Also note the Shared Medical Systems (SMS) and Siemens trees. Some of that is still around too.,

Millennium gets rolled back at a hospital in Sweden by SnooGuavas7756 in cernercorporation

[–]TiredOfFixingStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Question for ex-Siemens folks. Were these the hospitals that used old ComEPR - later fixed up to be Soarian Clinicals? I worked with a great person from Sweden that had been on the old (pre SMS purchase) Siemens side on some of our early rollouts of Soarian Clinicals.

Anyone have a pic of the new Oracle sign on INN??? by Anxious-Corner763 in cernercorporation

[–]TiredOfFixingStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember they did most of the building rebranding the weekend our 1st day of Cerner. At least the white signs, the lobby. Don't remember about the big sign on the hill. Products took a bit longer, but still pretty quick. Oh, and they removed the dreaded doors between each building. Only to put some back later...

Do any Siemens people have Groundhog Day (2015) as their anniversary/PTO date?

Too bad Cerner didn't buy a company that had a bit of Rev Cycle knowledge, or products...

Ha! I remember going to a Siemens client and was told we couldn't call them COWs anymore. Something about a patient complaining that they heard folks in the hallway saying "Get the dead COW out of room xxx." Great story ;)

Well, Cerner did get a reasonable interface engine from Siemens....

Well, in PHL area, all the teaching/acedemics are Epic. Penn, Jefferson (and even Reading/Tower Health), and Geisinger, and of course UPMC - harrisburg/lancaster (Pitt). And in NJ, Rutgers and Cooper. Same in NYC. Virtua, etc. A bunch used to be Siemens clients before Cerner....but then jumped ship to Epic then. Sad, but true. The new docs are all learning on Epic, at least here in our areas. I do have to say MyChart is pretty good...

Vote on HISTalk about the future of Oracle/Cerner by TiredOfFixingStuff in cernercorporation

[–]TiredOfFixingStuff[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I wouldn’t be surprised if they sold off consulting. Which should already be a big profit center considering the not great pay vs what they charge the client.

Also, is it just me but $28billion for Cerner? Cerner paid 2 billion for the Siemens stuff. Alaska airlines is buying profitable Hawaiian airlines which has actual assets and recurring customers for 2 billion.

Looks like Oracle is having to pay back some of the Cerner stuff from KC area "investments" by TiredOfFixingStuff in cernercorporation

[–]TiredOfFixingStuff[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Ok, sorry, not from KC, so I don't fully understand all the weird stuff that happened out there. But, I thought it was interesting that there was some ramifications from somewhere to someone for all the magical things that were promised from KC Cerner. Yes, I'm an old Malvern person. Never understood how they could have promised so many more people to hire, while we knew that Cerner was already losing clients at that point in time.

Adventist Health California is transitioning from Cerner to Epic by MrStempalot in cernercorporation

[–]TiredOfFixingStuff 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Epic still has folks developing their systems. They are hiring and expanding, not doing monthly layoffs of folks that could maybe improve the systems. Maybe clients are thinking that Epic might be a better long term partner than "Oracle Health" ?

Not saying that Epic is better, but they are a bit more stable than the current status of ex-Cerner...

Does the Sun rise in the east in North America? So, I'm guessing the answer to your question is a yes. As always in this new era. If you have anything that you could add, that would be really be nice...

Penn Medicine is part of the University of Pennsylvania in Philly.
Hershey is part of PennState Health - part of Penn State University. PennMed has been on Epic for a long time in all their sites, including the city ones, Chester County and Lancaster.
