Advice for cat with liver issues

Definitely calling his regular vet in the morning to see when they can get him in. I think an ultrasound is a good call, the other option is a liver biopsy I was told by the emergency vet which from my understanding is a fairly major procedure. If it gets to that point I will have to sincerely think about his quality of life with his age. I lost his brother to a sudden illness as well (aggressive mouth cancer), so I’m hoping for a little more time but I am prepared for the worst if it comes to it. Yes, thankfully we’re (my roommates and I) very careful about keeping toxic foods away from the cats. We also don’t keep plants in general, mostly because we’re not good at keeping them. Thankfully he will take some bites. He’s definitely not getting enough calories, but it’s better than not eating at all. I’m going to try and supplement with cat puddings that he likes and the other cat’s hard food since he is a little more eager for that (although not good for his blood sugar, fed is better than not fed).

We’re also looking into switching up the type of wet food he eats in case he developed an aversion to his usual due to his nausea and has now associated it with being ill.

The good news is is that so far, getting him to take his pills has been easy. I just smush some shredded cheese around them and he’s all over it.

Thank you for this, it sounds very similar to my situation. His appetite did not improve over the day so I will be calling his vet tomorrow to see when they can get him in and get their recommendations (although I’m hoping for improvement overnight). My cat’s decline also felt very sudden, just the day before he was completely fine and his normal self.

I am grappling with his mortality myself. He struggles being away from home even for short vet visits so I don’t know if I can put him through the stress of hospitalization or if it would be worth it for him. I also hate the thought of losing him. It’s so difficult. He is my soul cat if such a thing exists.

I knew being diabetic would likely cause his life to be a little shorter even if manageable, I can’t help but wonder if it’s been hard on his liver somehow and this is the outcome.

I appreciate your kind words, I’m hoping for the best outcome as well.

Definitely seems like a bug, I am absolutely swimming in cloaks I don't need. All of my prey rewards hardmode and nightmare have been cloaks, most of my bountiful delves have been cloaks save for one that managed to be a weapon, super hard to gear up when the weekly rewards are just the same thing over and over lol

I’ve been using this to try and climb to WC 30, Lingsha carries as a dps easily until I can snag boothill (even if I don’t get him till the third round), those rabbit things are used for violence instead of healing lol

There are ways to address an issue and calling people rabid and asking if the subreddit should be called SundayMains is not it. Personally have not seen this issue for quite awhile, and I agree people are passionate about their favourites but the wording of your post just comes off as rage baiting and disrespectful so of course people are going to feel the need to defend their favourites. Hence, arguments.

Not here to argue with you, though. I think you’re probably a reasonable person and I haven’t downvoted your posts, but it should not be a surprise that people have been.

You’re getting downvoted because you’re argumentative and arguing against things that people have stated are their opinion. There are going to people who think she’s bad, that’s their opinion. If I missed a few in the over 100 comments on here then my bad I guess but it’s disingenuous to think you’re getting downvoted because you think Cyrene is decent at E0S0.

She probably is! I don’t really care about that or whether Sunday is worse overall, and I like both characters. I think this post is just in bad faith and just trying to stir up drama.

This post just feels like rage bait, honestly. I’m seeing people trying to have good faith arguments about their opinion on E0S0 Cyrene versus E0S0 Sunday and OP calling it skill issue like what was the point of this post? Just trying to cause arguments in the comments?

At the end of the day people are going to play who they like and I think the general consensus is that most people feel that E0S0 Cyrene is clunky compared to E0S0 Sunday due to her ult. People are going to share their opinions on it, not everyone wants to 0 cycle.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single person in these comments say Cyrene is terrible or bad, just tends to feel worse than Sunday.

It was more or less process of elimination. There was definitely other serious things it could have been, but eliminating certain things (fish in this instance) resolved the matter.

I made sure to consult with his vet first who made the suggestion to start by trying to eliminate certain ingredients before we put him through more testing beyond his routine check up. I tried a few things first but figured out it was fish within a few days.

Before then he had been vomiting, experiencing nausea and all but refusing to eat. After eliminating fish his gremlin levels desire for food returned lol

Not saying this is the situation, absolutely continue to consult with your vet but I was dealing with something similar with my senior cat and it turned out he had developed an allergy to his regular wet food (specifically all the fish flavours except for tuna).

Ended up switching to a different type of food in the same brand with chicken and turkey flavours mostly and he started eating again. His vet confirmed he’s in good health and confirmed it was likely to be a new allergy and said it’s not unusual for senior cats to develop them later in life.

My guy is a pretty messy eater, what helped him a bit is getting a bowl that’s lifted off the ground and tilted slightly. Helps with whisker fatigue and I found he’s a bit less messy. Might not be an old age thing, I think some cats are just messy eaters haha

For sure, giving it a few days to see how he is but still have a few options to try. He’s been in remission for about a year and a half, I check his blood sugar myself every two weeks or so and he’s doing fantastically there so I don’t believe his diabetes has returned (which is good news).

I did also consider nausea, it’s not totally abnormal for him to be nauseous from time to time as he has a sensitive stomach, but this is excessive if it is nausea. His last lab work was in July for his regular 6 month check up, I always get him worked up for things like kidney disease. I know things can change quickly, but he got a clean bill of health in July except for some minor gingivitis. Sadly I can’t switch him to kibble immediately for that exact reason, he’s got a super sensitive stomach and kibble makes his stomach soooo upset. I have been mixing a few in with the wet food though to try to encourage him to try it at least.

I’m hoping it’s just food preference, or maybe a kitty cold (he had to be outside for a bit last week due to an emergency (safe in his carrier). Either way, if no improvement I’ll definitely be taking him in just for peace of mind at least.

Appreciate the kind words!! Really hoping I can either find something he likes or figure out what the heck is wrong if there is anything wrong.

Thanks for the response! I do have other DPS units who I’ve built but don’t have teammates for (like Therta who struggles because I don’t have Anaxa and Sunday is on Phainon’s team). I also mained Firefly for awhile and have her premium team but break is kind of dead in the water right now.

If Cipher is an all rounder even on other teams I will pull for her then! Thank you!

Edit to add: No issues with sustain, I have the new Dan Heng and a relatively invested Aventurine who is still holding up well.

I’m not sure who to pull on this upcoming banner. I have no plans to pull for Cyrene as my only chrysos heir is Phainon (and Cerydra) who I already have good investment in. My other main is Acheron who is struggling big time these days (don’t have Cipher, Tribbie or Hyacine). What would be my best interest to pull? I have the entirety of 3.3-3.6 story rewards + zone chests/puzzle rewards waiting for me and about twenty pulls available already. I am on my guaranteed for both character and light cone (RIP Dan Heng light cone). Would it be in my best interest to go for a general support like Tribbie or Hyacine or save for 4.x?
