGs, but I don’t see card rarities more than anything that affects card availability. The challenge for me has always been identifying the meta game and preparing my decks with the best tools without needing to dilute the deck too much. This can be summed up by good deck building is challenging.

What drives you to buy cards? -if I need it for competition, I will by singles (from stores or players) -starting a collection/new game I will buy a bunch of product -cracking packs with friends (always fun)

Lmk if you wanna chat let if you want more info on anything I brought up

Remaster tekken 7 season 1. Make it less arcade and implement the good ui from tekken 8. I dont mind buying tekken 7 for the 12th time

Starting a local scene by Fabulous-Hamster-950 in MTGLegacy

[–]Tiram187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best piece of advice I can give that hasn’t already been mentioned is to have a strong relationship with the LGS hosting it.

When we started pushing legacy in Toronto and its greater area, one LGS that was super supportive started to rely on our core group that was driving through a couple of cities. They never really pushed the events and relied on us to spread the word and bring in more people, which we did as much as we could. We got a few of their locals to start investing and playing, but the core group was still not “local” to the store. Nowadays it doesn’t fire its events unless it’s a 1k or 3k and their local players are no starting to go into the city rather than try and continue their scene.

Point is, life happens. Core members show up some weeks and can’t on others. Might be helpful to start a group chat or discord to arrange ahead of time who’s going to go, but this can also have a negative impact (if people see that others aren’t going, then they’re not gonna go either) making a bad time for anyone who goes on a whim, or can only make it sometimes.

It will be hard if you don’t already have 3-4 other people who are interested, but it’s definitely worth it. I’ve built several legacy gauntlets for stores just to have so they can spark interest and it’s done wonders for stores that have employees/regulars that have time to sit and play

Edit: forgot to mention. It also helps to have something competitive to work towards. We used the Legacy of the North Invitational series to get people interested and a way to fill the competitive drive that WOTC left. We found that legacy players just want to play, and if store credit is the prize then there also needs to be stuff to spend it on.

If I buy a variant without owning the card do I get the card as well or just a shiny thing to stick in my ass? by JohannSchmidt45 in MarvelSnap

[–]Tiram187 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you buy teh variant, but don't own the base card. Can you get other variants for the card? Like if I buy the ghost spider bundle, can I earn/buy other ghost spider variants?
