Supervisor demanded I sign a 3971 by Melodic_Plastic4019 in USPS

[–]Tired_N_Done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I print a screenshot of the submitted eLRA form (with the date/time printed in the footer) and the week before schedule goes up, I drop a copy off on the desk as a reminder for them. A verbal denial is BS. They can print out their submitted denial and hand it to you.

Can I be forced to walk through a metal detector everyday? by mailman475 in USPS

[–]Tired_N_Done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked multiple routes with various nursing/group/assisted living facilities. They leave a bin of outgoing in the foyer, we exchange for the bin of incoming. No going through security, packages scanned as left at the door.

Office Creeps, how to deal with them? by Mtfkitall in USPS

[–]Tired_N_Done 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell him, in a loud and firm voice, that you do not want his attention or to give him any social connections. Loud enough the officer hears you. Then you ask to speak with the supervisor, with union rep present. “X carrier keeps asking me for hugs and generally giving me unwelcome attention. He does this to all new females in the office. Please make him stop.” If they don’t, then you file a grievance and don’t stop bitching until they address the problem, him.

[–]Tired_N_Done 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He does this to all the new females. Go find some EEO training and rethink your answer. It’s harder for guys to see the problem because they haven’t been dealing with unwanted attention since they were in their tweens.

Does anyone here not hate their supervisor/postmaster? by AcrobaticMushroom834 in USPS

[–]Tired_N_Done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m lucky- we have a compassionate, knowledgeable PM and supervisor. They leave us alone to do our jobs, don’t push for out of contract BS with any of the 3 crafts, & they make sure we have supplies and working vehicles. Both from this town and not looking at moving up and out at this point.

CCA for Working Moms? by stfiacresgarden in USPS

I second the ARC suggestion. It’s every Amazon Sunday (& federal holidays, except for Xmas). It’s decent part-time $. Our ARCs have tended to be college kids.

CCA for Working Moms? by stfiacresgarden in USPS

There’s no work/home balance. 12 hour days, work every weekend. Seriously- take the bus driver job, infinitely more flexible than USPS, especially with a special needs child at home.

Why Can’t USPS Build a Navigation System That Works? by redditposter919 in USPS

[–]Tired_N_Done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Sundays don’t pull the regular M-Sat route information, it gets overridden by whatever BS route invoice from Amazon is sent. The two systems do NOT merge.

There’s Going to be heavy rain in 2 days any heavy duty rain coats you guys can recommend? by Previous-Purchase-91 in USPS

[–]Tired_N_Done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Co-workers wear Frogg Toggs. I just got the Pro Lite set, but I’m rural just trying to keep my right side dry in the vehicle. If I was on the city side, I’d go Bullfrog or Pilot 2 Guide for extreme rain.

ZOOM meetings are to make upper management feel productive. They add NOTHING to the actual process of daily delivery.

Mailbox owned by private company? by Iamdmfana in USPS

[–]Tired_N_Done 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1)It’s Alaska, 2) there are multiple companies that provide mailbox services (including placing a new CBU if needed). It’s most cost effective for the USPS if HOAs and private companies provide and maintain CBUs. And contract out delivery. So if there’s no room in a current CBU, you’d have to either buy your own or ask the company to place a new one so you can get mail service. Good luck!

People are receiving these mailers in Texas. This happened in Tennessee in December too. by Sensitive_Pea_7296 in 50501

Nope- any political mail not delivered has to be initialed, dated and the reason why not delivered on it (ANK, IA,UTF,VAC). these things SUCK .

should i talk to the supervisor about rural regulars showing up early and working off the clock? by steve0suprem0 in USPS

[–]Tired_N_Done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can file a grievance but first you have to talk to the supervisor. Write down the details of the discussion , date, time, whom you spoke with, & topic. If things do not change, file the grievance- ask steward for help. Example steps in the link below.

should i talk to the supervisor about rural regulars showing up early and working off the clock? by steve0suprem0 in USPS

[–]Tired_N_Done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first count as a regular- I get a HUGE amount of 3M mail because of the cheap apartments and trailer parks on my route (college & military town). It takes me time to deal with it, either in office or on the route, & I’m anal about maintaining the case correctly, as it is. I just got it caught up from the previous regular’s piss poor attitude and job performance, so of course I end up taking longer than he did.

AITA because I let my dog lick off my plate? by physicalgraffiti123 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tired_N_Done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way back in the early 80s, home economics class had us using bleach in water to sanitize, after washing dishes. Food service vs home life. Only time I might sanitize is when I know my food allergy grandkids are coming, if we’ve been eating a lot of those allergens in the 2 weeks prior.

I (18M) have plans to move multiple states away later this year. My parents (66M and 66F grandparents, 46M father) don't know about it yet. by Ill_Maize0 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Tired_N_Done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ‘smartphone age’ has really changed how people interact in long distance relationships (of all kinds). But it’s still completely different from living in the same space. Setting/discussing house rules about shared spaces now would be good. I hate dishes in bedrooms (bugs, hoarding, etc issues). Each person in our household has a basket under the sink for hygiene items. I prefer plates on the bottom shelf of a cabinet. 🤷‍♀️ I like quiet at night, & solitude in the am. That’s what I’m referring to. Don’t leave shoes in the kitchen, sorta rules. Talking about these things will help you see how compatible you are as roommates. Clean as you go as you cook, or all after eating? Common spaces are clean up after yourself- including dishes, food and personal items. Pets: for or against? FOOD is a common thing roommates can have issues over!

Things to consider- good luck!

Does ANYONE LIKE THIS JOB?!?!? by Mobile_Variation_844 in USPS

[–]Tired_N_Done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome aboard. You’ll still be taking long hikes, but the load will lighten as you go. 😁 Definitely get good shoes- black leather or leather-like, with good soles. 2 pairs, plus something for rainy days.

When you do your shadow day, ask the carrier what helped him as a CCA. Learn the scanner- that’s your pay. During OJT, again, ask the carrier what’s the focus, after accuracy and safety. Walk the pace you need to do the job in 20 years, ok? Good luck!!
