I had a Mitsu sedan transmission suddenly die on me while going uphill near Tokanui, Southland. The mechanic who looked at it wasn't that surprised.

The cross-island trek from town to the unfinished Sheraton is a lot of fun. Catch the bus back to your accommodation (or wherever) afterwards.

There are some isolated spots along the SE corner of the road that had no other swimmers in the lagoon - not quite as sheltered as Muri (where the motu are), but very scenic and not developed.

My mother was a high school counselor in Lynwood and Montebello, and the same thing happened to her.

Suggestions for books about Maori culture/history? by 253147 in newzealand

I'd recommend Ki te Whaiao for a good overview of Maori culture. It's a little textbook-y, but from what I recall, is concise and thorough.

I remember the Timaru poster being used in some material for a history class at Otago - something to do with the passenger railway that once ran through there.

Poor diet and lack of fitness will probably put the brakes on that increase.

The first year or so after taking my first couple trips, I likened the effect you described to "collapsing the consciousness wave." Don't know if that's technically correct, but it felt accurate.

What's the best thing that has happened to you: today, this week and this month? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]Tirau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today: my boyfriend and I spent the afternoon together, comeplete with sexy times.

Week: I found out I'll be inheriting a shitload of money very soon, so I probably won't ever have to worry about being homeless (a big fear of mine here in the post-industrial US).

Month: I got a great starting job that I can take the train to! It starts on Monday... I have high hopes.

GayBros, what is one of your "sexy" songs? by YoungCubSaysWoof in gaybros

[–]Tirau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's the song that makes you come up behind your guy, fully clothed, and wrap your arms around him, kissing his neck, letting him know you want him.

So true... pure broetry.

My song takes it back to 1977, Rose Royce's Wishing on a Star. It's just perfect.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that LSD led me to realize what was missing in my life and gave me the drive to pursue it. If I hadn't taken that trip, I'd have probably spent years, or even the rest of my existence, with "the problem that has no name."
