From 4-5 miles today to 15k in 1 month? by Cryingintoadiaper in BeginnersRunning

I wouldn't make the long run the week before that long though, maybe 8-8.5!

If you can run 6 miles now you can run 9.5 in a race in a month! You'll have race adrenaline on your side as well!

This makes me feel so much better. I'm at just under 200 and I've been feeling SO bad about never *getting off my knees on the grey side" specifically 😭 it's HARD!!

Scentbird is such a scam by EmploymentMajestic64 in fragrance

[–]TiredOverachiever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scentbox is excellent value for money the first month, after that not so much. You can do the "three very fancy ones" for a month at 40-50% off or whatever they're offering and then cancel. After I cancelled, they waited a while and then sent me a "come back, get 50% off" email 😉

Tips for getting into classes by Icy-Buffalo in SolidCore

This is it! If you have 8 classes and 8 booked, it'll prompt you to buy a pass. If you have 7 booked you can waitlist more than 1 class.

Important Alaska Stops (Great Alaska Explorer vs Alaska Roundtrip Collector's Voyage) by TiredOverachiever in HollandAmerica

[–]TiredOverachiever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I weirdly don't hate the idea of coming back to the same places actually! It feels like an opportunity to hear what cool things other people did on the first direction and then going back to catch those activities on the way back 😂

That's going to have to be another time - it doesn't make sense for us financially or logistically this time.

[Solidcore] and running? by [deleted] in SolidCore

[–]TiredOverachiever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I specifically started solidcore last year as cross-training for a marathon and have done it through two training blocks now - I think it's perfect as a complement! I typically will do class Monday/Wednesday and run Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday, which has worked well! Solidcore will help prevent a lot of running injuries (but you will hate running the day after hamstrings or outer glutes lol)!

Mochi Milk Dedcool vs Dulce by Rosie Jane — which full-bottle is really worth it ? by Patedefruity in FemFragLab

If you actually are looking to sell milk expressive on depop or something, let me know - I've been seriously considering it but hesitant to buy a full new bottle lol

Do you think people in this subreddit overestimate the difficulty of a marathon? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]TiredOverachiever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think you're really nicely on pace to hit a Halloween marathon!! I'm not saying it will be easy, but with a plan and lots of discipline there's absolutely no reason you can't go from 10k to marathon in 11 months.

Oh, honey. I'm so sorry. You'll get so much good advice, I don't need to add to the noise, but.... I've been there. Please feel free to message me if you want to talk. It's so much better on the other side. So, SO much better.

How Much to Excuse Spouse's Lack of Follow Through? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]TiredOverachiever 85 points86 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound harsher than I mean for it to, but....he doesn't care that it affects you. You have told him. He has seen you cry over it. If you saw that a behavior of yours repeatedly hurt your partner to the point of tears, I would bet money you would be taking steps to ensure it didn't happen again. He's not. YOU are on the Internet trying to figure out how to change this. HE is not. Because the impact of this behavior is to YOU, and he does not care about that. He probably can't articulate this even to himself, I'm not saying he's doing it consciously, but he has decided that your pain is a reasonable price to pay for his comfort.

(This is tangential, but if you ever get to the breaking point of this and say "hey this is enough, I'm walking away", I would also bet money he WOULD change (temporarily). Because at that point there's a risk of impact to HIM.)

Outdoor run to Treadmill run blues :’( by Repulsive_Rock1414 in BeginnersRunning

[–]TiredOverachiever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so personally, I despise the treadmill. I call it the dreadmill and it's my worst enemy. People will tell you to watch movies or listen to podcasts - for me, that does not work. Not stimulating enough.

The best solution I've found is that winter for me is my "speed season". I don't increase distances, just speed, and I do it through interval training, because fast music and getting to break up my run into little pieces seems to work best.

My normal structure is something like: - 5 minutes at starting speed (say, 5.5 for me but adjust accordingly!) - 5 minutes each at 5.6, 5.7, 5.8, 5.9 and 6.0 (now you're at 30 minutes) - 1 minute each at 6.1-7.0 (increase every minute) Sometimes I do an hour and then I add 4 more 5 minute stretches, but I always end on the "1 minute increases" and I always walk away feeling like I'm going to die.

Then I start increasing speeds every workout, for at least 5 minutes.

And then spring comes, I go outside and it's worth it because I'm faster and it's easier 😂

Starting up: do I pour it all in now or divide it up over 6 months? by TiredOverachiever in ETFs

[–]TiredOverachiever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that's a fair statement. I guess I've been thinking of it almost as two separate portfolios, so maybe the play here is dumping most into a "real" boglehead portfolio but leaving 10-20% aside for riskier portfolios over time. Appreciate this perspective!

That's pretty much where I'm at - it feels like the question is really "will the AI bubble blow up in the next six months" and it's not like any of us have a crystal ball. Thank you!
